The developing field of integrated vehicle health management
The goals that are being set for aviation growth in the near future, combined with the growth in service provision, are unattainable without active health management of airplanes. Numbers associated with door to door travel time and accident rates, coupled with availability demands to provide cost-effective transport, simply do not allow time for unscheduled maintenance. We are therefore going to experience a step jump in the take up of Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) on these platforms in order to give accurate warning of sub-system and component degradation, allowing for maintenance to be carried out in a timely, scheduled, manner. This paper describes the development of IVHM, covering emerging services, standards, technology and IVHM as used in various industry sectors. This will lead to the commercial picture of today with the top level goals that are being set, providing the business push for technology and its adoption. Examples of research being conducted in the field will be shown, to support the claim that real progress is being made, with implementation of this technology on the horizon.http://www.aerojournalindia.com/journal.htm
Use of Chrysoperla Carnea and Trichogramma Chiloni (Ishii) on the Population of Insect Pests in Chilli Ecosystem
Field experiment was conducted at Kunri, Hasul Rind Farm during 2011-12 to assess the effect of Chrysoperla carnea Stephens and Trichogramma chiloni (Ishii) on the population of insect pests in chilli ecosystem. The experiment consisted tree treatments viz; (1) pest population were left untreated (2) C. carnea 1500 eggs /card were released (3) T. chilonis 1500 eggs /cards were released. Results concluded that sucking also chewing pest population in chilli was suppressed significantly in plot B and C where natural enemies were released. Reduction in thrips, aphid, mite and whitefly numbers was found due to release of C. carnae, it was 57.31, 70.86, 65.12 and 80% %, respectively. An impact of C. carnae on tobacco caterpillar population was 53.18%. Gram pod borer and tobacco caterpillar population was observed enormously in untreated plots. Reduction in its population in plot C was found owing to release of T. chilonis, it was 74.14 and 89.38 % when compared to untreated plots. It is concluded from the findings that C. carnae should be released in initial days when sucking complex raised at economic threshold level and T. chiloni release is necessary when crop reached flowers and buds stag
An efficient asynchronous spatial division multiplexing router for network-on-chip on the hardware platform
The quasi-delay-insensitive (QDI) based asynchronous network-on-chip (ANoC) has several advantages over clock-based synchronous network-on-chips (NoCs). The asynchronous router uses a virtual channel (VC) as a primary flow-control mechanism however, the spatial division multiplexing (SDM) based mechanism performs better over input traffics over VC. This manuscript uses an asynchronous spatial division multiplexing (ASDM) based router for NoC architecture on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) platform. The ASDM router is configurable to different bandwidths and VCs. The ASDM router mainly contains input-output (I/O) buffers, a switching allocator, and a crossbar unit. The 4-phase 1-of-4 dual-rail protocol is used to construct the I/O buffers. The performance of the ASDM router is analyzed in terms of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTs) (chip area), delay, latency, and throughput parameters. The work is implemented using Verilog-HDL with Xilinx ISE 14.7 on artix-7 FPGA. The ASDM router achieves % chip area and obtains 0.8 ns of latency with a throughput of 800 Mfps. The proposed router is compared with existing asynchronous approaches with improved latency and throughput metrics
Cultures in Community Question Answering
CQA services are collaborative platforms where users ask and answer
questions. We investigate the influence of national culture on people's online
questioning and answering behavior. For this, we analyzed a sample of 200
thousand users in Yahoo Answers from 67 countries. We measure empirically a set
of cultural metrics defined in Geert Hofstede's cultural dimensions and Robert
Levine's Pace of Life and show that behavioral cultural differences exist in
community question answering platforms. We find that national cultures differ
in Yahoo Answers along a number of dimensions such as temporal predictability
of activities, contribution-related behavioral patterns, privacy concerns, and
power inequality.Comment: Published in the proceedings of the 26th ACM Conference on Hypertext

Proactive cloud service assurance framework for fault remediation in cloud environment
Cloud resiliency is an important issue in successful implementation of cloud computing systems. Handling cloud faults proactively, with a suitable remediation technique having minimum cost is an important requirement for a fault management system. The selection of best applicable remediation technique is a decision making problem and considers parameters such as i) Impact of remediation technique ii) Overhead of remediation technique ii) Severity of fault and iv) Priority of the application. This manuscript proposes an analytical model to measure the effectiveness of a remediation technique for various categories of faults, further it demonstrates the implementation of an efficient fault remediation system using a rule-based expert system. The expert system is designed to compute an utility value for each remediation technique in a novel way and select the best remediation technique from its knowledgebase. A prototype is developed for experimentation purpose and the results shows improved availability with less overhead as compared to a reactive fault management system
