First step developing a early-warning system against corruption for sports associations

The business model of sports is based on trust, reputation and fairness. In recent years sports associations have often engaged in crime, corruption and non-compliance, which has damaged the reputation of sports. A professional compliance tool to counteract the loss of trust is still missing, an early-warning system for sports organisations could provide a solution. It simulates how they react to non-tolerable instances of corruption, doping or violations of competitive integrity. The aim of this article is to present the first step developing an early-warning system for sports associations. The approach of New Institutional Economics was chosen to be the theoretical framework to understand the characteristics of corrupt deals and from that identify indicators that uncover corruption at an early stage. To support the normative process of indicator finding a literature research and a case study were carried out. The results indicate that corrupt deals involve three phases and that the relationship between the corrupt partners is central. Regarding to the strong bonds in corrupt relationships a lack of term limitations, no rotation in leadership positions, missing systems of whistleblowing or insufficient transparency could be possible indicators for corruption and non-compliance in sports associations

Gleichwohl bemühen sich das Internationale Management und das Corporate Finance um einen Brückenschlag. Diese Arbeit beinhaltet einen ganzheitlichen Ansatz und eine integrative Analyse des langfristigen Internationalisierungsprozesses und der Finanzstrategie. Die empirische Langzeitanalyse untersucht die Internationalisierung und das «Gearing» in einem Zeitraum von über 15 Jahren; die qualitative und explorative Studie identifiziert mittels der Methodik der Bilanzanalyse fünf Verlaufstypen und stellt eine proaktive Steuerung des Kapitalbedarfs durch den wellenförmigen Gearing-Verlauf fest. Vergleichsstudie von Systemansätzen für das Schnellladen von Elektrofahrzeugen

One of the major challenges for a global success of electric vehicles is to meet customer\u27s expectations to a user–friendly charging infrastructure. The technology of fast charging of electric vehicles offers electric vehicle users the opportunity to travel in excess of the car’s range. Therefore, various system approaches and standards for fast charging of electric vehicles have been developed in several countries and by different manufacturers. Within the scope of this study existing approaches of system designs for fast charging of electric vehicles in different regions (China/Europe/USA/Japan) have been analyzed in terms of their technical, economical and legal feasibility. For this purpose the general system for fast charging has been defined and several evaluation criterions have been determined. Based on the system, the regarded system approaches have been compared due to their different features and abilities. To expedite the comprehensive implementation of the fast charging technology, it is recommended that the proponents of the different system approaches will work together to benefit from their respective experience. Consequently, they are able to accelerate the joint use of the large technically and economically useful potential of fast charging

Suitability of new Information and Communication Technologies for the increase of the internationality of research and development - opportunities and limits

Die vorliegende Arbeit betrachtet den Zusammenhang zwischen der Internationalisierung unternehmensinterner Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten sowie neuer Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik. Es lässt sich feststellen, dass der Bereich der Forschung und Entwicklung bisher nicht in dem Maße internationalisiert ist, wie dies etwa bei anderen Funktionsbereichen festzustellen ist. Neue Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik erlaubt hingegen einen weitreichend ungehinderten grenzüberschreitenden Informationsaustausch. Auf Basis des Informationsverarbeitungsansatzes werden Aussagen bezüglich der Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der neuen Informations - und Kommunikationstechnik in bezug auf eine Erhöhung der Internationalität von Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten generiert. Hierzu werden einerseits Barrieren der Internationalisierung, andererseits typische Konfigurationsmuster internationaler F&E-Aktivitäten untersucht.This study deals with the connection between the internationalization of corporate research and development activities on the one hand and new information and communication technologies on the other hand. It can be stated that research and development so far has not been internationalized to the extent witch has been perceived in other functional areas. New information and communication technologies, however, permit an extensively unhindered transnational information exchange. Based on the information processing theory statements are generated regarding the opportunities and limits of the new information and communication technologies in the context of an increase of the internationalization of research and development.
