A Design for Proprioceptive Force in 3D Agility Robot Through Use of AI
For robots to be considered effective, they should be able to maneuver through 3D environments. To achieve such mobility, robots needs to be designed in such a way that would span various topographies. So, artificial intelligence algorithms have been developed to ensure agility of the robots when walking on murky topographies. In the current state of the art legged robots, there is still much progress need to be made in research to turn them into automobiles with great agility to be used in the real world utility and provide mobility in rough. GOAT leg as a means of artificial intelligence is still a new phenomenon. There still exists a number of preliminary tests that need to be done in accessing and in the characterization of the leg’s current performance and its implications in the future. This study seeks to develop and agility model which would be useful in ensuring that the robots remain agile in such complex environments. To do this, a simulation has been through Matlab analysis. Results of the current study showed that, 3-RSR was designed to ensure that a high fidelity proprioceptive force control would enable legs with the mechanically spring stiffness. An Overview of Legged Robots
The objective of this paper is to present the evolution and the state-of-theart in the area of legged locomotion systems. In a first phase different possibilities for mobile robots are discussed, namely the case of artificial legged locomotion systems, while emphasizing their advantages and limitations. In a second phase an historical overview of the evolution of these systems is presented, bearing in mind several particular cases often considered as milestones on the technological and scientific progress. After this historical timeline, some of the present day systems are examined and their performance is analyzed. In a third phase are pointed out the major areas for research and development that are presently being followed in the construction of legged robots. Finally, some of the problems still unsolved, that remain defying robotics research, are also addressed.N/
Experimental Investigations into the Role of Passive Variable Compliant Legs for Dynamic Robot Locomotion
Biomechanical studies suggest that animals’ abilities to tune their effective leg compliance in response to changing terrain conditions plays an important role in their agile, robust locomotion. However, despite growing interest in leg compliance within the robotics literature, little experimental work has been reported on tunable passive leg compliance in running machines. In this paper we present an empirical study into the role of leg compliance using a composite tunable leg design implemented on our dynamic hexapod, EduBot, with gaits optimized for running speed using a range of leg stiffnesses, on two different surface stiffnesses, and with two different payload configurations (0 kg and 0.91 kg). We found that leg stiffness, surface compliance, and payload had a significant impact on the robot’s final optimized speed and efficiency. These results document the value and efficacy of what we believe is the first autonomous dynamic legged robot capable of runtime leg stiffness adjustment.

Passive Variable Compliance for Dynamic Legged Robots
Recent developments in legged robotics have found that constant stiffness passive compliant legs are an effective mechanism for enabling dynamic locomotion. In spite of its success, one of the limitations of this approach is reduced adaptability. The final leg mechanism usually performs optimally for a small range of conditions such as the desired speed, payload, and terrain. For many situations in which a small locomotion system experiences a change in any of these conditions, it is desirable to have a tunable stiffness leg for effective gait control.
To date, the mechanical complexities of designing usefully robust tunable passive compliance into legs has precluded their implementation on practical running robots. In this thesis we present an overview of tunable stiffness legs, and introduce a simple leg model that captures the spatial compliance of our tunable leg. We present experimental evidence supporting the advantages of tunable stiffness legs, and implement what we believe is the first autonomous dynamic legged robot capable of automatic leg stiffness adjustment. Finally we discuss design objectives, material considerations, and manufacturing methods that lead to robust passive compliant legs

Energy-Efficient Monopod Running with a Large Payload Based on Open-Loop Parallel Elastic Actuation
Despite the intensive investigations in the past, energetic efficiency is still one of the most important unsolved challenges in legged robot locomotion. This paper presents an unconventional approach to the problem of energetically efficient legged locomotion by applying actuation for spring mass running. This approach makes use of mechanical springs incorporated in parallel with relatively low-torque actuation, which is capable of both accommodating large payload and locomotion with low power input by exploiting self-excited vibration. For a systematic analysis, this paper employs both simulation models and physical platforms. The experiments show that the proposed approach is scalable across different payload between 0 and 150kg, and able to achieve a total cost of transport (TCOT) of 0.10, which is significantly lower than the previous locomotion robots and most of the biological systems in the similar scale, when actuated with the near-to natural frequency with the maximum payload.This study was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation Grant No. PP00P2123387/1 and the Swiss National Science Foundation through the National Centre of Competence in Research Robotics
