Voltage-Mode Multifunction Biquadratic Filters Using New Ultra-Low-Power Differential Difference Current Conveyors

    Get PDF
This paper presents two low-power voltage-mode multifunction biquadratic filters using differential difference current conveyors. Each proposed circuit employs three differential difference current conveyors, two grounded capacitors and two grounded resistors. The low-voltage ultra-low-power differential difference current conveyor is used to provide low-power consumption of the proposed filters. By appropriately connecting the input and output terminals, the proposed filters can provide low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, band-stop and all-pass voltage responses at high-input terminals, which is a desirable feature for voltage-mode operations. The natural frequency and the quality factor can be orthogonally set by adjusting the circuit components. For realizing all the filter responses, no inverting-type input signal requirements as well as no component-matching conditional requirements are imposed. The incremental parameter sensitivities are also low. The characteristics of the proposed circuits are simulated by using PSPICE simulators to confirm the presented theory

A Novel (DDCC-SFG)-Based Systematic Design Technique of Active Filters

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a novel idea for the synthesis of active filters that is based on the use of signal-flow graph (SFG) stamps of differential difference current conveyors (DDCCs). On the basis of an RLC passive network or a filter symbolic transfer function, an equivalent SFG is constructed. DDCCs’ SFGs are identified inside the constructed ‘active’ graph, and thus the equivalent circuit can be easily synthesized. We show that the DDCC and its ‘derivatives’, i.e. differential voltage current conveyors and the conventional current conveyors, are the main basic building blocks in such design. The practicability of the proposed technique is showcased via three application examples. Spice simulations are given to show the viability of the proposed technique

High Input Impedance Voltage-Mode Universal Biquadratic Filters With Three Inputs Using Three CCs and Grounding Capacitors

Two current conveyors (CCs) based high input impedance voltage-mode universal biquadratic filters each with three input terminals and one output terminal are presented. The first circuit is composed of three differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs), two grounded capacitors and four resistors. The second circuit is composed of two DVCCs, one differential difference current conveyor (DDCC), two grounded capacitors and four grounded resistors. The proposed circuits can realize all the standard filter functions, namely, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass filters by the selections of different input voltage terminals. The proposed circuits offer the features of high input impedance, using only grounded capacitors and low active and passive sensitivities. Moreover, the x ports of the DVCCs (or DDCC) in the proposed circuits are connected directly to resistors. This design offers the feature of a direct incorporation of the parasitic resistance at the x terminal of the DVCC (DDCC), Rx, as a part of the main resistance

Current-mode Biquadratic Universal Filter Design with Two Terminal Unity Gain Cells

    Get PDF
A grounded parallel lossy active inductor and two current-mode (CM) universal filters are presented in this paper. All the circuits use two voltage followers (VFs) and a current follower (CF). The parallel lossy active inductor includes a grounded capacitor which is attractive in integrated circuit (IC) technology. The CM universal filters have one input and standard three outputs such as band-pass (BP), low-pass (LP) and high-pass (HP) responses. All-pass and notch outputs can be obtained by adding extra one CF. Suggested structures in this paper can be constructed with commercially available active devices such as AD844s. Non-ideal gain and intrinsic X-terminal parasitic resistor effects are examined. Several computer simulations with SPICE program and experimental results by employing AD844s are drawn to verify theoretical ones

Biquadratic Filter Applications Using a Fully-Differential Active-Only Integrator

    Get PDF
A new class of active filters, real active-only filters is described and possible implementation issues of these filters are discussed. To remedy these issues, a fully-differential active-only integrator block built around current controlled current conveyors is presented. The integration frequency of the proposed circuit is adjustable over a wide frequency range. As an application, a real active-only filter based on the classical two-integrator loop topology is presented and designed. The feasibility of this filter in a 0.35µm CMOS process is verified through SPECTRE simulation program in the CADENCE design tool

High Input Impedance Voltage-Mode Biquad Filter Using VD-DIBAs

    Get PDF
This paper deals with a single-input multiple-output biquadratic filter providing three functions (low-pass, high-pass and band-pass) based on voltage differencing differential input buffered amplifier (VD-DIBA). The quality factor and pole frequency can be electronically tuned via the bias current. The proposed circuit uses two VD-DIBAs and two grounded capacitors without any external resistors, which is suitable to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the circuit possesses high input impedance, providing easy voltage-mode cascading. It is shown that the filter structure can be easily extended to multi-input filter without any additional components, providing also all-pass and band-reject properties. The PSPICE simulation and experimental results are included, verifying the key characteristics of the proposed filter. The given results agree well with the theoretical presumptions

    High-Order Current-Mode and Transimpedance-Mode Universal Filters with Multiple-Inputs and Two-Outputs Using MOCCIIs

    Get PDF
A high-order current-mode and transimpedance-mode universal filter with multiple-inputs and two-outputs based on multiple output second-generation current conveyors (MOCCIIs) is introduced. By choosing the input current terminals appropriately, the current-mode and transimpedance-mode lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch or allpass filters can be obtained without component matching conditions. The proposed nth order universal filter requires (n+1) MOCCIIs, (n+1) resistors and n grounded capacitors. As examples, the first-order, biquadratic and third-order universal filters are given and compared with previous published works

This research paper contributes the one input three output voltage mode universal biquad filters with linear and electronic control of the natural frequency (w0), using two commercially available ICs, LT1228s as active device with two grounded capacitors, five resistors. The presented universal biquad filters can simultaneously provide three voltage-mode filtering functions, low-pass (LP), high-pass (HP) and band-pass (BP) without changing the circuit architecture. Furthermore, the first presented biquad filter provides low impedance at HP, BP voltage output nodes and LP, BP output voltage nodes are low impedance for the second proposed filter which is easy cascade ability with other voltage mode circuits without the employment of buffer circuits. The quality factor (Q) of both proposed filters is orthogonally adjusted from the passband voltage gain and w0. The proposed filters are simulated and experimented with commercially accessible ICs, LT1228. The simulated and experimental results demonstrate the filtering performances
