    Multiobjective nonfragile fuzzy control for nonlinear stochastic financial systems with mixed time delays

    In this study, a multiobjective nonfragile control is proposed for a class of stochastic Takagi and Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems with mixed time delays to guarantee the optimal H2 and H∞ performance simultaneously. Firstly, based on the T–S fuzzy model, two form of nonfragile state feedback controllers are designed to stabilize the T–S fuzzy system, that is to say, nonfragile state feedback controllers minimize the H2 and H∞ performance simultaneously. Then, by applying T–S fuzzy approach, the multiobjective H2/H∞ nonfragile fuzzy control problem is transformed into linear matrix inequality (LMI)-constrained multiobjective problem (MOP). In addition, we efficiently solve Pareto optimal solutions for the MOP by employing LMI-based multiobjective evolution algorithm (MOEA). Finally, the validity of this approach is illustrated by a realistic design example

    Robust control design for vehicle active suspension systems with uncertainty

    A vehicle active suspension system, in comparison with its counterparts, plays a crucial role in adequately guarantee the stability of the vehicle and improve the suspension performances. With a full understanding of the state of the art in vehicle control systems, this thesis identifies key issues in robust control design for active suspension systems with uncertainty, contributes to enhance the suspension performances via handling tradeoffs between ride comfort, road holding and suspension deflection. Priority of this thesis is to emphasize the contributions in handing actuator-related challenges and suspension model parameter uncertainty. The challenges in suspension actuators are identified as time-varying actuator delay and actuator faults. Time-varying delay and its effects in suspension actuators are targeted and analyzed. By removing the assumptions from the state of the art methods, state-feedback and output-feedback controller design methods are proposed to design less conservative state-feedback and output-feedback controller existence conditions. It overcomes the challenges brought by generalized timevarying actuator delay. On the other hand, a novel fault-tolerant controller design algorithm is developed for active suspension systems with uncertainty of actuator faults. A continuous-time homogeneous Markov process is presented for modeling the actuator failure process. The fault-tolerant H∞ controller is designed to guarantee asymptotic the stability, H∞ performance, and the constrained performance with existing possible actuator failures. It is evident that vehicle model parameter uncertainty is a vital factor affecting the performances of suspension control system. Consequently, this thesis presents two robust control solutions to overcome suspension control challenges with nonlinear constraints. A novel fuzzy control design algorithm is presented for active suspension systems with uncertainty. By using the sector nonlinearity method, Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems are used to model the system. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a new reliable fuzzy controller is designed to improve suspension performances. A novel adaptive sliding mode controller design approach is also developed for nonlinear uncertain vehicle active suspension systems. An adaptive sliding mode controller is designed to guarantee the stability and improve the suspension performances. In conclusion, novel control design algorithms are proposed for active suspension systems with uncertainty in order to guarantee and improve the suspension performance. Simulation results and comparison with the state of the art methods are provided to evaluate the effectiveness of the research contributions.     Finite-time anti-synchronization of multi-weighted coupled neural networks with and without coupling delays

    The multi-weighted coupled neural networks (MWCNNs) models with and without coupling delays are investigated in this paper. Firstly, the finite-time anti-synchronization of MWCNNs with fixed topology and switching topology is analyzed respectively by utilizing Lyapunov functional approach as well as some inequality techniques, and several anti-synchronization criteria are put forward for the considered networks. Furthermore, when the parameter uncertainties appear in MWCNNs, some conditions for ensuring robust finite-time anti-synchronization are obtained. Similarly, we also consider the finite-time anti-synchronization and robust finite-time anti-synchronization for MWCNNs with coupling delays under fixed and switched topologies respectively. Lastly, two numerical examples with simulations are provided to confirm the effectiveness of these derived results

    Open Mathematics is a challenging notion for theoretical modeling, technical analysis, and numerical simulation in physics and mathematics, as well as in many other fields, as highly correlated nonlinear phenomena, evolving over a large range of time scales and length scales, control the underlying systems and processes in their spatiotemporal evolution. Indeed, available data, be they physical, biological, or financial, and technologically complex systems and stochastic systems, such as mechanical or electronic devices, can be managed from the same conceptual approach, both analytically and through computer simulation, using effective nonlinear dynamics methods. The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight papers that show the dynamics, control, optimization and applications of nonlinear systems. This has recently become an increasingly popular subject, with impressive growth concerning applications in engineering, economics, biology, and medicine, and can be considered a veritable contribution to the literature. Original papers relating to the objective presented above are especially welcome subjects.     Vehicle Stability Control Considering the Driver-in-the-Loop

    A driver‐in‐the‐loop modeling framework is essential for a full analysis of vehicle stability systems. In theory, knowing the vehicle’s desired path (driver’s intention), the problem is reduced to a standard control system in which one can use different methods to produce a (sub) optimal solution. In practice, however, estimation of a driver’s desired path is a challenging – if not impossible – task. In this thesis, a new formulation of the problem that integrates the driver and the vehicle model is proposed to improve vehicle performance without using additional information from the future intention of the driver. The driver’s handling technique is modeled as a general function of the road preview information as well as the dynamic states of the vehicle. In order to cover a variety of driving styles, the time‐ varying cumulative driver's delay and model uncertainties are included in the formulation. Given that for practical implementations, the driver’s future road preview data is not accessible, this information is modeled as bounded uncertainties. Subsequently, a state feedback controller is designed to counteract the negative effects of a driver’s lag while makes the system robust to modeling and process uncertainties. The vehicle’s performance is improved by redesigning the controller to consider a parameter varying model of the driver‐vehicle system. An LPV controller robust to unknown time‐varying delay is designed and the disturbance attenuation of the closed loop system is estimated. An approach is constructed to identify the time‐varying parameters of the driver model using past driving information. The obtained gains are clustered into several modes and the transition probability of switching between different driving‐styles (modes) is calculated. Based on this analysis, the driver‐vehicle system is modeled as a Markovian jump dynamical system. Moreover, a complementary analysis is performed on the convergence properties of the mode‐dependent controller and a tighter estimation for the maximum level of disturbance rejection of the LPV controller is obtained. In addition, the effect of a driver’s skills in controlling the vehicle while the tires are saturated is analyzed. A guideline for analysis of the nonlinear system performance with consideration to the driver’s skills is suggested.
