    Get PDF
Understanding and meeting the needs of a broad range of music users across different cultures and languages are central in designing a global music digital library. This exploratory study examines cross-cultural/multilingual music information seeking behaviors and reveals some important characteristics of these behaviors by analyzing 107 authentic music information queries from a Korean knowledge search portal Naver (knowledge) iN and 150 queries from Google Answers website. We conclude that new sets of access points must be developed to accommodate music queries that cross cultural or language boundaries

Accented Body and Beyond: a Model for Practice-Led Research with Multiple Theory/Practice Outcomes

Dance has always been a collaborative or interdisciplinary practice normally associated with music or sound and visual arts/design. Recent developments with technology have introduced additional layers of interdisciplinary work to include live and virtual forms in the expansion of what Fraleigh (1999:11) terms ‘the dancer oriented in time/space, somatically alive to the experience of moving’. This already multi-sensory experience and knowledge of the dancer is now layered with other kinds of space/time and kinetic awarenesses, both present and distant, through telematic presence, generative systems and/or sensors. In this world of altered perceptions and ways of being, the field of dance research is further opened up to alternative processes of inquiry, both theoretically and in practice, and importantly in the spaces between the two

Cross cultural Web design: an experience of developing UK and Korean cultural markers

The international and multicultural nature of the World Wide Web positions the issues of recognizing and observing cultural differences at the forefront of considerations in the design of Web pages. We address some of these issues. Research has already identified some Web page design elements that may be culturally or genre specific, that may also be generalised as 'cultural markers', and that consequently influence Web page design and usability. These cultural markers represent a significant aspect of today's electronic environments in terms of influencing people's behaviour, changing their practices and attitudes, and affecting their learning and performance abilities. We identify general issues of cross-cultural Web page design by defining a check-list of design elements relevant for developing a Web site and investigate culturally specific design elements, on examples of South Korean and UK Web environments

According to Kotler, Kartajaya, and Setiawan, there are five components of marketing 5.0: it is data-driven, predictive, contextual, augmented, and agile. This paper uses the case study method to investigate the presence of the 5.0 marketing components in promotional strategies employed by the South Korean popular music industry. The paper explores promotional strategies used by the BTS music group in particular. The group uses the 5.0 marketing method in its promotional strategies, especially in communication with the fans, and such communication thus enters the field of public relations. The case study analysis also indicates the use of data-driven marketing and predictive analytics, which are achieved using artificial intelligence. Additionally, elements of contextual marketing were used to improve the consumer experience, and augmented marketing was utilized to facilitate business, especially for front office staff. Finally, the analysis of BTS\u27s promotional strategies shows a focus on innovation and flexibility, which are elements of agile marketing

Akram Khan uses his body as a voice, one that strives to speak clearly in a chaotic world. Recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Artist Award by the International Society for the Performing Arts, Khan blends eastern and western traditions (including those of his ancestral home, Bangladesh) into a vibrant expression of our shared humanity that obliterates the borders of both genre and geography.Vertical Road (The Age Critics’ Award for Best New Work, 2010) aims to change the direction of our stream of consciousness. This transcendent production is a meditation on humanity’s constant struggle between gravity and grace, drawing inspiration from the Sufi tradition and the words of beloved Persian poet and philosopher Rumi. Gnosis (South Bank Sky Arts Dance Award, 2011) presents Akram Khan in classical solo performances and a duet that pursue the idea of “the knowledge within.” Featuring live music and inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharata, it is an exploration of the inner and outer battles between the human and the divinehttps://digitalcommons.montclair.edu/peak-performances-2011-2012/1012/thumbnail.jp

Modeling of Performance Creative Evaluation Driven by Multimodal Affective Data

    Get PDF
Performance creative evaluation can be achieved through affective data, and the use of affective featuresto evaluate performance creative is a new research trend. This paper proposes a “Performance Creative—Multimodal Affective (PC-MulAff)” model based on the multimodal affective features for performance creative evaluation. The multimedia data acquisition equipment is used to collect the physiological data of the audience, including the multimodal affective data such as the facial expression, heart rate and eye movement. Calculate affective features of multimodal data combined with director annotation, and defined “Performance Creative—Affective Acceptance (PC-Acc)” based on multimodal affective features to evaluate the quality of performance creative. This paper verifies the PC-MulAff model on different performance data sets. The experimental results show that the PC-MulAff model shows high evaluation quality in different performance forms. In the creative evaluation of dance performance, the accuracy of the model is 7.44% and 13.95% higher than that of the single textual and single video evaluation
