Background : Psilocybin mushrooms are one of the hallucinatory effect that Psilocybe cubensis. Compounds contained in it may provide psychological effects, effects on the nervous edge mapun behavior. Psychological and behavioral effects can be seen from the level of curiosity. Curiosity is an emotion related to the curious behavior such as exploration, investigation, and learning. Objectives : To determine and analyze the effect of Psilocybe cubensis mushroom extract at a dose rate of curiosity on the rise in male miceMethod : experimental study, simple random sampling methodInterventions : The samples used were male Swiss Webster mice amounted to 20 fish with specific inclusion criteria were divided into 4, the control group (P0), the low-dose group (P1) is given Psilocybe cubensis extract at a dose of 0.75 g / kg, medium-dose group (P2) at a dose of 1.5 g / kg, and high-dose groups (P3) at a dose of 3 g / kg. Each extract in mice dropped as much as 1 times before the study began. After that, test Manual Hole Board for 5 minutes to determine the level of curiosity. Differences in the level of curiosity in the treatment group compared with the control group were analyzed by t test indepent. Results : The average score Manual Hole Board in the control group is equal to 29.80; later in the low-dose group decreased an average score being 24.60; moderate dose group experienced a decline in score of 18.20, while in the high-dose group also score decreased to 7.20. The higher the dose given to the mice will lower the score Manual Hole Board significantly (P <0.05), further down the level of curiosity in mice. Conclusion : Giving Psilocybe cubensis with multilevel dose may decrease the level of curiosity in male Swiss Webster mic

Temporal patterns of rat behaviour in the central platform of the elevated plus maze. Comparative analysis between male subjects of strains with different basal levels of emotionality

We have analyzed the temporal patterns of behaviour of male rats of the Wistar and DA/Han strains on the central platform of the elevated plus maze. The ethogram encompassed 10 behavioural elements. Durations, frequencies and latencies showed quantitative differences as to walking and sniffing activities. Wistar rats displayed significantly lower latency and significantly higher durations and frequencies of walking activities. DA/Han rats showed a significant increase of sniffing duration. In addition, DA/Han rats showed a significantly higher amount of time spent in the central platform. Multivariate T-pattern analysis revealed differences in the temporal organization of behaviour of the two rat strains. DA/Han rats showed (a) higher behavioural complexity and variability and (b) a significantly higher mean number of T-patterns than Wistar rats. Taken together, T-pattern analysis of behaviour in the centre of the elevated plus maze can noticeably improve the detection of subtle features of anxiety related behaviour. We suggest that T-pattern analysis could be used as sensitive tool to test the action of anxiolytic and anxiogenic manipulations.peer-reviewe

Microstructural Assessment of Rodent Behavior in the Hole-Board Experimental Assay

The aim of the present methodological article was to assess whether a microstructure of hole-exploratory activity can be demonstrated in rats tested in the hole-board, an experimental assay widely used to study anxiety-related behaviors in rodents. Six never properly described holeexploratory behavioral components were identified: activedip, static-dip, rapid-dip, circular-sniff, point-sniff and central-sniff. Results, assessed by means of descriptive and multivariate approaches, reveal a complex microstructural organization of these behavioral elements. The hypothesis of an important role of the relationships between point-sniff and head dipping activities, in anxiety-related holeexploratory behavior, is proposed. It is suggested that the microstructural analysis can evidence even subtle behavioral changes induced by manipulations of animal anxiety condition
