Review of Microfinance Schemes in Haryana with focus on Mewat

Inspite of the fact that Haryana is a fast developing state of India, yet it is grappling with the problem of development of a backward district like Mewat (newly carved out district from Gurgaon and Faridabad). Since Microfinance is considered as one of the major tools of poverty alleviation, this paper describes the various microfinance schemes in Haryana with focus on Mewat. The Mewat Development Agency has been set up at the district level to overview and to monitor the progress of various schemes being implemented under the Mewat Development Board, set up by the Government of Haryana in 1980, as an extra effort of development apart from the normal plan schemes. The Mewat Development Agency is actively promoting Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through its Federation. Mewat has been severely lagging behind in terms of socio-economic parameters of development and the problem is further aggravated due to the rigid socio-cultural mindset of the area. Besides examining the various microfinance schemes in operation in Haryana, an attempt has also been made to highlight the shortcomings of the schemes

Self Help Groups – An Empowerment Model or Financial Model: Perceptions of Stakeholders

Economic and social marginalisation of poor by formal credit agencies including cooperatives led to the emergence of Self Help Groups (SHGs). SHGs emerge as an important strategy for empowering women, alleviating poverty and act as alternative credit source to the poor. Researchers identify SHGs as both empowerment and financial model of development.  Sa-Dhan (2003) has sort out a lot of unresolved issues in quality assessment of SHGs for further discussion and research. The main objective of this paper is to assess the opinion of the direct stakeholders of SHGs regarding the issue whether SHG is an empowerment model or financial model. The study is conducted by using multi-stage random sampling method to collect primary data from the selected Development Blocks of Nagaon districts of Assam. It is observed that there is no correlation between perceptions of stakeholders about SHG as Empowerment & Financial model. Moreover, from the ANOVA test on overall score of variables on empowerment model, we conclude that at least one of the group mean is significantly different from the others while in case of overall score of variables on financial model, we conclude that the group mean is not significantly different from the others. On Preserving the Behavior in Software Refactoring: A Systematic Mapping Study

Context: Refactoring is the art of modifying the design of a system without altering its behavior. The idea is to reorganize variables, classes and methods to facilitate their future adaptations and comprehension. As the concept of behavior preservation is fundamental for refactoring, several studies, using formal verification, language transformation and dynamic analysis, have been proposed to monitor the execution of refactoring operations and their impact on the program semantics. However, there is no existing study that examines the available behavior preservation strategies for each refactoring operation. Objective: This paper identifies behavior preservation approaches in the research literature. Method: We conduct, in this paper, a systematic mapping study, to capture all existing behavior preservation approaches that we classify based on several criteria including their methodology, applicability, and their degree of automation. Results: The results indicate that several behavior preservation approaches have been proposed in the literature. The approaches vary between using formalisms and techniques, developing automatic refactoring safety tools, and performing a manual analysis of the source code. Conclusion: Our taxonomy reveals that there exist some types of refactoring operations whose behavior preservation is under-researched. Our classification also indicates that several possible strategies can be combined to better detect any violation of the program semantics

A review of choice-based revenue management : theory and methods

Over the last fifteen years, the theory and practice of revenue management has experienced significant developments due to the need to incorporate customer choice behavior. In this paper, we portray these developments by reviewing the key literature on choice-based revenue management, specifically focusing on methodological publications of availability control over the years 2004–2017. For this purpose, we first state the choice-based network revenue management problem by formulating the underlying dynamic program, and structure the review according to its components and the resulting inherent challenges. In particular, we first focus on the demand modeling by giving an overview of popular choice models, discussing their properties, and describing estimation procedures relevant to choice-based revenue management. Second, we elaborate on assortment optimization, which is a fundamental component of the problem. Third, we describe recent developments on tackling the entire control problem. We also discuss the relation to dynamic pricing. Finally, we give directions for future research

Memoized zipper-based attribute grammars and their higher order extension

Attribute grammars are a powerfull, well-known formalism to implement and reason about programs which, by design, are conveniently modular. In this work we focus on a state of the art zipper-based embedding of classic attribute grammars and higher-order attribute grammars. We improve their execution performance through controlling attribute (re)evaluation by means of memoization techniques. We present the results of our optimizations by comparing their impact in various implementations of different, well-studied, attribute grammars and their Higher-Order extensions. Reuse and integration of specification logics: the hybridisation perspective

Hybridisation is a systematic process along which the characteristic features of hybrid logic, both at the syntactic and the semantic levels, are developed on top of an arbitrary logic framed as an institution. It also captures the construction of first-order encodings of such hybridised institutions into theories in first-order logic. The method was originally developed to build suitable logics for the specification of reconfigurable software systems on top of whatever logic is used to describe local requirements of each system’s configuration. Hybridisation has, however, a broader scope, providing a fresh example of yet another development in combining and reusing logics driven by a problem from Computer Science. This paper offers an overview of this method, proposes some new extensions, namely the introduction of full quantification leading to the specification of dynamic modalities, and exemplifies its potential through a didactical application.
