Survivability Analysis of GSM Network Systems
The Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) is now a worldwide-accepted standard
for digital cellular systems. With the increasing of GSM popularity, customers are expecting a high level
of service, from which availability is considered the major measure of quality. This paper presents a
methodology for availability assessment of GSM systems. The availability block diagram model is
selected to model the system, taking into account the signal strength and signal covering overlaps exist in
GSM systems. The TEMS Cell Planner, TEMS Link Planner and Relex 8 are used to simulate the model
for real data. The real data is collected from Korek telecom, the first GSM system in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Finally recommendations are made to improve the availability within standards
Computational analysis of network survivability with application to power systems
AbstractThe operability of societyβs critical infrastructures depends on the availability of electric power. Adverse events (natural disasters, intelligent adversary, etc.) occur rarely, but power system failure under such conditions has typically devastating effects on the economy and lives. A key factor in the systemβs ability to withstand massive sudden damage caused by adverse events is its topology: the number of system elements that generate and demand power and the connections between them. The topology factor can be quantified by analyzing the impact of all possible combinations of unrecoverable faults (fault scenarios) on the availability and connectivity of system elements. As the number of possible fault scenarios grows as 2M with increasing number M of system elements, such an analysis becomes a computational challenge for large-scale systems. The paper discusses possibilities of reducing the computational complexity of the problem
Survivability of Deterministic Dynamical Systems
The notion of a part of phase space containing desired (or allowed) states of
a dynamical system is important in a wide range of complex systems research. It
has been called the safe operating space, the viability kernel or the sunny
region. In this paper we define the notion of survivability: Given a random
initial condition, what is the likelihood that the transient behaviour of a
deterministic system does not leave a region of desirable states. We
demonstrate the utility of this novel stability measure by considering models
from climate science, neuronal networks and power grids. We also show that a
semi-analytic lower bound for the survivability of linear systems allows a
numerically very efficient survivability analysis in realistic models of power
grids. Our numerical and semi-analytic work underlines that the type of
stability measured by survivability is not captured by common asymptotic
stability measures.Comment: 21 pages, 6 figure

The technique is based on the methodology of horizontal visibility graphs for individual words, bigrams and trigrams. It has been constructed and investigated a language network, formed on the basis of full texts of scientific papers on the issue of survivability
