    Hamiltonian and self-adjoint control systems

    Get PDF
This paper outlines results recently obtained in the problem of determining when an input-output map has a Hamiltonian realization. The results are obtained in terms of variations of the system trajectories, as in the solution of the Inverse Problem in Classical Mechanics. The variational and adjoint systems are introduced for any given nonlinear system, and self-adjointness defined. Under appropriate conditions self-adjointness characterizes Hamiltonian systems. A further characterization is given directly in terms of variations in the input and output trajectories, proving an earlier conjecture by the first author

Differential Calculi on Associative Algebras and Integrable Systems

After an introduction to some aspects of bidifferential calculus on associative algebras, we focus on the notion of a "symmetry" of a generalized zero curvature equation and derive Backlund and (forward, backward and binary) Darboux transformations from it. We also recall a matrix version of the binary Darboux transformation and, inspired by the so-called Cauchy matrix approach, present an infinite system of equations solved by it. Finally, we sketch recent work on a deformation of the matrix binary Darboux transformation in bidifferential calculus, leading to a treatment of integrable equations with sources.Comment: 19 pages, to appear in "Algebraic Structures and Applications", S. The work in power processing is reported. Input-output models, and Lie groups in control theory are discussed along with the methods of analysis for time invariant electrical networks

Quasigraded Lie Algebras and Modified Toda Field Equations

    No full text
We construct a family of quasigraded Lie algebras that coincide with the deformations of the loop algebras in "principal" gradation and admit Kostant-Adler-Symes scheme. Using them we obtain new Volterra coupled systems and modified Toda field equations for all series of classical matrix Lie algebras g
