Study of the performance of a large scale water-Cherenkov detector (MEMPHYS)
MEMPHYS (MEgaton Mass PHYSics) is a proposed large-scale water Cherenkov
experiment to be performed deep underground. It is dedicated to nucleon decay
searches, neutrinos from supernovae, solar and atmospheric neutrinos, as well
as neutrinos from a future Super-Beam or Beta-Beam to measure the CP violating
phase in the leptonic sector and the mass hierarchy. A full simulation of the
detector has been performed to evaluate its performance for beam physics. The
results are given in terms of "Migration Matrices" of reconstructed versus true
neutrino energy, taking into account all the experimental effects.Comment: Updated after JCAP's referee's comment
Status and prospects of `bi-large' leptonic mixing
Bi-large patterns for the leptonic mixing matrix are confronted with current
neutrino oscillation data. We analyse the status of these patterns and
determine, through realistic simulations, the potential of upcoming
long-baseline experiment DUNE in testing bi-large \emph{ansatze} and
discriminating amongst them.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, numerical results refined, some more discussion

New features in the simulation of neutrino oscillation experiments with GLoBES 3.0
We present Version 3.0 of the GLoBES (``General Long Baseline Experiment
Simulator'') software, which is a simulation tool for short- and long-baseline
neutrino oscillation experiments. As a new feature, GLoBES 3.0 allows for
user-defined systematical errors, which can also be used to simulate
experiments with multiple discrete sources and detectors. In addition, the
combination with external information, such as from different experiment
classes, is simplified. As far as the probability calculation is concerned,
GLoBES now provides an interface for the inclusion of non-standard physics
without re-compilation of the software. The set of experiment prototypes coming
with GLoBES has been updated. For example, built-in fluxes are now provided for
the simulation of beta beams.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. Definition of chi2 refined, version to
appear in Comput. Phys. Commun. GLoBES software available at

Determination of the octant in LBNO
According to the recent results of the neutrino oscillation experiment MINOS,
the neutrino mixing angle may not be maximal (). Two
nearly degenerate solutions are possible, one in the lower octant (LO) where
, and one in the higher octant (HO) where
. Long baseline experiments measuring the
are capable of resolving this degeneracy. In this
work we study the potential of the planned European LBNO experiment to
distinguish between the LO and HO solutions.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures in two set
