    Data Science: Measuring Uncertainties

    Get PDF
With the increase in data processing and storage capacity, a large amount of data is available. Data without analysis does not have much value. Thus, the demand for data analysis is increasing daily, and the consequence is the appearance of a large number of jobs and published articles. Data science has emerged as a multidisciplinary field to support data-driven activities, integrating and developing ideas, methods, and processes to extract information from data. This includes methods built from different knowledge areas: Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Information Science, and Engineering. This mixture of areas has given rise to what we call Data Science. New solutions to the new problems are reproducing rapidly to generate large volumes of data. Current and future challenges require greater care in creating new solutions that satisfy the rationality for each type of problem. Labels such as Big Data, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistical Learning, and Artificial Intelligence are demanding more sophistication in the foundations and how they are being applied. This point highlights the importance of building the foundations of Data Science. This book is dedicated to solutions and discussions of measuring uncertainties in data analysis problems

Multiple Attributes Decision Fusion for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set

    Get PDF
Decision fusion is an important issue in wireless sensor networks (WSN), and intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is a novel method for dealing with uncertain data. We propose a multi-attribute decision fusion model based on IFS, which includes two aspects: data distribution-based IFS construction algorithm (DDBIFCA) and the category similarity weight-based TOPSIS intuitionistic fuzzy decision algorithm (CSWBT-IFS). The DDBIFCA is an IFS construction algorithm that transforms the original attribute values into intuitionistic fuzzy measures, and the CSWBT-IFS is an intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation algorithm improved by the traditional TOPSIS algorithm, which combines intuitionistic fuzzy values of different attributes and obtains a final decision for the monitoring target. Both algorithms have benefits, such as low energy consumption and low computational complexity, which make them suitable for implementation in energy-constrained WSNs. Simulation results show the efficiency of intuitionistic fuzzification for the DDBIFCA and a high classification accuracy, compared with traditional fuzzy fusion and other intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation algorithms, for the CSWBT-IFS

A SPHERICAL FUZZY BASED DECISION MAKING FRAMEWORK WITH EINSTEIN AGGREGATION FOR COMPARING PREPAREDNESS OF SMEs IN QUALITY 4.0

    Get PDF
Researchers work hard to embrace technological changes and redefine the quality management as Quality 4.0 (Q 4.0). In this context, the purpose of the current work is twofold. First, it aims to compare the preparedness of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for sustaining in Q4. Second, it intends to propose a novel hybrid spherical fuzzy based multi-criteria group decision-making (MAGDM) framework with Einstein aggregation (EA). A real-life case study on six SMEs is carried out with the help of three experts. For aggregating the individual responses (using spherical fuzzy numbers or SFNs), EA is used. Then two very recent models such as Simple Ranking Process (SRP) and Symmetry Point of Criterion (SPC) are extended using SFN to rank the SMEs. Finally, the validation tests and sensitivity analysis are carried out. It is noted that the application of analytical tools, knowledge management and use of technology under the support and mentorship of visionary leadership are the key criteria for building up the capability to embrace Q 4.0. Interestingly, it is noted that medium scale firms are better prepared than small-scale enterprises. This work is apparently a first of its kind that focuses on SMEs for assessing their quality management practices in Industry 4.0 era

An adaptive dwell time scheduling model for phased array radar based on three-way decision

    Get PDF
Real-time resource allocation is crucial for phased array radars to undertake multi-task with limited resources such as in the situation of multi-target tracking, in which targets need to be prioritized so that resources can be allocated accordingly and effectively. In this paper, a three-way decision-based model is proposed for adaptive scheduling of phased radar dwell time. Using the model, the threat posed by a target is measured by an evaluation function, and therefore, a target is assigned to one of the three possible decision regions, i.e., positive region, negative region, and boundary region. A different region has a various priority in terms of resource demand, and as such, a different radar resource allocation decision is applied to each region to satisfy different tracking accuracy of multi-target. In addition, the dwell time scheduling model can be further optimized by implementing a strategy for determining a proper threshold of three-way decision making to optimize the thresholds adaptively in real-time. The advantages and the performance of the proposed model has been verified by experimental simulations with comparison to the traditional two-way decision model and the three-way decision model without threshold optimization. The experiential results have demonstrated that the performance of the proposed model has a certain advantage in detecting high threat targets. 2020 IEEE. Personal use of this material is permitted.
