H∞ controller design for networked predictive control systems based on the average dwell-time approach

    Get PDF
This brief focuses on the problem of H∞ control for a class of networked control systems with time-varying delay in both forward and backward channels. Based on the average dwell-time method, a novel delay-compensation strategy is proposed by appropriately assigning the subsystem or designing the switching signals. Combined with this strategy, an improved predictive controller design approach in which the controller gain varies with the delay is presented to guarantee that the closed-loop system is exponentially stable with an H∞-norm bound for a class of switching signal in terms of nonlinear matrix inequalities. Furthermore, an iterative algorithm is presented to solve these nonlinear matrix inequalities to obtain a suboptimal minimum disturbance attenuation level. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method

Fault Detection for Quantized Networked Control Systems

    Get PDF
The fault detection problem in the finite frequency domain for networked control systems with signal quantization is considered. With the logarithmic quantizer consideration, a quantized fault detection observer is designed by employing a performance index which is used to increase the fault sensitivity in finite frequency domain. The quantized measurement signals are dealt with by utilizing the sector bound method, in which the quantization error is treated as sector-bounded uncertainty. By using the Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov (GKYP) Lemma, an iterative LMI-based optimization algorithm is developed for designing the quantized fault detection observer. And a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

Complex networks make an enticing research topic that has been increasingly attracting researchers from control systems and various other domains over the last two decades. The aim of this paper was to survey the interest in control related to complex networks research over time since 2000 and to identify recent trends that may generate new research directions. The survey was performed for Web of Science, Scopus, and IEEEXplore publications related to complex networks. Based on our findings, we raised several questions and highlighted ongoing interests in the control of complex networks.publishedVersio

Protocol and Fault Detection Design for Nonlinear Networked Control Systems

    No full text
This brief considers the problem of fault detection (FD) for a class of nonlinear networked control systems (NCSs) in which the sensors and actuators of the plant exchange information with a remote controller via a shared communication medium. Under the model utilized here, the communication cannot transfer all the information that sensors or controllers send. The choice of sensors and actuators that are active is designed to achieve the reachability and observability of the NCS. A novel method is proposed for the FD of a nonlinear NCS by first identifying a pair of communication sequences that preserve reachability and observability and then designing an observer-based FD based on those sequences. An example is given to show the potential of the proposed techniques
