Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC) face a shortage of funding to meet the demands of students, faculty, staff and businesses. Through this practitioner research, the utilization of the college’s current customer relationship management (CRM) database advanced. By leveraging technology, the researcher assisted the college in meeting the needs of stakeholders and supported the strategic plan of Forsyth Technical Community College. The researcher delivered two interventions (survey and professional development). The first intervention consisted of a pre- and post- intervention anonymous survey delivered electronically to all 650 full-time employees. The surveys acquired a response rate of 33% and 28%, respectively. In addition to determining that 71 employees were aware of the CRM the survey also served to inform all full time employees of the existing CRM and its relationship to partnerships. The second intervention consisted of seven Professional Development training sessions each followed by an anonymous Plus/Delta. The Plus/Delta forms were categorized and used to develop better Professional Development sessions. After completing the interventions, the researcher determined that the interventions were successful in raising awareness of the CRM. More importantly, the researcher learned that although the technology is very important in the CRM implementation, it is second to employee engagement. Face to face professional development with a member of the executive team elevated the importance of CRM usage. Employee engagement included step by step instruction, guided practice and real world data entry.Findings from this practitioner research were that colleges intent on a successful CRM implementation must embrace three other design points to support implementation. First, engagement of executive management is crucial to users. Utilization by executive management alerts users to the importance of the CRM and encourages participation. Second, make the technology easy to navigate and demonstrate how utilizing the CRM can help their students, areas of control or building professional networks. A new CRM must compete for usage from users, difficult to use or irrelevant tools are used last. Finally, as best practices and research indicates change management is a necessity, training and support cannot be a onetime event. Utilization of an enterprise wide CRM must receive continuous attention to become an integral contributor to partnership development

Do Ugly Criminals Receive Harsher Sentences? An Analysis of Lookism in the Criminal Justice System

    Get PDF
For many years, researchers have attempted to find a link between beauty and labor market outcomes. Although many important findings have been noted in these studies, the beauty analysis utilized was a subjective measurement. This subjective method, while important, may have external factors creating bias in the rating itself. In this study, the impact of beauty is applied to criminals and their sentences. Using a computer based symmetry measurement tool, an objective beauty measurement will be utilized. This study will seek to uncover whether or not criminals who are less attractive, measured through facial symmetry, receive harsher prison sentences than criminals whose facial features are more symmetric. The findings indicated that there are racial discrepancies in the analysis of beauty on sentencing decisions. In other words, for the black sample there is a premium for beauty but for the white sample, beauty is penalized

7 Essential Keys to Success: Developing the Spiritual Discipline in the Leader

    Get PDF
To deny that some leaders have problems, and others do not, is to deny Scripture, history, and experience. All leaders may not have as many problems as some, but all leaders do have problems. These problems are not always produced by the grass-roots membership. Leaders are often the cause of the very problems they see and deplore in the church. It is apparent that this is true when a leader has dishonored the moral standards or departed from sound doctrine. It is more often true when the leader has been indolent, failed to plan his work or work the plan, or when he has demonstrated obstinacy or an erroneous attitude. This is the reality; the job of a leader can be 24/7 and carries unique challenges. Some leaders wear themselves out trying to help people, and others affect their families as a result of their ministry. However, others flourish in their ministry and personal life as a result of a Godly, balanced life. Throughout history, many leaders have fallen prey to the mores of society, Satan, and the seductive sins that do so easily beset the man or woman of God. To that end, in the church and society there are many holdups where Satan seems to be wreaking havoc in the lives of the leader. Much can be said to benefit them in avoiding these hang-ups. This thesis project will assist the novice leader in using these elements to become more powerful, productive, and prosperous in his or her calling through a survey of leaders with at least three years’ experience, through applied research, and academic research
