A FUZZY DECISION MAKING APPROACH IN EVALUATING FERRY SERVICE QUALITY
The service quality evaluation is undeniably important especially in highly competitive service related industry. However, service quality evaluation is not always straightforward as criteria in evaluation and customer perceptions toward services are intangible measures. This paper presents a fuzzy multi-criteria decision making approach for evaluating the service quality of ferry that transport customers between the mainland of Peninsular Malaysia and a tourist spot island. Service quality is a composite of various criteria, among them many criteria are intangible and difficult to measure. Fuzzy numbers and linguistic level based on fuzzy sets theory as a method to overcome vaguely judgment in evaluation. The crisp survey results were collected via a ten-service criteria questionnaire from eighty seven customers and computed using Best non-Fuzzy Performance and Degree of Similarity. Based on the concept of the defuzzification, the ranking of service performance is obtained. Degree of Similarity provides the level of satisfaction and its degrees for each criterion. The criterion of ‘service efficiency of ferry personnel’ was the first in the ranking. All the criteria received ‘good’ and ‘very good’ for the level of satisfaction. These evaluation results facilitate the ferry operator to upgrade its ferry services and eventually meet its customers’ needs.Service quality, fuzzy number, satisfaction level, defuzzification.
Hesitant fuzzy network topsis methods with the incorporation of z-numbers and social network analysis for small and large scale group decision making
It is critical to arrive at an acceptable level of consensus in a group for an agreeable and implementable decision. The evaluation of alternatives in conventional TOPSIS decision making does not take into account the inherent vagueness of information as it requires a systematic decision-making process in which relies on numerous
conditions and unpredictable situations. It is common in deciding the best choice with the highest satisfaction degree that are evaluated based on attributes. However, two or more alternatives with the same or nearest satisfaction degree would lead to hesitancy in the decision. Thus, fuzzy network TOPSIS is incorporated with the hesitant fuzzy set is developed namely hesitant fuzzy network TOPSIS. Nevertheless, the reliability of decisions by experts and the complexity in large scale are less highlighted in hesitant fuzzy network TOPSIS. Therefore, this study aims in formulating hesitant fuzzy network TOPSIS with the incorporation of Z-numbers.
The formulation also implies social network analysis for large-scale group decision making. In this study, four new fuzzy network TOPSIS are developed in small scale and large-scale group decision making. The proposed methods enhance the transparency and reliability by incorporating fuzzy network and Z numbers respectively. In addition, social network analysis is suitable for dealing with the complexity involved in large scale group decision making. For the practicality and
the effectiveness of the proposed methods in a realistic scenario, a case study of stock selection and the analysis of results comparing proposed methods to the established methods has been considered. The ranking of the proposed methods are validated comparatively using performance indicators namely Spearman rho correlation, Root Means Squared Error, and Absolute Distance by assuming ranking
based on Return on Investment as a benchmarking. Based on the case study, the proposed methods outperform the established methods in terms of average rank position. In conclusion, the proposed methods contribute significantly toward the implementation of small scale and large scale group decision making using hesitant

Evaluation of e-learning web sites using fuzzy axiomatic design based approach
High quality web site has been generally recognized as a critical enabler to conduct online business. Numerous studies exist in the literature to measure the business performance in relation to web site quality. In this paper, an axiomatic design based approach for fuzzy group decision making is adopted to evaluate the quality of e-learning web sites. Another multi-criteria decision making technique, namely fuzzy TOPSIS, is applied in order to validate the outcome. The methodology proposed in this paper has the advantage of incorporating requirements and enabling reductions in the problem size, as compared to fuzzy TOPSIS. A case study focusing on Turkish e-learning websites is presented, and based on the empirical findings, managerial implications and recommendations for future research are offered
Multicriteria optimization to select images as passwords in recognition based graphical authentication systems
Usability and guessability are two conflicting criteria in assessing the
suitability of an image to be used as password in the recognition based graph -ical authentication systems (RGBSs). We present the first work in this area that
uses a new approach, which effectively integrates a series of techniques in order
to rank images taking into account the values obtained for each of the dimen -sions of usability and guessability, from two user studies. Our approach uses
fuzzy numbers to deal with non commensurable criteria and compares two
multicriteria optimization methods namely, TOPSIS and VIKOR. The results
suggest that VIKOR method is the most applicable to make an objective state-ment about which image type is better suited to be used as password. The paper
also discusses some improvements that could be done to improve the ranking
assessment
Complex fermatean fuzzy N-soft sets: a new hybrid model with applications
[EN] Decision-making methods play an important role in the real-life of human beings and consist of choosing the best optionsfrom a set of possible choices. This paper proposes the notion of complex Fermatean fuzzy N-soft set (CFFNSf S) which, bymeans of ranking parameters, is capable of handling two-dimensional information related to the degree of satisfaction anddissatisfaction implicit in the nature of human decisions. We define the fundamental set-theoretic operations of CFFNSf Sand elaborate the CFFSf S associated with threshold. The algebraic and Yager operations on CFFNSf numbers are alsodefined. Several algorithms are proposed to demonstrate the applicability of CFFNSf S to multi-attribute decision making. The advanced algorithms are described and accomplished by several numerical examples. Then, a comparative study
manifests the validity, feasibility, and reliability of the proposed model. This method is compared with the Fermatean fuzzy
Yager weighted geometric (FFYwG) and the Fermatean fuzzy Yager weighted average (FFYwA) operators. Further, wedeveloped a remarkable CFFNSf-TOPSIS approach by applying innovative CFFNSf weighted average operator anddistance measure. The presented technique is fantastically designed for the classification of the most favorable alternativeby examining the closeness of all available choices from particular ideal solutions. Afterward, we demonstrate theamenability of the initiated approach by analyzing its tremendous potential to select the best city in the USA for farming.
An integrated comparative analysis with existing Fermatean fuzzy TOPSIS technique is rendered to certify the terrificcapability of the established approach. Further, we decisively investigate the rationality and reliability of the presentedCFFNSf S and CFFNSf-TOPSIS approach by highlighting its advantages over the existent models and TOPSIS approaches. Finally, we holistically describe the conclusion of the whole work.Publicación en abierto financiada por el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Universitarias de Castilla y León (BUCLE), con cargo al Programa Operativo 2014ES16RFOP009 FEDER 2014-2020 DE CASTILLA Y LEÓN, Actuación:20007-CL - Apoyo Consorcio BUCLE
Fuzzy multi criteria evaluation for performance of bus companies
A multi criteria decision making in ranking the bus companies using fuzzy rule is proposed. The proposed method uses the application of fuzzy sets and approximate reasoning in deciding the ranking of the performance of several bus companies. The proposed method introduces data normalization using similarity function which dampens extreme values that exist in the data. The use of the model is suitable in evaluating situation that involves subjectivity, vagueness and imprecise information. Experimental results are comparable to several previous methods
Solving P - Norm Intuitionistic Fuzzy Programming Problem
In this paper, notion of p - norm generalized trapezoidal intuitionistic
fuzzy numbers is introduced. A new ranking method is introduced for p - norm
generalized trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. Also we consider linear
programming problem in intuitionistic fuzzy environment. In this problem, all
the coefficients and variables are represented by p - norm generalized
trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. To overcome the limitations of the
existing methods, a new method is proposed to compute the intuitionistic fuzzy
optimal solution for intuitionistic fuzzy linear programming problem. An
illustrative numerical example is solved to demonstrate the efficiency of the
proposed approach.Comment: some erro
