The tadpole of Physalaemus fernandezae (Anura: Leptodactylidae)
This paper describes the external and buccopharyngeal morphology, chondrocranium and cranial muscles in tadpoles of Physalaemus fernandezae. The data are compared with those for other species of Physalaemus to improve the diagnosis of the âspecies groupâ within the genus. Species of the âP. biligonigerusâ group have four infralabial papillae, two semicircular arches of pustulations in a V-shaped pattern on the prenarial arena, 6â8 conical papillae and 40â60 pustulations on the buccal roof arena, four postnarial papillae, a semicircular median ridge, clawshaped lateral ridges and larval crista parotica with a poorly-developed anterior process. Species of the âP. pustulosusâ group possess four infralabial papillae (shared with the P. biligonigerus group), tooth row formula 2(2)/3, four lingual papillae, two postnarial papillae, twelve conical papillae and 16â20 pustulations on the buccal roof arena, short lateral ridges with rough concave margins and larval crista parotica with a well-developed anterior process and reduced posterior process. Species of the âP. cuvieri â group present two infralabial papillae, three pustulations and two serrated papillae on the prenarial arena, five pustulations and two serrated papillae on the postnarial arena, four long and bifid papillae and more than 60 pustulations on the buccal roof arena, and lack larval crista parotica. In species of the âP. signiferusâ group both medial and lateral mental gaps are absent, and the tooth row formula is 2(2)/3(1).Fil: Alcalde, Leandro. A New Genus, Six New Species, and Records of Protura from Michigan
A new genus, Proacerella (Acerentomidae), and six new species, Proacerella reducta, Eosentomon prutzi, E. sociale, E. pomari, E. brassicae, and Protentomon michiganense are described from various sites in Michigan. Records of previously described species are also listed \u27for the species Eosentomon vermiforme Ewing, E. wheeleri Silvestri, Proturentomon iowaense Womersley, Acerentulus confinis (Berlese), Amerentulus americanus (Ewing), and Yamatentomon barberi (Ewing)
Intermediate concepts in the generative dance between knowledge and knowing
Clark-Ocone type formula for non-semimartingales with finite quadratic variation
We provide a suitable framework for the concept of finite quadratic variation
for processes with values in a separable Banach space using the language of
stochastic calculus via regularizations, introduced in the case by the
second author and P. Vallois. To a real continuous process we associate the
Banach valued process , called {\it window} process, which describes
the evolution of taking into account a memory . The natural state
space for is the Banach space of continuous functions on
. If is a real finite quadratic variation process, an
appropriated It\^o formula is presented, from which we derive a generalized
Clark-Ocone formula for non-semimartingales having the same quadratic variation
as Brownian motion. The representation is based on solutions of an infinite
dimensional PDE
Second contribution to the knowledge of the Lithosiini of Gabon: the genus Nanna Birket-Smith (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae)
The presence of the genus Nanna in Gabon is treated. Four species are recorded, two of which are
new to science (N. molouba sp. nov. and N. semigrisea sp. nov.), and the hitherto unknown female of Nannaa ceratopygia is described. A checklist and a key to the species of the genus Nanna are provided
Erosion estimates based on geometrical dimension measurements of eroded maar/diatreme volcanoes are useful methods to determine
syn-volcanic surface level and syn-volcanic bedrock stratigraphy. However, such considerations on volcanic architecture should only
be employed as a first-order approach to determine the state of erosion. We demonstrate, on both young and eroded maar/diatreme volcanoes,
that establishing the volcanic facies architecture gives vital information on the environment in which the volcano erupted. In
âsoftâ rocks, maar volcanoes are broad and underlain by âchampagne glassâ-shaped diatremes. In contrast, the crater wall of maar volcanoes
that erupted through âhard rocksâ will be steep, filled with lacustrine volcaniclastic deposits and underlain by deep diatremes
