Building Reusable Software Component For Optimization Check in ABAP Coding
Software component reuse is the software engineering practice of developing
new software products from existing components. A reuse library or component
reuse repository organizes stores and manages reusable components. This paper
describes how a reusable component is created, how it reuses the function and
checking if optimized code is being used in building programs and applications.
Finally providing coding guidelines, standards and best practices used for
creating reusable components and guidelines and best practices for making

An ontology framework for developing platform-independent knowledge-based engineering systems in the aerospace industry
This paper presents the development of a novel knowledge-based engineering (KBE) framework for implementing platform-independent knowledge-enabled product design systems within the aerospace industry. The aim of the KBE framework is to strengthen the structure, reuse and portability of knowledge consumed within KBE systems in view of supporting the cost-effective and long-term preservation of knowledge within such systems. The proposed KBE framework uses an ontology-based approach for semantic knowledge management and adopts a model-driven architecture style from the software engineering discipline. Its phases are mainly (1) Capture knowledge required for KBE system; (2) Ontology model construct of KBE system; (3) Platform-independent model (PIM) technology selection and implementation and (4) Integration of PIM KBE knowledge with computer-aided design system. A rigorous methodology is employed which is comprised of five qualitative phases namely, requirement analysis for the KBE framework, identifying software and ontological engineering elements, integration of both elements, proof of concept prototype demonstrator and finally experts validation. A case study investigating four primitive three-dimensional geometry shapes is used to quantify the applicability of the KBE framework in the aerospace industry. Additionally, experts within the aerospace and software engineering sector validated the strengths/benefits and limitations of the KBE framework. The major benefits of the developed approach are in the reduction of man-hours required for developing KBE systems within the aerospace industry and the maintainability and abstraction of the knowledge required for developing KBE systems. This approach strengthens knowledge reuse and eliminates platform-specific approaches to developing KBE systems ensuring the preservation of KBE knowledge for the long term
A NASA-wide approach toward cost-effective, high-quality software through reuse
NASA Langley Research Center sponsored the second Workshop on NASA Research in Software Reuse on May 5-6, 1992 at the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The workshop was hosted by the Research Triangle Institute. Participants came from the three NASA centers, four NASA contractor companies, two research institutes and the Air Force's Rome Laboratory. The purpose of the workshop was to exchange information on software reuse tool development, particularly with respect to tool needs, requirements, and effectiveness. The participants presented the software reuse activities and tools being developed and used by their individual centers and programs. These programs address a wide range of reuse issues. The group also developed a mission and goals for software reuse within NASA. This publication summarizes the presentations and the issues discussed during the workshop
An Ontology-Based Method for Semantic Integration of Business Components
Building new business information systems from reusable components is today
an approach widely adopted and used. Using this approach in analysis and design
phases presents a great interest and requires the use of a particular class of
components called Business Components (BC). Business Components are today
developed by several manufacturers and are available in many repositories.
However, reusing and integrating them in a new Information System requires
detection and resolution of semantic conflicts. Moreover, most of integration
and semantic conflict resolution systems rely on ontology alignment methods
based on domain ontology. This work is positioned at the intersection of two
research areas: Integration of reusable Business Components and alignment of
ontologies for semantic conflict resolution. Our contribution concerns both the
proposal of a BC integration solution based on ontologies alignment and a

Inter-Domain Integration of Services and Service Management
The evolution of the global telecommunications industry into an open services market presents developers of telecommunication service and management systems with many new challenges. Increased competition, complex service provision chains and integrated service offerings require effective techniques for the rapid integration of service and management systems over multiple organisational domains. These integration issues have been examined in the ACTS project Prospect by developing a working set of integrated, managed telecommunications services for a user trial. Identifying and improving reusability based on coupling patterns
Open Source Software (OSS) communities have not yet taken full advantage of reuse mechanisms. Typically many OSS projects which share the same application domain and topic, duplicate effort and code, without fully leveraging the vast amounts of available code.
This study proposes the empirical evaluation of source code folders of OSS projects in order to determine their actual internal reuse and their potential as shareable, fine-grained and externally reusable software components by future projects.
This paper empirically analyzes four OSS systems, identifies which components (in the form of folders) are currently being reused internally and studies their coupling characteristics. Stable components (i.e., those which act as service providers rather than service consumers) are shown to be more likely to be reusable. As a means of supporting replication of these successful instances of OSS reuse, source folders with similar patterns are extracted from the studied systems, and identified as externally reusable components
