    Recent Advances in Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Ultrasound Scanning

TARTAGLIA takes place under the R&D Missions in Artificial Intelligence program, which is part of the Spain Digital 2025 Agenda and the Spanish National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.Ultrasound (US) is a flexible imaging modality used globally as a first-line medical exam procedure in many different clinical cases. It benefits from the continued evolution of ultrasonic technologies and a well-established US-based digital health system. Nevertheless, its diagnostic performance still presents challenges due to the inherent characteristics of US imaging, such as manual operation and significant operator dependence. Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven to recognize complicated scan patterns and provide quantitative assessments for imaging data. Therefore, AI technology has the potential to help physicians get more accurate and repeatable outcomes in the US. In this article, we review the recent advances in AI-assisted US scanning. We have identified the main areas where AI is being used to facilitate US scanning, such as standard plane recognition and organ identification, the extraction of standard clinical planes from 3D US volumes, and the scanning guidance of US acquisitions performed by humans or robots. In general, the lack of standardization and reference datasets in this field makes it difficult to perform comparative studies among the different proposed methods. The majority of today's working population, however, is well aware that smart technology is actively reshaping the business world. It's true despite the fact that AI has traditionally been associated with science fiction. Human resources are one of the most notable uses of AI today, but it is not an exception to the rule that AI can be used to practically any sector or profession. According to the results of a recent survey conducted by Oracle and Future Workplace, human resource professionals are optimistic that AI will open up opportunities for learning new skills and gaining more personal time.     “Automation” of manufacturing in the late nineteenth century: the hand and machine labor study

    Recent advances in artificial intelligence and robotics have generated a robust debate about the future of work. An analogous debate occurred in the late nineteenth century when mechanization first transformed manufacturing. We analyze an extraordinary dataset from the late nineteenth century, the Hand and Machine Labor study carried out by the US Department of Labor in the mid-1890s. We focus on transitions at the task level from hand to machine production, and on the impact of inanimate power, especially of steam power, on labor productivity. Our analysis sheds light on the ability of modern task-based models to account for the effects of historical mechanization.Published versio

    Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision have enabled detailed mapping of urban spaces at scale using street-level imagery data. In this talk, we present an end-to-end process of mapping sidewalks and street furniture from the collection of high-resolution panoramic sidewalk view images to producing detailed spatial point and line data layers representing the walking infrastructure. We demonstrate the applicability of the developed AI-powered process in a sidewalk mapping project in Sydney
