Business process modelling is an increasingly popular research area for both organisations and enterprises due to its usefulness in facilitating better planning of resources, business reengineering and optimized business performance. The modelling and simulation of Business Processes has been able to show Business Analysts, and Managers where bottleneck exists in the system, how to optimize the Business Process to reduce cost of running the Organization, and the required resources needed for an Organization An important part of the evaluation of designed and redesigned business processes is Business Process Simulation (BPS). Although an abundance of simulation tools exist, the applicability of these tools is diverse. In this paper we thrash out a number of simulation tools that are applicable for the BPM field, we estimate their applicability for BPS and formulate recommendations for further research. This paper is limited to analysis three tools that is IBM WebSphere, FLOWer and FileNet (process management); and Arena and CPN Tools (discrete event simulation)) are compared based on the capabilities of modelling, support of simulation and output analysis

Virtualization system for life science automation laboratory

    Get PDF
The dissertation developed a Virtualization System to simulate experiment workflows in Life Science Automation (LSA) virtually. The system integrates technologies of process control technology, TCP/IP socket, database, Visual C#, Python Script, Visual Component 3DCreate and 3D modeling, etc. It mainly has four modules: Process Control System, Data Transfer System, Control System and Virtualization Module. The system supplies a vivid and flexible 4D virtualization on LSA experiment workflows for customers, and makes demonstrations for LSA laboratories more conveniently

    Protos 7.0: simulation made accessible

    No full text
Many consider simulation to be a highly specialist activity: it is difficult to undertake and is even more difficult to understand its outcomes. The new version of the business process modeling tool Protos attempts to more closely integrate modeling and simulation facilities into one tool. The assumed benefit is that business professionals may more easily undertake simulation experiments when they are enabled with the same tool to extend their existing process models to carry out simulation experiments. This paper explains how the existing engine of the Petri-net based tool ExSpect is integrated into Protos 7.0. It also shows the extended user interface of Protos and the simulation reports it generates

An evolution engineer needs to understand reasons of a change, its application levels, and subsequently its impact on the whole system. In this thesis, we propose an approach for an a priori change impact analysis, to better control the business process evolution. This may help the business experts and the process designers to evaluate change impact in order to reduce the associated risks and estimate the related costs. It may also help to improve the service and quality of the business processes. This work contributes an eventual improvement, in regard, to verify the coherence and the compliance of the business process models, after each change. It leads to evaluate an a priori change impact analysis in structural and qualitatie aspects. The multiple-perspectives of the proposed approach have been reviewed experimentally. The validation of the approach is evaluated by exteding the Eclipse Development Environment, with the help of a set of plug-ins, as a prototype plate-form.DUNKERQUE-SCD-Bib.electronique (591839901) / SudocSudocFranceF
