    Using UML’s Sequence Diagrams for Representing Execution Models Associated to Triggers

    11 pages, 3 figures.-- Contributed to: 23rd British National Conference on Databases (BNCOD 23, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, July 18-20, 2006).Using active rules or triggers to verify integrity constraints is a serious and complex problem because these mechanisms have behaviour that could be difficult to predict in a complex database. The situation is even worse as there are few tools available for developing and verifying them. We believe that automatic support for trigger development and verification would help database developers to adopt triggers in the database design process. Therefore, in this work we suggest a visualization add-in tool that represents and verifies triggers execution by using UML’s sequence diagrams. This tool is added in RATIONAL ROSE and it simulates the execution sequence of a set of triggers when a DML operation is produced.     DESIGN FOR A STAND-ALONE, UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS (USB) -ENABLED AIRFLOW PERTURBATION DEVICE

    The stand-alone, USB-enabled Airflow Perturbation Device (APD) provides an average respiratory resistance (RR) measurement without connection to a computer and offers expanded functionality when connected to a computer. In both home and medical clinic settings, RR can provide a measure of impairment in obstructive respiratory disorders and the effectiveness of respiratory therapies. The APD measures RR during passive breathing by sensing the ratio of pressure increase to flow reduction during brief, partial airflow interruptions. Prior work has shown the APD to produce repeatable, sensitive RR measurements in humans and animals. The device of prior investigations incorporated a computer and data acquisition card. The research presented here demonstrates that the APD can provide accurate measurements in a stand-alone format and provide expanded function with a USB host computer

    An Energy-Efficient and Reliable Data Transmission Scheme for Transmitter-based Energy Harvesting Networks

    Energy harvesting technology has been studied to overcome a limited power resource problem for a sensor network. This paper proposes a new data transmission period control and reliable data transmission algorithm for energy harvesting based sensor networks. Although previous studies proposed a communication protocol for energy harvesting based sensor networks, it still needs additional discussion. Proposed algorithm control a data transmission period and the number of data transmission dynamically based on environment information. Through this, energy consumption is reduced and transmission reliability is improved. The simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm is more efficient when compared with previous energy harvesting based communication standard, Enocean in terms of transmission success rate and residual energy.This research was supported by Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Foundation by Korea (NRF) funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology(2012R1A1A3012227)
