    Robust hybrid global asymptotic stabilization of rigid body dynamics using dual quaternions

    A hybrid feedback control scheme is proposed for stabilization of rigid body dynamics (pose and velocities) using unit dual quaternions, in which the dual quaternions and veloc- ities are used for feedback. It is well-known that rigid body attitude control is subject to topological constraints which often result in discontinuous control to avoid the unwinding phenomenon. In contrast, the hybrid scheme allows the controlled system to be robust in the presence of uncertainties, which would otherwise cause chattering about the point of discontinuous control while also ensuring acceptable closed-loop response characteristics. The stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed through a Lyapunov analysis and the use of invariance principles for hybrid systems. Simulation results for a rigid body model are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed hybrid dual quaternion feedback control scheme

    Simultaneous Position and Attitude Control Without Linear and Angular Velocity Feedback Using Dual Quaternions

    Presented at American Control Conference, Washington, DC, June 17-19, 2013.In this paper, we suggest a new representation for the combined translational and rotational dynamic equations of motion of a rigid body in terms of dual quaternions. We show that with this representation it is relatively straightforward to extend existing attitude controllers based on quaternions to combined position and attitude controllers based on dual quaternions. We show this by developing setpoint nonlinear controllers for the position and attitude of a rigid body with and without linear and angular velocity feedback based on existing attitude-only controllers with and without angular velocity feedback. The combined position and attitude velocity-free controller exploits the passivity of the rigid body dynamics and can be used when no linear and angular velocity measurements are available

    Dual Quaternion Framework for Modeling of Spacecraft-Mounted Multibody Robotic Systems

    This paper lays out a framework to model the kinematics and dynamics of a rigid spacecraft-mounted multibody robotic system. The framework is based on dual quaternion algebra, which combines rotational and translational information in a compact representation. Based on a Newton-Euler formulation, the proposed framework sets up a system of equations in which the dual accelerations of each of the bodies and the reaction wrenches at the joints are the unknowns. Five different joint types are considered in this framework via simple changes in certain mapping matrices that correspond to the joint variables. This differs from previous approaches that require the addition of extra terms that are joint-type dependent, and which decouple the rotational and translational dynamics

    Distributed optimization of multi-agent systems: Framework, local optimizer, and applications

    Convex optimization problem can be solved in a centralized or distributed manner. Compared with centralized methods based on single-agent system, distributed algorithms rely on multi-agent systems with information exchanging among connected neighbors, which leads to great improvement on the system fault tolerance. Thus, a task within multi-agent system can be completed with presence of partial agent failures. By problem decomposition, a large-scale problem can be divided into a set of small-scale sub-problems that can be solved in sequence/parallel. Hence, the computational complexity is greatly reduced by distributed algorithm in multi-agent system. Moreover, distributed algorithm allows data collected and stored in a distributed fashion, which successfully overcomes the drawbacks of using multicast due to the bandwidth limitation. Distributed algorithm has been applied in solving a variety of real-world problems. Our research focuses on the framework and local optimizer design in practical engineering applications. In the first one, we propose a multi-sensor and multi-agent scheme for spatial motion estimation of a rigid body. Estimation performance is improved in terms of accuracy and convergence speed. Second, we develop a cyber-physical system and implement distributed computation devices to optimize the in-building evacuation path when hazard occurs. The proposed Bellman-Ford Dual-Subgradient path planning method relieves the congestion in corridor and the exit areas. At last, highway traffic flow is managed by adjusting speed limits to minimize the fuel consumption and travel time in the third project. Optimal control strategy is designed through both centralized and distributed algorithm based on convex problem formulation. Moreover, a hybrid control scheme is presented for highway network travel time minimization. Compared with no controlled case or conventional highway traffic control strategy, the proposed hybrid control strategy greatly reduces total travel time on test highway network

O grupo de Lie dos quatérnios duais proporciona um modo eficiente de representar a cinemática linear e rotacional de um corpo rígido sem singularidades.
