    Get PDF
The third paper takes a holistic approach to examining the role of supply chain process integration in the customer orientation-innovation-performance framework. Results of an empirical study indicate that supply chain process integration is the missing link between customer orientation and service innovative capability and that service innovative capability plays a critical role between supply chain process integration and firm performance. This study also empirically confirms the sequential link between internal process integration and external process integration. The second paper focuses on defining and operationalizing the construct of supply chain process integration. An extensive literature review revealed no consensus in its conceptualization. With empirical support, it is proposed that internal and external supply chain process integration should be treated as two separate constructs, each comprised of two dimensions: connectivity and simplification. The dissertation follows a three paper format. In the first conceptual paper, it is suggested that supply chain integration should be understood from an internal-external perspective and a process view. A conceptual model is proposed based on the strategy-structure-performance (SSP) framework and the resource based view (RBV) of firms. Firms' strategic orientations and decision-making structures are examined as key factors of supply chain process integration. Furthermore, it is argued that superior performance is likely to be achieved when necessary supply chain capabilities are developed through supply chain process integration.Through examining supply chain process integration conceptually and empirically, this study makes significant contributions to future research on integration which have important implications for managers

Environmental sustainability is eminent concept for the corporate industry to manage internal and external resources for contemporary and future generation. This valued concept make beneficiary to its follower in terms of environment friendly reputation and gaining extra profit. Reverse supply chain (RSC) is one of the divisions of supply chain management that deals product return, waste reduction, recycle and reuse. The researchers have preferred this potential area based on particular case industry to observe how reverse supply chain can be used to protect and improve environmental hazards. The objectives of this paper are twofold. First, it offers a literature review on sustainability along with environment and supply chain in conjunction with reverse supply chain issue. Second, it develops a sustainable environment friendly model based on reverse supply chain theory. Later, model has been fitted in simulation environment through Simul8 package. The paper ultimately focused on sustainability (only dealt with environmental domain) along with reverse supply chain process in the hub of poultry industry of Bangladesh

Abstract- Creating the business models for supply chain process is the subject of modern scientific research in the field of strategic planning and management of the enterprise. Some theoretical and practical aspects have not yet received a comprehensive scientific substantiation. General problem of enterprise management is traditionally analyzed in the researches, and business modeling is not fully investigated. The current state of the economy and peculiarities of its development, as well as the transformational nature of the Russian economy, show that the most important theoretical and practical aspects, which require scientific attention and development, analysis and systematization, are the theoretical provisions of business modeling concept for supply chain process; clarification of the term "business model" for supply chain process of an industrial enterprise; definition of the main elements and substantiation of the technology of business model formation; systematization and generalization of modern methods of strategic analysis; formation of an integrated system for assessment the effectiveness of the enterprises business model for supply chain process. The issues of strategic development of the enterprise always arouse a great interest among researchers. Today, a significant number of business models have been created for the development of enterprises of various industry structures. The purpose of the article is to systematize the information about the creation of business models for supply chain process of industrial enterprises, to consider the features of the models use at the present stage. Scientific and theoretical basis of the research was the methods of analysis and synthesis, scientific abstraction, the use of quantitative and qualitative assessment methods, with the help of which the categories of the concept business model for the supply chain process were defined. Endogenous and exogenous factors, influencing the functioning of enterprises business models were identified. The article deals with the conceptual issues of the business model for the supply chain process formation, in particular, the essence and peculiarities of modern business models, as well as management approaches to the processes of development of enterprises business model for supply chain process. Antecedents and Consequences of Global Supply Chain Process Integration

    Get PDF
Global business executives and researchers recently highlight the importance of understanding the dynamics of supply chain process integration in a global context. The literature still lacks studies that provide a comprehensive understanding of the major antecedents and consequences of supply chain process integration from a global perspective. This dissertation builds on several theoretical foundations such as the resource based view (RBV), the relational view (RV) of the firm and transaction cost analysis (TCA) to develop a framework that explains the drivers and outcomes of global supply chain process integration. This global study responds to these challenges through exploring the antecedents and consequences of global supply chain process integration for 320 supply chain and purchasing managers that source from over 33 countries. A theoretical framework is proposed that builds on research in strategic management, supply chain management, and international business and tests 8 proposed hypotheses. One new construct – global supply chain process integration – is developed and tested. Another construct, logistics performance, is modified from its existing form in the current literature. Significant results and good fit indices tested with structural equation modeling generate a number of interesting implications for global supply chain managers and researchers. For executives and strategists who are concerned about better managing their supply chains, this study provides insights for how manufacturing firms can develop a competitive edge through a higher level of flexibility by integrating its supply chain processes with its global suppliers. The study also provides empirical evidence on how supplier flexibility in a global environment can lead to improvements in process and firm performance

Although the individual effects of supply chain process integration capabilities, information technology infrastructure and government policy on performance have to some extent been researched on, the joint effect has not been subjected to research. The objective of the study was to establish the joint effect of supply chain process integration capabilities, information technology infrastructure and government policy on supply chain performance of public universities in Kenya. It was hypothesized that the joint effect of supply chain process integration capabilities, information technology infrastructure and government policy on supply chain performance of public universities in Kenya is different from their individual effects. The study was guided by the resource based view (RBV). The study adopted a descriptive survey design.  A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 31 public universities in Kenya with a target of 62 respondents one from procurement and one from the information communication technology departments respectively. The response rate was 81 per cent. Descriptive statistics, correlation and regression techniques were used to analyze the collected data. The results of the study indicate that there is a joint effect of supply chain process integration capabilities, information technology infrastructure and government policy on supply chain performance of public universities in Kenya of R2 =0.688, F= 34.586, at P< 0.05. The implication of the study is that policy makers and implementers have to formulate superior supply chain process integration capabilities, information technology infrastructure and government policy to achieve high levels of supply chain performance in public universities. This can build robust and agile end to end supply chains, policies, procedures, and practices for attainment of competitive advantages in operations.
