online clearance system (OC System)
The purpose of this project is to design a system for UTP Security Department,
fnformation Resource Centre Department and finance Department specifically for
the administration of students and staffs' administration management. The system
will be web - based applications that can be executed using normal web browser for
inter - platform capabilities. The project is divided into two terms, first the research
on clearance system for final semester student and second development on the
Online Clearance System (OC System). Research on the OC System will be based
on the problem statement and objective of the project while the research for the
current clearance system for fmal semester at UTP is the support idea for the project.
This document also gives further information about the system in the literature
review/theory section. This section includes the features of the system, the benefits
from using the system, and the data flow diagram of the intended system.
Part of the Final Year Project, student manage to get known with the business
environment on how they manage their database, clearance system and the
performance of the staff. In using Online Clearance System (OC System) give the
best solution for the staff as the database plays an important asset for the staff. l
would use distributed database in my system.A distributed database is a database
that is under the control of a central database management system in which storage
devices are not all attached to a common CPU. It may be stored in multiple
computers located in the same physical location, or may be dispersed over a network
of interconnected computers. Collections of data (eg. in a database) can be
distributed across multiple physical locations. A distributed database is distributed
into separate partitions/fragments. Each partition/fragment of a distributed database
may be replicated (ie. redundant fail-overs, R.AlD fike)
Bibliotecario de sistemas: una especialización con futuro
The specialization of systems librarian is relatively new, especiality in Latin America, where such expertise does not exist formally, but the task and the role of a systems librarian has been and is currently done by different
people within and outside the library. This paper provides an introduction to systems librarians, its history, and the skills, qualities, and attitudes that are required to perform the task successfully. It also describes the role, skills required and the responsibilities inherent in this specialization. Finally, the possibilities of formal and informal education and the need for dual training, librarianship and computer science, are established. Due to the steady advance of new technologies, systems librarians have new opportunities and new horizons, which is why we can say that this is a specialization with a future
A highly configurable query-oriented portal for a co-operative environment
Web portals and “my” portals are now commonplace but they are constructed along familiar lines with
hierarchical management structure. Typically one or more owners of data will allow a larger group of
people to view data in rigid, pre-planned ways. Historically data on the web was presented on static
pages. Nowadays the data is likely to be drawn from a database, but it still tends to be presented in a
layout defined by the supplier. This suggests that it might be fruitful to consider what designs might be
natural or possible in a cooperative, trusting, egalitarian environment. Although this ideal situation is
rarely, if ever, truly found in real life it may be that some of the ideas will be appealing and find
application even in an imperfect environment

The Economic Rationality in a Period of Crisis
The present economic crisis sets the society in a state of uncertainty that lays stress on the very risk of existence. In normal conditions the concept of "rationality" is guiding all human activities, because, "homo economicus" has always aimed at maximizing the effects with the minimization of efforts. The approach to the present study emphasizes a few things: the economic rationality is a fundamental principle in economics; that is why its observance should protect us from the danger of risk occurrence and generalization. Then the economic crisis destroys the functional normality of the national economic and political systems, generating disequilibrium difficult to correct under the circumstances of rationality non-observance. "Nothing more has to be added to convince us that market mechanisms cannot protect mankind from future ecological crises, even if we find "the right price ", wrote Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen in "The Energy, Natural Resources and the Economic Theory"( Vol VI) . Quite right, as today we confront ourselves with the problem of saving the resources in the era of welfare. Tomorrow's social and ecological exigencies modify the interpretations in the context of a new economic paradigm: even if our way of living remains dependent on the production of the means of living on a large scale, the saving of resources sets the society in an economic conflict with social implications. We want an economic increase but this means the proportional increase of resources, which leads to a linear way of thinking. The reality is different: we do want economic increase but with a resource consumption meant to protect the future generations from crises. In this way, the specific disparities between the normative and the positive of the state of things are exposed. The economic history acknowledges the fact that the technological progress meant both the discovery and the use of new resources. It is no doubt that these led both to the expansion and a substantial increase but also to the modification of the quantity-quality report. Then the question is: to what extent we can operate for the economic increase and what is the limit for us to reduce the consumptions, so as the rationality may remain steady.economic rationality, crisis, state of uncertainty, economic systems
