Kumaraswamy-Half-Cauchy Distribution: Characterizations and Related Results
We present various characterizations of a recently introduced distribution (Ghosh 2014), called Kumaraswamy- Half- Cauchy distribution based on: (i) a simple relation between two truncated moments; (ii) truncated moment of certain function of the 1st order statistic; (iii) truncated moment of certain function of the random variable; (iv) hazard function; (v) distribution of the 1st order statistic; (vi) via record values. We also provide some remarks on bivariate Gumbel copula distribution whose marginal distributions are Kumaraswamy- Half-Cauchy distributions
Characterizations of Certain Continuous Univariate Distributions Based on the Conditional Distribution of Generalized Order Statistics
The problem of characterizing probability distributions is an interesting problem which has recently attracted the attention of many researchers. Various characterization results have been established in different directions as reported in the literature. We present here, various characterizations of certain univariate continuous distributions based on the conditional distribution of generalized order statistics
Characterizations of a Class of Distributions by Dual Generalized Order Statistics and Truncated Moments
The problem of characterizing a distribution is an important problem which has recently attracted the attention of many researchers. Thus, various characterizations have been established in many different directions. The present work deals with the characterizations of a general class of distributions. These characterizations are based on: (i) a simple relationship between two truncated moments, (ii) truncated moment of certain functions of the nth order statistic, (iii) single truncated moment of certain functions of the random variable and (iv) moments of dual generalized order statistics. We like to mention that the characterization (i) which is expressed in terms of the ratio of truncated moments is stable in the sense of weak convergence. We also study the recurrence relations between moments of dual generalized order statistics of this class of distributions
On Extended Quadratic Hazard Rate Distribution: Development, Properties, Characterizations and Applications
In this paper, we propose a flexible extended quadratic hazard rate (EQHR) distribution with increasing, decreasing, bathtub and upside-down bathtub hazard rate function. The EQHR density is arc, right-skewed and symmetrical shaped. This distribution is also obtained from compounding mixture distributions. Stochastic orderings, descriptive measures on the basis of quantiles, order statistics and reliability measures are theoretically established. Characterizations of the EQHR distribution are studied via different techniques. Parameters of the EQHR distribution are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. Goodness of fit of this distribution through different methods is studied
Recurrence Relations for Moments of Dual Generalized Order Statistics from Weibull Gamma Distribution and Its Characterizations
In this paper, we establish explicit forms and new recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of dual generalized order statistics from Weibull gamma distribution (WGD). The results include as particular cases the relations for moments of reversed order statistics and lower records. We present characterizations ofWGD based on (i) recurrence relation for single moments, (ii) truncated moments of certain function of the variable and (iii) hazrad function
Characterizations of Distribution of Ratio of Rayleigh Random Variables
Various characterizations of the distribution of the ratio of two independent Rayleigh random variables are presented. These characterizations are based, on a truncated moment; on hazard function; and on certain functions of order statistics
Tests based on characterizations, and their efficiencies: a survey
A survey of goodness-of-fit and symmetry tests based on the characterization
properties of distributions is presented. This approach became popular in
recent years. In most cases the test statistics are functionals of
-empirical processes. The limiting distributions and large deviations of new
statistics under the null hypothesis are described. Their local Bahadur
efficiency for various parametric alternatives is calculated and compared with
each other as well as with diverse previously known tests. We also describe new
directions of possible research in this domain.Comment: Open access in Acta et Commentationes Universitatis Tartuensis de

Some Extended Classes of Distributions: Characterizations and Properties
Based on a simple relationship between two truncated moments and certain functions of the th order statistic, we characterize some extended classes of distributions recently proposed in the statistical literature, videlicet Beta-G, Gamma-G, Kumaraswamy-G and McDonald-G. Several properties of these extended classes and some special cases are discussed. We compare these classes in terms of goodness-of-fit criteria using some baseline distributions by means of two real data sets
Generalized Exponentiated Moment Exponential Distribution
Moment distributions have a vital role in mathematics and statistics, in particular in probability theory, in the perspective research related to ecology, reliability, biomedical field, econometrics, survey sampling and in life-testing. Hasnain (2013) developed an exponentiated moment exponential (EME) distribution and discussed some of its important properties. In the present work, we propose a generalization of EME distribution which we call it generalized EME (GEME) distribution and develop various properties of the distribution. We also present characterizations of the distribution in terms of conditional expectation as well as based on hazard function of the GEME random variable
