IPv6 mobility support for real-time multimedia communications: A survey

    Get PDF
Mobile Internet protocol version 6(MIPv6) route optimization improves triangular routing problem that exists in MIPv4 environment.Route optimization of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over MIPv6 provides efcient real-time multimedia applications to users. This article provides a survey of SIP over MIPv6. We review the processes involved during the setting up of a SIP call and during mid-call SIP mobility. When SIP transmits real-time multimedia applications in a wireless environment, the mobile node (MN) may move from one access router (AR) to another AR, handing over control from one AR to the other. High handover latency degrades the quality of real-time multimedia applications due to the fact that real-time multimedia applications are delay-sensitive.Handover latency is an important issue to discuss.Reduction of handover latency can be made possible with the use of SIP's hierarchical registration. On the other hand, hybrid hierarchical and fast handover SIP's registration performs better compared to hierarchical registration. Finally, we present the directions for future research

A Utility-based QoS Model for Emerging Multimedia Applications

    Get PDF
Existing network QoS models do not sufficiently reflect the challenges faced by high-throughput, always-on, inelastic multimedia applications. In this paper, a utility-based QoS model is proposed as a user layer extension to existing communication QoS models to better assess the requirements of multimedia applications and manage the QoS provisioning of multimedia flows. Network impairment utility functions are derived from user experiments and combined to application utility functions to evaluate the application quality. Simulation is used to demonstrate the validity of the proposed QoS model

Exploiting a new level of DLP in multimedia applications

This paper proposes and evaluates MOM: a novel ISA paradigm targeted at multimedia applications. By fusing conventional vector ISA approaches together with more recent SIMD-like (Single Instruction Multiple Data) ISAs (such as MMX), we have developed a new matrix oriented ISA which efficiently deals with the small matrix structures typically found in multimedia applications. MOM exploits a level of DLP not reachable by neither conventional vector ISAs nor SIMD-like media ISA extensions. Our results show that MOM provides a factor of 1.3x to 4x performance improvement when compared with two different multimedia extensions (MMX and MDMX) on several kernels, which translates into up to a 50% of performance gain when measuring full applications (20% in average). Furthermore, the streaming nature of MOM provides additional advantages for executing multimedia applications, such as a very low fetch pressure or a high tolerance to memory latency, making MOM an ideal candidate for the embedded domain.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Nowadays with the advancement of science and technology and advances in the computer world in particular, many people utilization of computer technology in all areas of life, as in the field of medical science, education and others. Computer is not just another luxury item for the middle class and above, but has become an important need in life. An ordinary computer users sometimes can only use the computer in general, they did not know more about the components in a computer. Usually to get to know more about their components in a computer search of existing books. Sometimes in a book less attractive appearance to his readers so that readers are less interested in reading. Therefore, in order to increase the interest our readers, we need a renewal, ie make a program familiar with the interactive multimedia application components of a computer, so that readers are more interested to know the ins and outs of a computer

Implementation of QoS onto virtual bus network

    Get PDF
Quality of Service (QoS) is a key issue in a multimedia environment because multimedia applications are sensitive to delay. The virtual bus architecture is a hierarchical access network structure that has been proposed to simplify network signaling. The network employs an interconnection of hierarchical database to support advanced routing of the signaling and traffic load. Therefore, the requirements and management of quality of service is important in the virtual bus network particularly to support multimedia applications. QoS and traffic parameters are specified for each class type and the OMNeT model has been described

Animation we often encounter was limited to the entertainment world, but also animation can also be used in other areas. For example in the world of business and commerce. With animation, the delivery to another party will not be boring. Animation applications is expected to help marketing the store to be able to explain the survey results, which can berdasasarkan from the field. In the writing of this research will be discussed how to make an animated multimedia marketing survey Harmony store at PT Graha Indah simple and attractive. This animation created using Macromedia Flash application program 8. Where used Macromedia Flash to create animations in the world of entertainment (entertain)

User quality of experience of mulsemedia applications

User Quality of Experience (QoE) is of fundamental importance in multimedia applications and has been extensively studied for decades. However, user QoE in the context of the emerging multiple-sensorial media (mulsemedia) services, which involve different media components than the traditional multimedia applications, have not been comprehensively studied. This article presents the results of subjective tests which have investigated user perception of mulsemedia content. In particular, the impact of intensity of certain mulsemedia components including haptic and airflow on user-perceived experience are studied. Results demonstrate that by making use of mulsemedia the overall user enjoyment levels increased by up to 77%
