Casino Royale and Franchise Remix: James Bond as Superhero

The article discusses the role of the film Casino Royale in remixing the James Bond franchise. The author believes that the remixed Bond franchise has shifted its genre to a superhero franchise. When Sony acquired MGM in 2004, part of its plan was to transform the 007 franchise at par with Spiderman. Diseño de un reloj de pulsera multifuncional para James Bond

[ES] El objetivo principal de este proyecto es diseñar un reloj moderno multifuncional acorde con el estilo del protagonista de la franquicia de películas y novelas de James Bond "007", que permita al usuario sentirse identificado con este súper agente. Teniendo en cuenta las funciones básicas propias de un reloj de pulsera ya diseñadas, este proyecto se centra en añadir al producto varias funciones de iluminación para otros usos relacionados con situaciones de emergencia, como pueden ser: estar perdido, una confrontación o lucha, o la búsqueda de algún objeto en ambientes oscuros. Uno de los aspectos fundamentales de este proyecto es diseñar el objeto respetando la concreta estética del estilo de vida de "clase alta" tan característica de esta saga de películas, puesto que esto implica determinar también el estado social del usuario. En un importante apartado introductorio se analizarán los elementos visuales de los diseños que aparecen en el mundo ficticio de la franquicia de películas de este súper agente desde el año 1962, además del estilo de vida del personaje. Este estudio proporcionará la inspiración necesaria para modificar algunos elementos visuales del reloj de pulsera recurriendo a lenguajes de diseño más contemporáneos, sin que por ello se pierda su elegancia o estilo clásico original. Con estas adaptaciones se pretende dotar de mayor versatilidad al producto, y con ello alcanzar a un sector de mercado más amplio.[EN] The main object of this project is to design a modern multifunctional wristwatch following the style of the protagonist of the film and novel franchise James Bond "007", which allows the users to identify themselves with this super-agent. Considering the basic functions of a designed wrist watched, this project focuses on adding various functions of illumination to the product for usage in situations of emergency such as: getting lost, confrontation or combat, or finding object in dark environments. One of the fundamental aspects of this project is to design the object respecting the concrete aesthetic of the characteristic "high class" life style of this saga of films, since it implies to determine the users' social status. In one important introductory section, a study will be realized about the visual elements of the designs appeared in the fiction world of the series of films about this secret agent dating from the year 1962, besides the character's life style. Such study will provide a necessary inspiration to modify certain visual elements of the wristwatch basing on more contemporary design languages, but without compromising the original elegance or classic style. With this adaptation the product tends to gain more versatility and hence achieve a wider market section.Lu, K. (2020).
