THE LOSS OF IDENTITY OF SOME SUNDANESE CHILDREN IN BOGOR CITY DUE TO LACK OF EXPOSURE TO SUNDANESE LANGUAGE

Bogor is an area in West Java, whose native language is Sundanese. However, compared to other areas, most native speakers in Bogor City, especially children, cannot speak Sundanese. They tend to speak Bahasa Indonesia, at home and outside their home. Although Sundanese language is included in the local contents in the school curriculum, it does not help children to be able to speak Sundanese. At school this subject is considered to be one of the most difficult, not only to children whose parents are non-Sundanese but also to those of Sundanese parents. These children cannot speak their own mother tongue. Then how can they say that they are Sundanese? This certainly has made them lose their own identity. This paper will discuss some factors why Sundanese is no longer popularly used by most children in Bogor, and how they react to Sundanese language subject at school

REDUPLICATED WORDS IN SUNDANESE: The Study of Uniqueness of Local Language

The title of this study is “Reduplicated Words in Sundanese” which analyzes the morphological process in Sundanese. The purpose of the study is to analyze and also to find out the forms of reduplicated words and the kinds of semantic interpretation in Sundanese. Reduplication is the repetition of whole word or part of word. The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data were taken from Sundanesebookand Sundanese Dictionary. The results of this study shows that there are two forms of reduplicated words in Sundanese. Each form of reduplication consists of several parts and different kinds. They also have the various meanings from each other. The result of this study is expected to be a guide for readers to understand Sundanese

SUNDA ON INSTAGRAM: WHAT SUNDANESE USERS DO TO MAINTAIN THE LANGUAGE

In 2016, instagram ranks fifth as the most popular social media platform by active users and third by millennials. Indonesia has reached 22 million users from 400 million worldwide. Among the million Indonesia users, what Sundanese people do to express their language, particularly to maintain it? Therefore, the paper aims to; first, find out the purposes of the use of instagram account by Sundanese users and the later, to find out the idea/thoughts shared by Sundanese users on instagram. The research used qualitative research method. Further, the writer used some quote pictures and meme pictures as the data and sourced it from some quotes accounts created by Sundanese users on instagram. The steps of the study begins with: 1) Choosing some relevant quotes accounts, 2) classifying the accounts based on the content, 3) taking the data sample, 4) analyzing the samples by classifying them based on the ideas/thoughts the users share/focus on. In sum, there are two mainly purposes of Sundanese users on instagram. The first one is to deliver jokes mostly expressed by meme pictures and they have hugely many followers. The second one is the accounts which aim to share something like knowledge on Sundanese language, for instance, Sundanese vocabularies/mini dictionary, paribasa Sunda, Sundanese script, forum, games and another information about Sunda

Analysis of Sundanese Traditional Spatial Concepts on The Space and The Layout of Cibiuk Bandung Sundanese Restaurant

Cibiuk Sundanese Restaurants have several analyzes about the influence of Sundanese traditional house patterns as a function of traditional restaurants. These influences can be assessed with a spatial, circulation, and material selection approach used in the interior elements. In this study, the types of users are divided into focus, namely the main users (users who use restaurant facilities) who experience directly whether the traditional Sundanese atmosphere feels strong or not when they come as visitors, whether it\u27s just for eating (enjoying the available menu), or when doing other activities such as discussing, or meeting, or celebrating. The convenience of the user when performing various activities can be felt from the results of the achievement of the atmosphere of the formation of space, so that to obtain the results of the formation of spatial elements and traditional space organizational patterns, can provide comfort and friendliness to visitors. The aim of this research is to finally find out the standard Sundanese traditional spatial concepts that are applied to the spatial and layout design of Cibiuk Bandung Sundanese Restaurant, by also comparing it with several other Sundanese restaurants, such as Sunda Bancakan and Sambara Restaurant. LEXICON USING OF SUNDANESE LANGUAGE LEVEL IN “PUPUH DANGDANGGULA”

This study analyzes the morphology process of Sundanese language in “Pupuh Dangdanggula”, which focuses on lexicon, and which in Sundanese there are language levels of each society level.The aim of this study is to conserve the Sundanese culture of Pupuh Dangdanggula, which is one of Pupuh to make the people religious. This study has several objectives: (1) to analyze lexicon in Dangdanggula canto, and (2) to identify the language level in Dangdanggula canto. Lexicon is the linguist’s term for the language user’s mental dictionary.. One of the Sundanese language uniqueness is language level or manners (undak usuk basa). The language manners are divided into: polite (lemes), middle/intimate/normal (loma), and impolite (kasar). Pupuh is come from Sundanese language that is Pepeuh, is Sundanese traditional poetry or canto which has particular syllable amount and rhyme in each line. There are 17 types of pupuh, each has a special character and is used for different story theme. Pupuh Dangdanggula is one of Sundanese traditional canto. The methodology used in this study is qualitative method employing the data source from five cantos of “Pupuh Dangdanggula” in a book entitled “Wawacan dalam khasanah Sastra Sunda dan Suntingan Teks Wawacan Rawi Mulud” and in website http://www.tekslirik.com/pupuh-dangdanggula.html. The lexicon of the data were analyzed by using the theory of lexicon and were classified by the theory of Sundanese language manners and levels. The results are expected to find the used lexicon and the language level classification of the lexicon in Sundanese Canto of Dangdanggula. The result of the research showed that: (1) there are the lexicon of the two lexicon categories in Dangdanggula canto, and (2) the lexicon using in Dangdanggula canto consists of normal and polite lexicon of Sundanese language level. THE USE OF BAHASA INDONESIA AMONG SUNDANESE TEENAGERS IN CIHELEUT–BOGOR, WEST JAVA

Sundanese is a langugae which is used in Bogor, West Java as cultural identity. The use of Sundanese in Bogor is greatly decreasing because of the use of Indonesian as the national langugae. This phenomenon also leads up the teenagers in Bogor to use Bahasa Indonesia rather than Sundanese. Therefore this research is purposed to find out the certain domain in using Bahasa Indonesia, and the factors that influence the use of Bahasa Indonesia. To get the accurate results, the research is done by collecting the questioner from the teenagers. The observation about what kind of language which is used by the teenagers also supports to get explanation in detail. Therefore, the research concludes that Bahasa Indonesia has replaces Sundanese, which is vernacular language in Bogor. The research found out that the teenagers use Bahasa Indonesiain some certain domains. The factors that support the teenagers in using Bahasa Indonesia are their family, domain, attitudes, and the economic, social and political factors

FIGURE OF SPEECH BASED ON SHORT DRAMA USING SUNDANESE LANGUAGE

The purpose of this case study is going to analyze the process of figure of speech in Sundanese language, being taken from some brief examples of dramas. This study aims to find some forms of figure of speech cases along with the implementation that can be found inside the drama's conversation. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative method, which means most of this research has been done at home by the writer and data that are used has been taken from the Sundanese – Indonesian & Indonesian – Sundanese Online Dictionary as one of the main source. Figure of speech can be defined as a style of language or style beautiful language that aims to beautify the words or leave a certain impression and effect to readers both orally and written. Those sentences which have a figure of speech meaning can have the function as well to obtain certain shades of language and to create impressions of more imaginative words.The result of this study is expected to open up new insights about figure of speech in Sundanese language and strongly recommended to be used as reference in future studies as well as a guide in Sundanese language teaching at schools and academies that will enlighten student's mind.
