This volume represents the proceedings of the Workshops co-located with the 16th International Conference on ICT in Education, Research, and Industrial Applications, held in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in October 2020. It comprises 101 contributed papers that were carefully peer-reviewed and selected from 233 submissions for the five workshops: RMSEBT, TheRMIT, ITER, 3L-Person, CoSinE, MROL. The volume is structured in six parts, each presenting the contributions for a particular workshop. The topical scope of the volume is aligned with the thematic tracks of ICTERI 2020: (I) Advances in ICT Research; (II) Information Systems: Technology and Applications; (III) Academia/Industry ICT Cooperation; and (IV) ICT in Education.
That Within Which Passeth Show: Interiority, Religion, and the Cognitive Poetics of Hamlet
Shakespeare's Hamlet emerged at a moment of social transition between Catholic England and Protestant England. The accidents and entailments of this particular culture emerge in the text through images, metaphors, polysemy, ideational conceits, as well as in unique forms of linguistic expression and dramatic signification. Reading the theological disputes, architecture, discursive encryption, and public performances of the day as another form of historical and expressive text, and informing that reading with the latest theories in post-Whig English history, this dissertation uses the information so-gathered to perform a close re-reading of Hamlet and explore the way a cognitive primitive—the schema INSIDE/OUTSIDE—is expressed multiply in the text in a polysemic web of signification. It is suggested that Hamlet emerged not only at the turning point between Catholic England and Protestant England, but at the strongly figured turning point between the homo religiosus of Medieval Europe and the modern European subject. This transition is marked by a split between a private and a public self correlated with the creation of a secular, social culture in Western European cordoned off from the increasingly complex and pluralistic religious culture
Adorno, dada and the philistine: the immanent negation of the institution of art
This thesis uses the figure of the philistine to stage a critical encounter between
the aesthetic theory of Theodor Adorno and the anti-art of Dada. The
introduction prepares for this argument by tracing the development of the
concept of the philistine over time. In the first chapter, Adorno’s aesthetic theory
is delineated negatively, reconstructed on the basis of a wide-ranging survey of
the references to the philistine in his work. His dialectical conception of this
figure is pushed further, and brought to bear critically on his own blindnesses,
aporias and exclusions. The second chapter explores how these limitations are
manifested in his flawed interpretation of Dada, advancing an alternative reading
of the movement, with recourse to counterexamples of its creative practice. The
third chapter deepens this interpretation through a series of case studies, in which
the philistine acts as the symbolic representation of different versions of anti-art.
These analyses extend the theorization of the philistine to complete the critique
of Adorno. However, Dada is also critically evaluated according to the model of
the philistine derived from him, conceptualized as the immanent negation of art,
now amended slightly to the immanent negation of the institution of art. The
conclusion reflects on the methodological implications of this argument, and
considers the wider applicability of the revised aesthetic theory which has
emerged from it. In this critical encounter, Adorno’s and Dada’s shared
negativity is the point of convergence in which the opposed notions of aesthetic
autonomy and the institutionality of art are mediated as extremes

Beyond Enlightenment
The vast majority of books on Buddhism describe the Buddha using the word enlightened, rather than awakened. This bias has resulted in Buddhism becoming generally perceived as the eponymous religion of enlightenment. Beyond Enlightenment is a sophisticated study of some of the underlying assumptions involved in the study of Buddhism (especially, but not exclusively, in the West). It investigates the tendency of most scholars to ground their study of Buddhism in these particular assumptions about the Buddha’s enlightenment and a particular understanding of religion, which is traced back through Western orientalists to the Enlightenment and the Protestant Reformation. Placing a distinct emphasis on Indian Buddhism, Richard Cohen adeptly creates a work that will appeal to those with an interest in Buddhism and India and also scholars of religion and history
