ER modelling from first relational principles

Entity-Relationship modelling is a popular technique for data modelling. Despite its popularity and wide spread use, it lacks a firm semantic foundation. We propose a translation of an ER-model into relation algebra, suggesting that this kind of algebra does provide suitable mechanisms for establishing a formal semantics of Entity-Relationship modelling. The work reported on here deals first with the techniques necessary for the translation, thus constructing a static view of an ER-model in an abstract setting of what might be called logic without variables. We then undertake a detailed analysis of the insertion and deletion operations for an ER-model represented in terms of the relation calculus

Narrative Language as an Expression of Individual and Group Identity

Scientific Narrative Psychology integrates quantitative methodologies into the study of identity. Its methodology, Narrative Categorical Analysis, and its toolkit, NarrCat, were both originally developed by the Hungarian Narrative Psychology Group. NarrCat is for machine-made transformation of sentences in self-narratives into psychologically relevant, statistically processable narrative categories. The main body of this flexible and comprehensive system is formed by Psycho-Thematic modules, such as Agency, Evaluation, Emotion, Cognition, Spatiality, and Temporality. The Relational Modules include Social References, Semantic Role Labeling (SRL), and Negation. Certain elements can be combined into Hypermodules, such as Psychological Perspective and Spatio-Temporal Perspective, which allow for even more complex, higher level exploration of composite psychological processes. Using up-to-date developments of corpus linguistics and Natural Language Processing (NLP), a unique feature of NarrCat is its capacity of SRL. Nyelvi tudásra épülő fordítómemória

A cikkben bemutatásra kerülő MetaMorpho TM rendszer olyan fordítástámogató eszköz, amely a hagyományos fordítómemóría-fiinkciókat nyelvi intelligenciával kiegészítve a jelenlegi rendszereiméi többször ajánl fordítást, és azok jobban közelítik a kívánt minőségű fordítást. A fordítás egységei a mondatnál kisebb szegmensek (főnévi szerkezetek és az ezeket tartalmazó mondatvázak), amelyeket a forrás- és célnyelvi elemzők állítanak elő.
