    New intelligent network approach for monitoring physiological parameters : the case of Benin

    Benin health system is facing many challenges as: (i) affordable high-quality health care to a growing population providing need, (ii) patients’ hospitalization time reduction, (iii) and presence time of the nursing staff optimization. Such challenges can be solved by remote monitoring of patients. To achieve this, five steps were followed. 1) Identification of the Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) systems’ characteristics and the patient physiological parameters’ monitoring. 2) The national Integrated Patient Monitoring Network (RIMP) architecture modeling in a cloud of Technocenters. 3) Cross-analysis between the characteristics and the functional requirements identified. 4) Each Technocenter’s functionality simulation through: a) the design approach choice inspired by the life cycle of V systems; b) functional modeling through SysML Language; c) the communication technology and different architectures of sensor networks choice studying. 5) An estimate of the material resources of the national RIMP according to physiological parameters. A National Integrated Network for Patient Monitoring (RNIMP) remotely, ambulatory or not, was designed for Beninese health system. The implementation of the RNIMP will contribute to improve patients’ care in Benin. The proposed network is supported by a repository that can be used for its implementation, monitoring and evaluation.     Design and Evaluation of a Network-Monitoring System

    Effective design of network monitoring dashboard plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing the network operations infrastructure. An efficiently designed dashboard can communicate key information to network administrators, which would help them to solve network issues as quickly as possible. We argue that dashboard design impacts network monitoring performance. We design and evaluate two visualization designs: (i) Author Driven (AD) and (ii) Reader Driven (RD) in the context of network monitoring dashboards. Further, we also propose to evaluate the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) when it is added to the two designs (RD and AD) on network monitoring performance, namely, perceived effort and perceived learning performance. The initial results from the study show that, reader-driven dashboard design performed relatively better than author-driven design in terms of lower perceived effort and higher perceived performance

    Performance testing of a low power consumption wireless sensor communication system integrated with an energy harvesting power source

    This paper presents the performance testing results of a wireless sensor communication system with low power consumption integrated with a vibration energy harvesting power source. The experiments focus on the system’s capability to perform continuous monitoring and to wirelessly transmit the data acquired from the sensors to a user base station, completely battery-free. Energy harvesting technologies together with system design optimisation for power consumption minimisation ensure the system’s energy autonomous capability demonstrated in this paper by presenting the promising testing results achieved following its integration with Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and Body Area Network (BAN) applications

    A highly stable monitoring system based on blue and red light emitting diodes coupled to a distribution network comprised of optical fibers has been developed for an electromagnetic calorimeter that uses lead tungstate crystals readout with photomultiplier tubes. We report of the system prototype design and on the results of laboratory tests.     Design of Computer Network Monitoring System Based on Andorid, SNMP and Dude

    As the size and number of network devices increases, the problems on the network will become more complex, this of course requires continuous monitoring of all network devices to ensure service availability. There are many difficulties faced by network administrators if they have to monitor the entire network with regard to performance, analysis and control of some components manually, especially if the network is growing. In this study, the focus of the problem developed is to determine the design of a network monitoring system based on Android, SNMP and the dude system, and the results of this study explain that the Network Management System (NMS) is an implementation of the FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security) where the standard used is the Simple Network Management Protocol. The error categories that are informed on this system are errors when there is a connectivity failure on the network, CPU load increases, RAM usage starts to get high, and hard disk usage starts to get full. From the research results obtained, the Network Management System (NMS) application that was built can provide error information and solutions to network admins if an error occurs on the network. The design and implementation of an NMS application is an effective solution in finding and finding errors in a network, so that repairs or early handling can be carried out so that these problems do not result in a decrease in performance on computer devices

    Data acquisition system for the MuLan muon lifetime experiment

    We describe the data acquisition system for the MuLan muon lifetime experiment at Paul Scherrer Institute. The system was designed to record muon decays at rates up to 1 MHz and acquire data at rates up to 60 MB/sec. The system employed a parallel network of dual-processor machines and repeating acquisition cycles of deadtime-free time segments in order to reach the design goals.
