Mixed systems and interplay. Norbert Wiener meets Walter Benjamin

The article explores Wiener and Benjamin's views about the interaction between human beings and machines, highlighting some similarities. Despite their different areas of interest, they both recognize two kinds of technology, according to the sort of interaction each entertains with humans beings: an older one based on mastery and a second one based on interplay. The latter may eventually lead to «systems of a mixed nature, involving both human and mechanical parts», a new collective «which has its organs in the new technology». The emphasis the two authors share on interaction supports a view of automation that does not delegate human concerns to machines, but encourages the use of the new extended field of action to face these concerns in a new playful fashion together with the apparatus. In a society where machines are more and more able to pursue their own aims, human beings must therefore become even more responsible in setting and preserving the specifically human aims

Niveles de ansiedad y rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de la escuela académica profesional de psicología de la facultad de ciencias de la salud de la universidad Norbert Wiener

El objetivo general del trabajo de investigación fue determinar la relación entre ansiedad y rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de la Escuela Académico Profesional de Psicología de la facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Norbert Wiener. El tipo de investigación es de tipo correlacional y de diseño observacional. La población estuvo conformada por 203 alumnos del primer al quinto ciclo de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, la muestra la constituyeron 133 estudiantes de los cinco ciclos mediante un muestreo probabilístico aleatorio estratificado.The general objective of the research was to determine the relationship between anxiety and academic achievement of the students of the Academic Professional School of Psychology of the faculty of Health Sciences of the Norbert Wiener University. Quantum Mechanical Coherence, Resonance, and Mind

Norbert Wiener and J.B.S. Haldane suggested during the early thirties that the profound changes in our conception of matter entailed by quantum theory opens the way for our thoughts, and other experiential or mind-like qualities, to play a role in nature that is causally interactive and effective, rather than purely epiphenomenal, as required by classical mechanics. A brief historical perspective of the Wiener-Hopf technique

It is a little over 75 years since two of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century collaborated on finding the exact solution of a particular equation with semi-infinite convolution type integral operator. The elegance and analytical sophistication of the method, now called the Wiener–Hopf technique, impress all who use it. Its applicability to almost all branches of engineering, mathematical physics and applied mathematics is borne out by the many thousands of papers published on the subject since its conception. The Wiener–Hopf technique remains an extremely important tool for modern scientists, and the areas of application continue to broaden. This special issue of the Journal of Engineering Mathematics is dedicated to the work of Wiener and Hopf, and includes a number of articles which demonstrate the relevance of the technique to a representative range of model problems

Relação entre periodontite e qualidade de vida em saúde bucal em pacientes do centro odontológico UPNW, Lima -2022

OBJETIVOS: Determinar la relación entre periodontitis y calidad de vida en salud oral en pacientes que acuden a la clínica odontológica de la universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima- 2018. MATERIALES Y METODOS: Este tipo de investigación es de tipo observacional, prospectivo, transversal y descriptivo. La muestra de este estudio estuvo conformada por un total de 203 pacientes que acudieron a la clínica odontológica. La recolección de datos se registró mediante una encuesta OHIP-14-PD y acceder al periodontograma de las historias clínicas. RESULTADOS: Los resultados de este estudio encontró y demostró que efectivamente si existe una relación entre la periodontitis con la calidad de vida relacionada a la salud bucal en pacientes que acuden a la clínica odontológica de la universidad Norbert Wiener. CONCLUSIONES: se ha demostrado que el margen de error fue mínimo de cuerdo al p-valor obtenido (p= 0.00 < p=0.005) es decir que esta investigación demuestra que si existe una relación entre periodontitis y calidad de vida en salud bucal en los pacientes que acuden al centro odontológico de la universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima- 202

El Curso de Filosofía en el Desarrollo del Pensamiento Crítico en Estudiantes de Ciencias Empresariales. Lima-2015

La presente investigación titulada, “El Curso de Filosofía en el Desarrollo del Pensamiento Crítico en Estudiantes de Ciencias Empresariales. Lima-2015” tuvo como objetivo establecer el efecto del curso de filosofía en el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico, con la participación de los estudiantes de la Universidad Norbert Wiener Lima -2015-I. Esto como respuesta al problema:¿Cuál es el efecto del curso de filosofía en el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico de los estudiantes de la especialidad de ciencias empresariales de la universidad Norbert Wiener Lima - 2015?. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un diseño explicativa pre-experimental, con enfoque cuantitativo, en el cual la muestra estuvo conformada por 35 alumnos de ciencias empresariales Lima, 2015. Para mejorar la información requerida, previamente se validaron los instrumentos y se demostró la validez y confiabilidad, mediante los criterios de opinión de expertos y alfa de Cronbach, la técnica que se utilizó fue la encuesta y el instrumento, 1 cuestionario graduado en la escala de Likert para la variable pensamiento crítico. Con referencia al objetivo general: Determinar qué efectos tiene el curso de filosofía en el desarrollo pensamiento crítico de los estudiantes de la especialidad de ciencias empresariales de la Universidad Norbert Wiener Lima - 2015. Se concluye que: existe efecto significativo del curso la filosofía en el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico de los estudiantes de Ciencias Empresariales de la Universidad Norbert Wiener Lima – 2015, siendo el nivel de significancia de p= .000 y Z = -4,782 donde p<α (,000 < ,05) y zc < z(1 -α/2) (-4,782 < -1 ,96)
