Online Modified Greedy Algorithm for Storage Control under Uncertainty
This paper studies the general problem of operating energy storage under
uncertainty. Two fundamental sources of uncertainty are considered, namely the
uncertainty in the unexpected fluctuation of the net demand process and the
uncertainty in the locational marginal prices. We propose a very simple
algorithm termed Online Modified Greedy (OMG) algorithm for this problem. A
stylized analysis for the algorithm is performed, which shows that comparing to
the optimal cost of the corresponding stochastic control problem, the
sub-optimality of OMG is bounded and approaches zero in various scenarios. This
suggests that, albeit simple, OMG is guaranteed to have good performance in
some cases; and in other cases, OMG together with the sub-optimality bound can
be used to provide a lower bound for the optimal cost. Such a lower bound can
be valuable in evaluating other heuristic algorithms. For the latter cases, a
semidefinite program is derived to minimize the sub-optimality bound of OMG.
Numerical experiments are conducted to verify our theoretical analysis and to

Relating geometry descriptions to its derivatives on the web
Sharing building information over the Web is becoming more popular, leading to advances in describing building models in a Semantic Web context. However, those descriptions lack unified approaches for linking geometry descriptions to building elements, derived properties and derived other geometry descriptions. To bridge this gap, we analyse the basic characteristics of geometric dependencies and propose the Ontology for Managing Geometry (OMG) based on this analysis. In this paper, we present our results and show how the OMG provides means to link geometric and non-geometric data in meaningful ways. Thus, exchanging building data, including geometry, on the Web becomes more efficient
Assessing full thickness oral mucosal grafting: complications and postoperative outcomes in a broad collective of patients
Background:
Conjunctival defects can be repaired with several mucosal tissues. The simplicity of harvesting oral mucosa and its wide availability makes it the preferred graft tissue for all indications requiring mucosal grafting. Through analysing the postsurgical outcomes and rate of revisions, this study explores the suitability of oral mucosa grafts, depending on the initial diagnosis.
Methods:
We reviewed all the files of patients with a history of oral mucosal graft surgery, performed at our clinic between 2012 and 2018, focusing on complications and revision rates.
Results:
In total, we analysed 173 oral mucosa grafts in 131 patients. The most common initial diagnosis was tumour resection, followed by surgical complications, postenucleation socket syndrome, trauma and ocular surface disorders. Complication and revision rates depended highly on the initial diagnosis. Revision rates were highest if the initial diagnosis included ocular surface disorders or chemical trauma.
Conclusions:
Oral mucosa grafting (OMG) is the most effective treatment for a wide range of ocular conditions involving conjunctival defects. Conjunctival defects that result from trauma or cicatricial surface diseases seem less suitable for OMG and may benefit from alternative graft tissue or treatment options
The octet rule in chemical space: Generating virtual molecules
We present a generator of virtual molecules that selects valid chemistry on
the basis of the octet rule. Also, we introduce a mesomer group key that allows
a fast detection of duplicates in the generated structures.
Compared to existing approaches, our model is simpler and faster, generates
new chemistry and avoids invalid chemistry. Its versatility is illustrated by
the correct generation of molecules containing third-row elements and a
surprisingly adept handling of complex boron chemistry.
Without any empirical parameters, our model is designed to be valid also in
unexplored regions of chemical space. One first unexpected finding is the high
prevalence of dipolar structures among generated molecules.Comment: 24 pages, 10 figure

This report highlights key lessons from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Community Partnerships portfolio evaluation. It assesses the communities' progress over the course of the investment, and describes their work in the areas of building public commitment, using data, building and sustaining partnerships, and aligning policies and practices. The OMG Center served as the national evaluator of this initiative and the report also discusses the steps these communities can take to sustain their programs
