Optimization of approximate inhibitory rules relative to number of misclassifications

In this work, we consider so-called nonredundant inhibitory rules, containing an expression "attribute≠ value" on the right-hand side, for which the number of misclassifications is at most a threshold y. We study a dynamic programming approach for description of the considered set of rules. This approach allows also the optimization of nonredundant inhibitory rules relative to the length and coverage [1, 2]. The aim of this paper is to investigate an additional possibility of optimization relative to the number of misclassifications. The results of experiments with decision tables from the UCI Machine Learning Repository [3] show this additional optimization achieves a fewer misclassifications. Thus, the proposed optimization procedure is promising

On Testing Membership to Maximal Consistent Extensions of Information Systems

Abstract. This paper provides a new algorithm for testing membership to maximal consistent extensions of information systems. A maximal consistent extension of a given information system includes all objects corresponding to known attribute values which are consistent with all true and realizable rules extracted from the original information system. An algorithm presented here does not involve computing any rules, and has polynomial time complexity. This algorithm is based on a simpler criterion for membership testing than the algorithm described i

Abstract. The aim of the paper is presentation of some results that concern consistent extensions and consistent restrictions of information systems and decision systems. It is possible to determine them on the base of knowledge contained in rules generated from a given information (decision) system. The paper presents a way of consistent extensions and consistent restrictions determining, different from the one mentioned above. The paper contains also the definitions of notions of strict consistent extension (restriction) system and a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of them for information (decision) system
