Integrable discretizations of a two-dimensional Hamiltonian system with a quartic potential

In this paper, we propose integrable discretizations of a two-dimensional Hamiltonian system with quartic potentials. Using either the method of separation of variables or the method based on bilinear forms, we construct the corresponding integrable mappings for the first three among four integrable cases

Model-based testing for space-time interaction using point processes: An application to psychiatric hospital admissions in an urban area

Spatio-temporal interaction is inherent to cases of infectious diseases and occurrences of earthquakes, whereas the spread of other events, such as cancer or crime, is less evident. Statistical significance tests of space-time clustering usually assess the correlation between the spatial and temporal (transformed) distances of the events. Although appealing through simplicity, these classical tests do not adjust for the underlying population nor can they account for a distance decay of interaction. We propose to use the framework of an endemic-epidemic point process model to jointly estimate a background event rate explained by seasonal and areal characteristics, as well as a superposed epidemic component representing the hypothesis of interest. We illustrate this new model-based test for space-time interaction by analysing psychiatric inpatient admissions in Zurich, Switzerland (2007-2012). Several socio-economic factors were found to be associated with the admission rate, but there was no evidence of general clustering of the cases.Comment: 21 pages including 4 figures and 5 tables; methods are implemented in the R package surveillance (https://CRAN.R-project.org/package=surveillance

Abstract The strike action carried out by workers / labor unions incorporated in the labor union / labor union PUK SPL FSPMI PT Smelting is the result of the collapse of the PKB-8 negotiations conducted by PT Smelting company with the union / labor union PUK SPL FSPMI PT Smelting and SKS. Deadlines approved by the parties to the PKB-8 Bargaining Rule have been passed, resulting in different interpretations between the parties. Unions argue that endorsement approval is deadlock and leads to work strikes, while the company has not reached a dead end because the company is still willing to negotiate resulting in unilateral dismissal and unilateral reimbursement of workers by the company. . This study specifically examines strikes by workers / workers and checks for unemployment and unilateral worker reimbursement by companies and what remedies can be taken by workers who are dismissed and reimbursed unilaterally by the company. The purpose of this research is to know the suitability of strike done by worker / labor and dismissal and unilateral worker replacement by company side with provisions as regulated in UUK. The type of research is normative law research using approach of legislation and case approach. Types of legal materials comprise primary, secondary, and non-legal legal materials. Techniques of collecting legal materials with literature study techniques and interviews. Prescriptive method analysis technique. The result of the research shows strike conducted by the workers / laborers who are united in the union / labor union PUK SPL FSPMI PT Smelting is valid according to the laws and regulations. Acts of unemployment and unilateral reimbursement by the company of PT Smelting are wrong for violating the provision of Article 144 of UUK. Legal efforts that can be done by the workers, both the scope of litigation and non litigation as in the provisions of Law Number 2 Year 2004 on Industrial Relations Dispute Settlement. The researchers recommendation in relation to this case is to comply with all existing legislation prior to committing an act which would result to either party or both parties, and to seek the first bipartite negotiation in the event of a dispute. Keywords: PT Smelting, strike, layoffs, replacement of unilateral workers

A Correspondence between Maximal Abelian Sub-Algebras and Linear Logic Fragments

We show a correspondence between a classification of maximal abelian sub-algebras (MASAs) proposed by Jacques Dixmier and fragments of linear logic. We expose for this purpose a modified construction of Girard's hyperfinite geometry of interaction which interprets proofs as operators in a von Neumann algebra. The expressivity of the logic soundly interpreted in this model is dependent on properties of a MASA which is a parameter of the interpretation. We also unveil the essential role played by MASAs in previous geometry of interaction constructions

    Turbo EP-based Equalization: a Filter-Type Implementation

This manuscript has been submitted to Transactions on Communications on September 7, 2017; revised on January 10, 2018 and March 27, 2018; and accepted on April 25, 2018 We propose a novel filter-type equalizer to improve the solution of the linear minimum-mean squared-error (LMMSE) turbo equalizer, with computational complexity constrained to be quadratic in the filter length. When high-order modulations and/or large memory channels are used the optimal BCJR equalizer is unavailable, due to its computational complexity. In this scenario, the filter-type LMMSE turbo equalization exhibits a good performance compared to other approximations. In this paper, we show that this solution can be significantly improved by using expectation propagation (EP) in the estimation of the a posteriori probabilities. First, it yields a more accurate estimation of the extrinsic distribution to be sent to the channel decoder. Second, compared to other solutions based on EP the computational complexity of the proposed solution is constrained to be quadratic in the length of the finite impulse response (FIR). In addition, we review previous EP-based turbo equalization implementations. Instead of considering default uniform priors we exploit the outputs of the decoder. Some simulation results are included to show that this new EP-based filter remarkably outperforms the turbo approach of previous versions of the EP algorithm and also improves the LMMSE solution, with and without turbo equalization

Generalised global supersolutions with mass control for systems with taxis

The existence of generalised global supersolutions with a control upon the total mass is established for a wide family of parabolic-parabolic chemotaxis systems and general integrable initial data in any space dimension. It is verified that as long as a supersolution of this sort remains smooth, it coincides with the classical solution. At the same time, the proposed construction provides solvability beyond a blow-up time. The considered class of systems includes the basic form of the Keller-Segel model as well as the case of a chemorepellent.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1804.0533

Analycity and smoothing effect for the coupled system of equations of Korteweg - de Vries type with a single point singularity

We study that a solution of the initial value problem associated for the coupled system of equations of Korteweg - de Vries type which appears as a model to describe the strong interaction of weakly nonlinear long waves, has analyticity in time and smoothing effect up to real analyticity if the initial data only has a single point singularity at $x=0.
