Parathyroid Double Adenoma Associated with Papillary Carcinoma of Thyroid
It has been reported that thyroid disease is common in patients with hyperparathyroidism, and vice versa. Parathyroid adenoma is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Hypercalcemia is an important laboratory finding in the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. There have been sporadic reports of the coexistence of hyperparathyroidism and non-medulary carcinoma, but the association of parathyroid adenoma and papillary carcinoma of the thyroid is not well known. This is a rare report of the coexistent occurrence of papillary carcinoma of thyroid and double adenoma of parathyroid. The case is a 52-year-old woman with a 10-year history of pain in lower extremities, with initial diagnosis of osteoporosis and no clinical improvement despite using drugs. The patient was diagnosed as a case of hyperparathyroidism, using elevated concentration of calcium and PTH and metabolic bone disease (according to the isotope bone scan). In addition to parathyroid adenomas, a firm nodule in the thyroid was detected during the surgery. Therefore, lobectomy as well as hyperparathyroidectomy was performed. In pathologic examination, parathyroid double adenoma and papillary carcinoma of the thyroid were revealed

A Unique Presentation of Concomitant Hypo-Hyperdontia in Seven Year Old Child: A Rare Report
Numerical variations of teeth are common. Hypodontia considered being presence of less number of teeth in normal complement while extra teeth to normal dentition are considered as hyperdontia. Hypodontia and hyperdontia are two opposite numerical variations of human dentition and occurrence of these two conditions is called as concomitant hypo-hyperdontia. The occurrence of hypo-hyperdontia in a patient is common. This report describes a rare occurrence of conical shape supernumerary teeth in premolar region and agenesis of tooth 55 and 81 in primary dentition and teeth 15, 25 and 41 in permanent dentition.DOI: 10.14693/jdi.v22i3.97
Giant saccular abdominal aortic aneurysm with manifestation of gastric inlet obstruction mimicking a fundal gastrointestinal stromal tumor: A report on an unexpected case
We present an extremely rare report on gastric inlet obstruction due to giant abdominal aortic aneurysm. Despite the rare occurrence of this manifestation, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of gastric inlet obstructions. © 2021 The Authors. An Efficient Uplink Multi-Connectivity Scheme for 5G mmWave Control Plane Applications
The millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies offer the potential of orders of
magnitude increases in capacity for next-generation cellular systems. However,
links in mmWave networks are susceptible to blockage and may suffer from rapid
variations in quality. Connectivity to multiple cells - at mmWave and/or
traditional frequencies - is considered essential for robust communication. One
of the challenges in supporting multi-connectivity in mmWaves is the
requirement for the network to track the direction of each link in addition to
its power and timing. To address this challenge, we implement a novel uplink
measurement system that, with the joint help of a local coordinator operating
in the legacy band, guarantees continuous monitoring of the channel propagation
conditions and allows for the design of efficient control plane applications,
including handover, beam tracking and initial access. We show that an
uplink-based multi-connectivity approach enables less consuming, better
performing, faster and more stable cell selection and scheduling decisions with
respect to a traditional downlink-based standalone scheme. Moreover, we argue
that the presented framework guarantees (i) efficient tracking of the user in
the presence of the channel dynamics expected at mmWaves, and (ii) fast
reaction to situations in which the primary propagation path is blocked or not
