From Simple to Complex and Ultra-complex Systems:\ud A Paradigm Shift Towards Non-Abelian Systems Dynamics
Atoms, molecules, organisms distinguish layers of reality because of the causal links that govern their behavior, both horizontally (atom-atom, molecule-molecule, organism-organism) and vertically (atom-molecule-organism). This is the first intuition of the theory of levels. Even if the further development of the theory will require imposing a number of qualifications to this initial intuition, the idea of a series of entities organized on different levels of complexity will prove correct. Living systems as well as social systems and the human mind present features remarkably different from those characterizing non-living, simple physical and chemical systems. We propose that super-complexity requires at least four different categorical frameworks, provided by the theories of levels of reality, chronotopoids, (generalized) interactions, and anticipation

MULTI AGENT-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL LANDSCAPE (MABEL) - AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SIMULATION MODEL: SOME EARLY ASSESSMENTS
The Multi Agent-Based Environmental Landscape model (MABEL) introduces a Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) systemic methodology, to simulate land use and transformation changes over time and space. Computational agents represent abstract relations among geographic, environmental, human and socio-economic variables, with respect to land transformation pattern changes. A multi-agent environment is developed providing task-nonspecific problem-solving abilities, flexibility on achieving goals and representing existing relations observed in real-world scenarios, and goal-based efficiency. Intelligent MABEL agents acquire spatial expressions and perform specific tasks demonstrating autonomy, environmental interactions, communication and cooperation, reactivity and proactivity, reasoning and learning capabilities. Their decisions maximize both task-specific marginal utility for their actions and joint, weighted marginal utility for their time-stepping. Agent behavior is achieved by personalizing a dynamic utility-based knowledge base through sequential GIS filtering, probability-distributed weighting, joint probability Bayesian correlational weighting, and goal-based distributional properties, applied to socio-economic and behavioral criteria. First-order logics, heuristics and appropriation of time-step sequences employed, provide a simulation-able environment, capable of re-generating space-time evolution of the agents.Environmental Economics and Policy,

Notre papier porte sur plusieurs résultats d'une enquête effectuée auprès des prestataires logistiques français. L'idée défendue est que l'effort technologique des prestataires de services logistiques contribue à la performance de la relation et plus généralement de la chaîne logistique dans sa globalité. Etre innovant semble constituer un indicateur d'autonomie et de capacité à copiloter les flux. L'effort technologique apparaît ainsi comme une trajectoire stratégique de différenciation pertinente pour les prestataires logistiques.logistic, service providers
Bisimulations on data graphs
Bisimulation provides structural conditions to characterize indistinguishability from an external observer between nodes on labeled graphs. It is a fundamental notion used in many areas, such as verification, graph-structured databases, and constraint satisfaction. However, several current applications use graphs where nodes also contain data (the so called “data graphs”), and where observers can test for equality or inequality of data values (e.g., asking the attribute ‘name’ of a node to be different from that of all its neighbors). The present work constitutes a first investigation of “data aware” bisimulations on data graphs. We study the problem of computing such bisimulations, based on the observational indistinguishability for XPath —a language that extends modal logics like PDL with tests for data equality— with and without transitive closure operators. We show that in general the problem is PSPACE-complete, but identify several restrictions that yield better complexity bounds (CO- NP, PTIME) by controlling suitable parameters of the problem, namely the amount of non-locality allowed, and the class of models considered (graphs, DAGs, trees). Controlling Chimeras
Coupled phase oscillators model a variety of dynamical phenomena in nature
and technological applications. Non-local coupling gives rise to chimera states
which are characterized by a distinct part of phase-synchronized oscillators
while the remaining ones move incoherently. Here, we apply the idea of control
to chimera states: using gradient dynamics to exploit drift of a chimera, it
will attain any desired target position. Through control, chimera states become
functionally relevant; for example, the controlled position of localized
synchrony may encode information and perform computations. Since functional
aspects are crucial in (neuro-)biology and technology, the localized
synchronization of a chimera state becomes accessible to develop novel
applications. Based on gradient dynamics, our control strategy applies to any
suitable observable and can be generalized to arbitrary dimensions. Thus, the
applicability of chimera control goes beyond chimera states in non-locally
coupled systems
