On singular values decomposition and patterns for human motion analysis and simulation

We are interested in human motion characterization and automatic motion simulation. The apparent redun- dancy of the humanoid w.r.t its explicit tasks lead to the problem of choosing a plausible movement in the framework of redun- dant kinematics. This work explores the intrinsic relationships between singular value decomposition at kinematic level and optimization principles at task level and joint level. Two task- based schemes devoted to simulation of human motion are then proposed and analyzed. These results are illustrated by motion captures, analyses and task-based simulations. Pattern of singular values serve as a basis for a discussion concerning the similarity of simulated and real motions

Robotic contour tracking with adaptive feedforward control by fuzzy online tuning

Industrial robots have great importance in manufacturing. Typical uses of the robots are welding, painting, deburring, grinding, polishing and shape recovery. Most of these tasks such as grinding, deburring need force control to achieve high performance. These tasks involve contour following. Contour following is a challenging task because in many of applications the geometry physical of the targeted contour are unknown. In addition to that, achieving tasks as polishing, grinding and deburring requires small force and velocity tracking errors. In order to accomplish these tasks, disturbances have to be taken account. In this thesis the aim is to achieve contour tracking with using fuzzy online tuning. The fuzzy method is proposed in this thesis to adjust a feedforward force control parameter. In this technique, the varying feedforward control parameter compensates for disturbance effects. The method employs the chattering of control signal and the normal force and tangential velocity errors to adjust the control term. Simulations with the model of a direct drive planar elbow manipulator are used to last proposed technique

On The Dynamic Properties of Flexible Parallel Manipulators in the Presence of Payload and Type 2 Singularities

International audienceIt is known that a parallel manipulator at a singular configuration can gain one or more degrees of freedom and become uncontrollable. In our recent work [1], the dynamic properties of rigid-link parallel manipulators, in the presence of Type 2 singularities, have been studied. It was shown that any parallel manipulator can pass through the singular positions without perturbation of motion if the wrench applied on the end-effector by the legs and external efforts is orthogonal to the twist along the direction of the uncontrollable motion. This condition was obtained using symbolic approach based on the inverse dynamics and the study of the Lagrangian of a general rigid-link parallel manipulator. It was validated by experimental tests carried out on the prototype of a four-degrees-of-freedom parallel manipulator. However, it is known that the flexibility of the mechanism may not always been neglected. Indeed, for robots, joint flexibility can be the main source contributing to overall manipulator flexibility and can lead to trajectory distortion. Therefore, in our second paper [2], the condition of passing through a Type 2 singularity for parallel manipulators with flexible joints has been studied. In the present paper, we expand information about the dynamic properties of parallel manipulators in the presence of Type 2 singularity by including in the studied problem the link flexibility and the payload. The suggested technique is illustrated by a 5R parallel manipulator with flexible elements (actuated joints and moving links) and a payload. The obtained results are validated by numerical simulations carried out using the software ADAMS
