Study of continuous-phase four-state modulation for cordless telecommunications. Assessment by simulation of CP-QFSK as an alternative modulation scheme for TDMA digital cordless telecommunications systems operating in indoor applications
One of the major driving elements behind the explosive boom in wireless revolution is the advances in the field of modulation which plays a fundamental role in any communication system, and especially in cellular radio systems. Hence, the elaborate choice of an efficient modulation scheme is of paramount importance in the design and employment of any communications system. Work presented in this thesis is an investigation (study) of the feasibility of whether multilevel FSK modulation scheme would provide a viable alternative modem that can be employed in TDMA cordless communications systems. In the thesis the design and performance analysis of a non-coherent multi-level modem that offers a great deal of bandwidth efficiency and hardware simplicity is studied in detail. Simulation results demonstrate that 2RC pre-modulation filter pulse shaping with a modulation index of 0.3, and pre-detection filter normalized equivalent noise bandwidth of 1.5 are optimum system parameter values. Results reported in chapter 5 signify that an adjacent channel rejection factor of around 40 dB has been achieved at channel spacing of 1.5 times the symbol rate while the DECT system standards stipulated a much lower rejection limit criterion (25-30dB), implying that CP-QFSK modulation out-performs the conventional GMSK as it causes significantly less ACI, thus it is more spectrally efficient in a multi-channel system. However, measured system performance in terms of BER indicates that this system does not coexist well with other interferers as at delay spreads between 100ns to 200ns, which are commonly encountered in such indoor environment, a severe degradation in system performance apparently caused by multi-path fading has been noticed, and there exists a noise floor of about 40 dB, i.e. high irreducible error rate of less than 5.10-3. PhD Theses.Cognitive Radio Internet of Things (CR-IoT) has revolutionized almost every eld of life
and reshaped the technological world. Several tiny devices are seamlessly connected in
a CR-IoT network to perform various tasks in many applications. Nevertheless, CR-IoT
su ers from malicious attacks that pulverize communication and perturb network performance.
Therefore, recently it is envisaged to introduce higher-level Arti cial Intelligence
(AI) by incorporating Self-Awareness (SA) capabilities into CR-IoT objects to facilitate
CR-IoT networks to establish secure transmission against vicious attacks autonomously.
In this context, sub-band information from the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing
(OFDM) modulated transmission in the spectrum has been extracted from the
radio device receiver terminal, and a generalized state vector (GS) is formed containing
low dimension in-phase and quadrature components. Accordingly, a probabilistic method
based on learning a switching Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) from OFDM transmission
with no abnormalities has been proposed to statistically model signal behaviors
inside the CR-IoT spectrum. A Bayesian lter, Markov Jump Particle Filter (MJPF),
is implemented to perform state estimation and capture malicious attacks.
Subsequently, GS containing a higher number of subcarriers has been investigated. In
this connection, Variational autoencoders (VAE) is used as a deep learning technique
to extract features from high dimension radio signals into low dimension latent space
z, and DBN is learned based on GS containing latent space data. Afterward, to perform
state estimation and capture abnormalities in a spectrum, Adapted-Markov Jump
Particle Filter (A-MJPF) is deployed. The proposed method can capture anomaly that
appears due to either jammer attacks in transmission or cognitive devices in a network
experiencing di erent transmission sources that have not been observed previously. The

OBSERVER-BASED-CONTROLLER FOR INVERTED PENDULUM MODEL
This paper presents a state space control technique for inverted pendulum system. The system is a common classical control problem that has been widely used to test multiple control algorithms because of its nonlinear and unstable behavior. Full state feedback based on pole placement and optimal control is applied to the inverted pendulum system to achieve desired design specification which are 4 seconds settling time and 5% overshoot. The simulation and optimization of the full state feedback controller based on pole placement and optimal control techniques as well as the performance comparison between these techniques is described comprehensively. The comparison is made to choose the most suitable technique for the system that have the best trade-off between settling time and overshoot. Besides that, the observer design is analyzed to see the effect of pole location and noise present in the system

State-Feedback Controller Based on Pole Placement Technique for Inverted Pendulum System
This paper presents a state space control technique for inverted pendulum system using simulation and real experiment via MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The inverted pendulum is difficult system to control in the field of control engineering. It is also one of the most important classical control system problems because of its nonlinear characteristics and unstable system. It has three main problems that always appear in control application which are nonlinear system, unstable and non-minimumbehavior
phase system. This project will apply state feedback controller based on pole placement technique which is capable in stabilizing the practical based inverted pendulum at vertical position. Desired design specifications which are 4 seconds settling time and 5 % overshoot is needed to apply in full state feedback controller based on pole placement technique. First of all, the mathematical model of an inverted pendulum system is derived to obtain the state space representation of the system. Then, the design phase of the State-Feedback Controller can be conducted after linearization technique is
performed to the nonlinear equation with the aid of mathematical aided software such as Mathcad. After that, the design is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software. The controller design of the inverted pendulum system is verified using simulation and experiment test. Finally the controller design is compared with PID controller for benchmarking purpose
