The existing use of mobile technology nowadays can be integrated with various forms of learning materials such as electronic books and digital references in a form of dictionary or encyclopaedia. The expansion of Islamic banking practices through various local financial institutions which received vast attention nowadays by educationists and learners for instance, leads to the need in understanding the terminologies used in the industry. In view of this scenario, the paper shed some light on using a workable model for developing a purposeful mobile Islamic banking terminology glossary application in a more convenient way via mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad or any Android-based smart gadgets. The mobile terminology glossary app was designed by using a developmental research design using via rapid prototype instructional design model. The process begun with a need analysis conducted among 225 respondents in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) It further explored the prototype development and its implementations for mobile accessibility by providing multilingual glossary of Islamic banking and finance terminologies (Malay-Arabic-English). This paper reports the findings design and development prototype based on the need analysis stage, inclusive of mapping users’ device type, Internet accessibility, reasons for owning mobile devices, delivery and user interface, and preferred features to be embedded in the mobile app

Newer development in mobile technology allows the use of hand phone which can be extended not only to communication but also to other personal life styles such as digital references in a form of dictionary or encyclopaedia, to the users for just in time, just enough, and just for me access of information. One of the areas that received vast attention nowadays by educationists and learners alike is the area of Islamic banking and finance. The expansion of Islamic banking practices through various local financial institutions leads to the need in understanding the terminologies used in the industry in “just-in-time” manner due to the dynamism of the field itself. In view of this scenario, the present research seeks to shed some light using a workable model for developing a purposeful mobile Islamic banking terminology glossary app in a more convenient way and made it operational via devices such as iPhone, iPad or any Android-based smart gadgets. It further explored the prototype development and its implementations for mobile accessibility by providing multilingual glossary of Islamic banking and finance terminologies (Malay-Arabic-English). The translation of specific terms from any academic field needs collaboration between experts both from the language and subject domains. This paper reports the findings of the need analysis stage, inclusive of mapping users’ device type, Internet accessibility, reasons for owning mobile devices, delivery and user interface, and preferred features to be embedded in the mobile app

The teaching and learning of the Arabic language has been using traditional methods and textbooks for a very long time. The language has been used and taught for various reasons including communication purpose. However, in this era of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the needs to produce the interactive and technology-based learning and teaching tools have been the area of research by various fields of knowledge. Hence, the huge use of mobile gadgets as Tablet PC, smartphones, I-Pads and so on has the learners to adapt with the mobile revolution in their learning preference of various educational application such as many Apps that are available in Google Store. This project was focusing on the design, development and evaluation of a mobile language guide application in Arabic language for Mutawwif (Umrah Tour Guide) VIA smart phones especially in Android supported platforms. Once completed, the project is expected to produce a mobile App of teaching and learning Arabic among Mutawwif (Umrah Tour Guide) via interactive mobile App prototype, which could enhance the learners’ self-motivation and language learning for traveller’s purpose. It will be helping the Mutawwif to communicate in Arabic more effectively and efficiently. The App also has the potential market to be commercialized and expanded to others umrah and Hajj travel and tours companies in Malaysia and all over the world

This article discusses the level of M-learning needed in Arabic language learning. This was a quantitative study using questionnaires as a research instrument for obtaining data. A total of 272 students were involved in this study. The method of analysis used was descriptive. The data obtained were analysed using the SPSS version 24.0 software to obtain percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings showed that respondents’ perceptions of factors affecting the implementation of mobile learning and the level of readiness of mobile learning are at a high level. Hence, the concept of mobile learning is very useful in learning Arabic in this new era of learning. In addition, the findings showed that students had sufficient knowledge and awareness to use mobile technology in their educational environment. This study is very useful for those who want to develop mobile learning applications. Signaling principle makes people learn better when cues that highlight important materials are added. Therefore, this study is carried out to determine the effect of the principle in asmaul husna mobile application among Muslim on knowledge and perceived awareness on the context and perceived motivation of the learning material. As a contribution to the body of knowledge, this study hybridizes Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML) with signaling principle. It will disclose the benefits of learning though mobile towards bridging theory to practice particularly in Islamic mobile application. The proposed design and development of Signaling Principle Mobile Application (SPMA) will assist multimedia practitioners or developers in designing and developing Islamic multimedia learning application particularly in educating Muslim in asmaul husna with the assimilation of Signaling Principle and Nielsen’s Design Guidelines. This study is classified into quantitative category and utilizes quasiexperimental approach using pre-test and post-test factorial design, and the design and development phase in this study will be governed by Alessi and Trollip Instructional Design Model

Many educational mobile applications available in the market use multimedia principles in several aspects. However, the user interface design component is often disregarded. Therefore, such applications are less effective in engaging users in learning content with excitement and motivation. Therefore, this project is being worked on to meet those needs. A study on mobile applications hybridized with the Signaling principle and Nielsen guidelines through the construction of the NSPIxD model was carried out. Two mobile applications were designed, developed, and evaluated, and the Alessi and Trollip Instructional Design Models were adapted in both applications. The first mobile application, AHMA-0, serves as the base model. Instead, the AHMA-NSPIxD is integrated with the NSPIxD model, accompanied by a hybridization of the Signal principles and Nielsen design guidelines. Three parameters were measured, evaluated, and compared between AHMA-0 and AHMA-NSPIxD. The relevant parameters are; students’ knowledge and awareness of the topic and student motivation to use learning materials on the subject. It was found that AHMA-NSPIxD outperformed AHMA-0. Accordingly, it proves that practical applications can be produced at all levels by considering users' needs. Further, these findings emphasize the importance of critically considering user interfaces' technical and aesthetic aspects, contributing to advancing interaction design knowledge
