The Communicating Home - Definition, Evaluation and Business Opportunities for TeliaSonera in a 3-5 years perspective

    Get PDF
The communicating home concept has been defined by identifying the dominating communication technologies to/from and in the homes, the most important customer behavior and user needs, the dominating products and the dominating actors of the industry. The evaluation of the communicating home industry has been performed with a five forces framework analysis and theories regarding value migration and value structures of industries. It has been concluded that actors of communication technologies, goods and access services will compete fiercely. The barriers of entry will however be high. When it comes to content services the situation is completely different. These actors will, to the largest extent, meet lower competition and low barriers of entry. As a consequence a value migration from communication technologies, goods and access services to content services will occur. TeliaSonera is suggested to develop a content service portal. It should, in its first version, contain IPTV, music on demand, video on demand, data security, online storing and online gaming in the first place. The TeliaSonera group has the right prerequisites to implement and capitalize on a content service portal. In addition to the content service portal some other business opportunities have also been addressed in the business model

ABSTRACT: With the large growth of fixed communications, the technology that provides Internet access, such as cable (CATV) and copper (xDSL), need to enable the provision of additional services beyond the typical broadband Internet access (where, television service already exists for several years over cable technology). Thus, because of strong competition between cable and copper operators , DSL Forum presents an architecture and aggregation solution for the xDSL based access networks that allows the migration of traditional ATM technology to Ethernet. The migration of the architecture to Ethernet based network is due to the high speeds offer, and the possibility of additional services supporting quality of service, multicast transmission, VOIP, amongst others. This thesis presents the requirements proposed by the DSL Forum for the equipment of the access network and aggregation: access node (DSLAM), and their validation in a laboratory environment, simulating service provision scenarios

A FUZZY LOGIC CLASSIFICATION OF INCOMING PACKET FOR VOIP

The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology is cheaper and does not need new infrastructure because it has availables in the global computer (IP) network. Unfortunately, transition from PSTN to VoIP networks have emerged new problems in voice quality. Furthermore, the transmission of voice over IP networks can generate network congestion due to weak supervision of the traffic incoming packet, queuing and scheduling. This congestion affects the Quality of Service (QoS) such as delay, packet drop and packet loss. Packet delay effects will affect the other QoS such as: unstable voice packet delivery, packet jitter, packet loss and echo. Priority Queuing (PQ) algorithm is a popular technique used in the VoIP network to reduce delays. But, the method can result in repetition. This recursive leads to the next queue starved. To solving problems, there are three phases namely queuing, classifying and scheduling. It will be applied to the fuzzy inference system to classify the queuing incoming packet (voice, video and text). To justify the research of the improved PQ algorithm be compared against the algorithm existing

Sedangkan metode VLAN butuh waktu rata-rata 160.488 ms. Kata kunci : triple play, VLAN, Selective Qin

The development of many high bit-rate multimedia applications has emphasized the demand for service differentiation or prioritization techniques to ensure end-user quality-of-service (QoS) necessities. This paper focuses on utilizing different detection schemes in spectral-amplitude coding optical code-division multiple-access (SAC-OCDMA) systems to support 'triple-play' services (voice, video, and data) with diverse QoS requirements. The used subtraction detection techniques are complementary, AND, as well as modified-AND.Modified double-weight (MDW) codes are used as the signature codes for SAC-OCDMA systems. The simulation results show that modified-AND subtraction detection demonstrates better performance over other detection approaches

A Finnish Operation Support Systems (OSS) vendor provides solutions for service activation, network inventory and event mediation. These solutions have mostly been deployed in mobile environments. In this thesis it will be studied how feasible it is to use similar solutions for service fulfilment in Next Generation Networks (NGN). NGN is a broad term that describes some key architectural evolutions in telecommunication core and access networks that will be deployed over the next 5 to 10 years. In these networks service, e.g. Triple Play or Virtual Private Network (VPN), activations require an extensive service fulfilment process that must be supported by first-class OSS. After introducing the NGN technologies, the research compares a reference product portfolio to available service fulfilment frameworks and evaluates the applicability. The study analyses the current state of service fulfilment OSS markets and evaluates various solution strategies. Eventually it will be concluded that the most interesting and adequate solution scenario is residential broadband, including value-added IP services

This chapter discusses the extensibility of fiber to the x (FTTx) households, specifically in the territory of the European Union. The Czech Republic has made a commitment to other member states to provide connectivity of at least 100 Mbit/s for half of the households by 2020. Although Internet access in the Czech Republic is mostly dominated by wireless fidelity (WiFi), this technology is not capable of meeting the demanding current demands at a reasonable price. As a result, passive optical networks are on the rise in access networks and in mobile cell networks by fiber to the antenna (FTTA). Passive optical networks use much more complex networks. In cooperation with Orange Slovakia, the analysis of the transmitted data was conducted. The optical network unit management and control interface (OMCI) channel data, as well as the activation data associated with specific end units, were analyzed. We propose a complete analysis of the end-unit-related activation process, download, and initialization of the data image for setting the end units and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) parameters. Finally, we performed an analysis of the transmission of dying gasp messages
