This study is based on a historical analysis of the technological development and introduction of artificial intelligence for medical use in China, based on the progress of application of artificial intelligence technology development to the medical field of traditional Chinese medicine and the experience of many experts in clinical practice. Through the application history of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems technology, we will review its historical characteristics and the necessity of TCM expert system technology. By examining the application cases of TCM expert systems, we can find that Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems play an important role as an auxiliary means of diagnosis and treatment for doctors. This paper finds that the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems is directly related to the change of Chinese government's science and technology policy through the investigation of the application history of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems. At the same time, because the science and technology policy directly related to the traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems appeared late, so the implementation technology of the traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems is still insufficient. The technical level adopted in the implementation of the existing traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems is still in a relatively low state. Therefore, whether in hardware or software, we should develop a new integrated traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems based on the treatment theory of many Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems, so as to meet the needs of modern Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)expert systems diagnosis, people's need for healthy life, and medical care. Finally, when studying the historical issues of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)expert systems, the Chinese government's science and technology policy changes are also an integral part

This commentary discusses the significance and improvement of the drafted regulation on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) proposed by the Chinese government. The draft regulation is significant in emphasizing the need of evidence-based scientific and evaluation research of TCM; guiding the design of deliverable and high-quality TCM healthcare service to urban as well as rural communities in China; and confirming the scientific value of TCM. However, a few sections in the draft need to be readdressed and spelled out. Pharmaceutical formulae and medicine production shall require license and certification; experienced TCM professionals should be invited to teach and evaluated by students to substitute the “master-to-apprentice” training; specific plans that lead to qualitative change of TCM and legal liability related to TCM practice need to be elaborated; and the consequence of violation of the regulation shall be specified

Stability of active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

    Get PDF
Studies on stability of active ingredients are fundamental and critical for the rational development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in view of its modernization and worldwide use. The stability of both active and marker constituents of plants used in TCM is reviewed for the first time. More than 100 papers, mostly written in Chinese, have been reviewed. Studies concerning plant constituents were analyzed according to their chemical classification of active ingredients. In addition, several crude drugs of animal origin are also reported. Stability of active ingredients is summarized during extraction and/or storage of the herbal drug preparations, and under stress conditions (pH, temperature, solvents, light, and humidity) and in the presence of preservatives, antioxidants, and metals

A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Based Screener for Autistic Spectral Symptoms

    Get PDF
Unlike most of the autism screeners that use the classical triad of impairments in social interaction, communication and stereotyped behaviors to identify autism, the present screener is based on the yin-yang concept of dualism relying on the eight principles of the Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) to understand autism. Though not validated yet, it can still be used as an alternative screening tool by parents, teachers and other interested parties, such as the TCM practitioners, to make an initial identification of someone displaying prodromal autistic spectral symptoms, ranging from one end of the continuum that shows signs of low passivity (yin) to the other end that shows signs of high activity or reactivity (yang) in responding to either eternal or internal stimuli. The screener is strictly not to be used as a diagnostic tool. However, its results may be used for a possible quick referral to the professionals for a formal assessment to be conducted so that early intervention can be provided before the condition becomes more serious over time

The primary aim of our study was to describe the demographic characteristics of acupuncture patients in an urban teaching clinic and the diagnoses of those patients. The demographics of those seeking acupuncture treatments at the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute clinic are primarily female, mostly Caucasian, with an average age of 55.7 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) patient demographics at an urban teaching clinic match those in other settings around the world
