An Intelligent Methodology for Modeling Semantic Knowledge in Industrial Networks

    Get PDF
Networks has been involved in Industrial and IoT Applications for decades, creating new opportunities for more personalized services, improved security, greater automation and operational efficiency. Industry and businesses who prioritize and modernize their analytics strategy and technology to monetize their data will lead and succeed in our data-driven world. The network now provides even more detailed information through units and equipment databases, which provide details about the installed equipment, including models, designed capacity, performance and start / stop dates of the switches, routers, etc. repositories, digital files and business websites. Access to these collections is a serious challenge. Artificial intelligence and the Semantic Web provide a common framework for sharing and reusing knowledge in an efficient way. This article explores the architecture of intelligent agents to make the argument of an intelligent solution as opposed to traditional methods. We propose a new paradigm in which the intelligent management of the network is integrated into the conceptual repository of management information. This study focuses on an intelligent framework and language to formalize knowledge management descriptions and combine them with the existing SNMP management model. Based on the present proposal and the Internet management model, we describe the design and implementation of an integrated intelligent management platform called OntoNetwork

Smart Grid Technologies in Europe: An Overview

    Get PDF
The old electricity network infrastructure has proven to be inadequate, with respect to modern challenges such as alternative energy sources, electricity demand and energy saving policies. Moreover, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) seem to have reached an adequate level of reliability and flexibility in order to support a new concept of electricity network—the smart grid. In this work, we will analyse the state-of-the-art of smart grids, in their technical, management, security, and optimization aspects. We will also provide a brief overview of the regulatory aspects involved in the development of a smart grid, mainly from the viewpoint of the European Unio

Towards a Framework for Developing Mobile Agents for Managing Distributed Information Resources

    No full text
Distributed information management tools allow users to author, disseminate, discover and manage information within large-scale networked environments, such as the Internet. Agent technology provides the flexibility and scalability necessary to develop such distributed information management applications. We present a layered organisation that is shared by the specific applications that we build. Within this organisation we describe an architecture where mobile agents can move across distributed environments, integrate with local resources and other mobile agents, and communicate their results back to the user

An Analysis of Using Expert Systems and Intelligent Agents for the Virtual Library Project at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock Division

    Get PDF
The Virtual Library Project1 at the Naval Surface Warfare Center/Carderock Division (NSWC/CD) is being developed to facilitate the incorporation and use of library documents via the Internet. These documents typically relate to the design and manufacture of ships for the U.S. Navy Fleet. As such, the libraries will store documents that contain not only text but also images, graphs and design configurations. Because of the dynamic nature of digital documents, particularly those related to design, rapid and effective cataloging of these documents becomes challenging. We conducted a research study to analyze the use of expert systems and intelligent agents to support the function of cataloging digital documents. This chapter provides an overview of past research in the use of expert systems and intelligent agents for cataloging digital documents and discusses our recommendations based on NSWC/CD’s requirements

This article lists methods and tools for unlocking data from the local network. Modern methods and software tools for protecting data from unauthorized access from local area network have been analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of the DLP (Data Loss / Leakage Prevention) system are demonstrated to protect data from unauthorized access. The criteria for increasing the effectiveness of the DLP system and the multi-intellect DLP system were suggested.

Customer-engineer relationship management for converged ICT service companies

Thanks to the advent of converged communications services (often referred to as ‘triple play’), the next generation Service Engineer will need radically different skills, processes and tools from today’s counterpart. Why? in order to meet the challenges of installing and maintaining services based on multi-vendor software and hardware components in an IP-based network environment. The converged services environment is likely to be ‘smart’ and support flexible and dynamic interoperability between appliances and computing devices. These radical changes in the working environment will inevitably force managers to rethink the role of Service Engineers in relation to customer relationship management. This paper aims to identify requirements for an information system to support converged communications service engineers with regard to customer-engineer relationship management. Furthermore, an architecture for such a system is proposed and how it meets these requirements is discussed
