Training in the Digital Age: A Practitioner\u27s Reflections on Incorporating Traditional Classroom Strategies into Remote Training
As internet usage increasingly dominates workplace culture, remote training has become more commonplace, particularly for wide-spread organizations looking to reduce training costs. Webinars are frequently being utilized to eliminate travel and materials costs associated with in person training. This Course-Linked Capstone in Training seeks to explore the application of training and leadership theory in remote training sessions. The central research question was: How can a trainer co-create an effective learning environment and incorporate engaged pedagogy and adult learning theory into a remote training setting? This paper analyzes the relationship between trainer and participant through an exploration of philosophies of leadership and the role of trust in workplace relationships. In accordance with the role of Learning and Development Manager at the nonprofit organization Better Tomorrows, remote training participants were surveyed and interviewed in an attempt to understand the impact of trainer decisions on participant experience. Major lessons include the power of relationships in shaping the learning environment and organizational culture, as well as identifying specific actions that develop feelings of trust in long-distance workplace relationships. This Capstone serves as an opportunity to explore and identify best practices for training in a virtual classroom.

Persistent issues in encryption software: A heuristic and cognitive walkthrough
The support information accompanying security software can be difficult to understand by end-users, who have little knowledge in cyber security. One mechanism for ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information is encryption software. Unfortunately, software usability issues can hinder an end-user’s capability to properly utilise the security features effectively. To date there has been little research in investigating the usability of encryption software and proposing solutions for improving them. This research paper analysed the usability of encryption software targeting end-users. The research identified several issues that could impede the ability of a novice end-user to adequately utilise the encryption software. A set of proposed recommendations are suggested to improve encryption software which could be empirically verified through further research
Conversational Agents for Health and Wellbeing
Conversational agents have increasingly been deployed in healthcare applications. However, significant challenges remain in developing this technology. Recent research in this area has highlighted that: i) patient safety was rarely evaluated; ii) health outcomes were poorly measured, and iii) no standardised evaluation methods were employed. The conversational agents in healthcare are lagging behind the developments in other domains. This one-day workshop aims to create a roadmap for healthcare conversational agents to develop standardised design and evaluation frameworks. This will prioritise health outcomes and patient safety while ensuring a high-quality user experience. In doing so, this workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners from HCI, healthcare and related speech and chatbot domains to collaborate on these key challenges
Utilizing Post Graduate Residency Program in New Graduate Nurse Practitioners to Improve Clinical Outcomes
Utilizing Post Graduate Residency Program in New Graduate Nurse Practitioners to Improve Clinical Outcomes.
by LaShaunda R Jethro
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) role across the continuum of patient care continues to evolve, and the APRN continues to play a significant part in sustaining the current healthcare system and controlling the rising incidence of mortality and medical cost. While a substantial amount of evidence demonstrates that Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are expert healthcare providers, some studies also report that many new NPs fail to be confident in their capability to undertake the NP role and attend to increasing patient loads. Some school of thought posits that post-graduate residency programs support new nurse practitioners to transition successfully to new specialties and provides them with chances to learn effective management skills and affirm their confidence as they take on their new roles. The DNP Essential VIII emphasizes the vital role of the APRN as a leader with creative clinical knowledge to solve various clinical problems using evidence-based research to improve health outcomes. Fulfilling the above role is the reason for this clinical inquiry. Therefore, this white paper focuses on establishing whether post-graduate residency programs increase Nurse Practitioners\u27 clinical outcomes.

Golden goose or white elephant? Exploring lifelong learning through the professional group of operating department practitioners
General findings indicated practitioners were engaging in a variety of learning as advocated by their regulatory body, and thus meeting their professional and organisational responsibilities. Further investigation presents a tale of contrasts:from the positive experiences of learning which are driven by a commitment to delivering high standards of patient care, to the negative experiences with regards to participation and provision. Participation was hampered by a range of structural and organisational barriers, some of which were identified as being unique to this group.Providing a 'snap-shot' of learning within the NHS at a time of challenge and financial constraints the research questions the underpinning philosophy of lifelong learning policy in promoting inclusivity and prosperity and exposes deficiencies within organisational policy

UTILIZATION OF TELEMENTAL HEALTH BY MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS DURING COVID-19
It has been established that certain barriers and benefits affect a mental health professional’s attitude towards using telemental health. The purpose of this study was to examine a possible relationship between mental health professional’s discipline, theoretical orientation, and treatment approach with their attitudes towards telemental health utilization. This study collected data from 117 mental health professionals from California. A principal component analysis uncovered four factors with attitudes towards telemental health: confidence with telemental health, concerns about telemental health, peer influence, and professional support & behavioral intent. This study showed significant relationships between discipline, theoretical orientation, and treatment approach with confidence with telemental health and peer influence, but not with attitudes towards telemental health. To better support telemental health, professional and governing institutions can integrate trainings of this modality into social work curriculum to help lower negative peer influence and create more positive attitudes towards telemental health
