Optimized Data Aggregation Method for Time, Privacy and Effort Reduction in Wireless Sensor Network
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have gained wide application in recent years, such as in intelligent transportation system, medical care, disaster rescue, structure health monitoring and so on. In these applications, since WSNs are multi-hop networks, and the sink nodes of WSNs require to gather every sensor node’s data, data aggregation is emerging as a critical function for WSNs. Reducing the latency of data aggregation attracts much research because many applications are event urgent. Data aggregation is ubiquitous in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Much work investigates how to reduce the data aggregation latency. This paper considers the data aggregation method based on optimization of required time, maintain privacy while keeping lesser efforts by data aggregation in a wireless sensor network (WSN) and propose a method for the solution of the problem
A new QoS routing algorithm based on self-organizing maps for wireless sensor networks
For the past ten years, many authors have focused
their investigations in wireless sensor networks. Different
researching issues have been extensively developed: power
consumption, MAC protocols, self-organizing network algorithms,
data-aggregation schemes, routing protocols, QoS
management, etc. Due to the constraints on data processing
and power consumption, the use of artificial intelligence
has been historically discarded. However, in some special
scenarios the features of neural networks are appropriate to
develop complex tasks such as path discovery. In this paper,
we explore and compare the performance of two very well
known routing paradigms, directed diffusion and Energy-
Aware Routing, with our routing algorithm, named SIR,
which has the novelty of being based on the introduction of
neural networks in every sensor node. Extensive simulations
over our wireless sensor network simulator, OLIMPO, have
been carried out to study the efficiency of the introduction
of neural networks. A comparison of the results obtained
with every routing protocol is analyzed. This paper attempts
to encourage the use of artificial intelligence techniques in

Secure data aggregation in wireless sensor networks: A survey
Data aggregation is a widely used technique in wireless sensor networks. The security issues, data confidentiality and integrity, in data aggregation become vital when the sensor network is deployed in a hostile environment. There has been many related work proposed to address these security issues. In this paper we survey these work and classify them into two cases: hop-by-hop encrypted data aggregation and end-to-end encrypted data aggregation. We also propose two general frameworks for the two cases respectively. The framework for end-to-end encrypted data aggregation has higher computation cost on the sensor nodes, but achieves stronger security, in comparison with the framework for hop-by-hop encrypted data aggregation.Yingpeng Sang, Hong Shen, Yasushi Inoguchi, Yasuo Tan, Naixue Xion

Secure Many-to-One Communications in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are formed by nodes with limited computational and power resources. WSNs are finding an increasing number of applications, both civilian and military, most of which require security for the sensed data being collected by the base station from remote sensor nodes. In addition, when many sensor nodes transmit to the base station, the implosion problem arises. Providing security measures and implosion-resistance in a resource-limited environment is a real challenge. This article reviews the aggregation strategies proposed in the literature to handle the bandwidth and security problems related to many-to-one transmission in WSNs. Recent contributions to secure lossless many-to-one communication developed by the authors in the context of several Spanish-funded projects are surveyed. Ongoing work on the secure lossy many-to-one communication is also sketched
A distributed delay-efficient data aggregation scheduling for duty-cycled WSNs
With the growing interest in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), minimizing network delay and maximizing sensor (node) lifetime are important challenges. Since the sensor battery is one of the most precious resources in a WSN, efficient utilization of the energy to prolong the network lifetime has been the focus of much of the research on WSNs. For that reason, many previous research efforts have tried to achieve tradeoffs in terms of network delay and energy cost for such data aggregation tasks. Recently, duty-cycling technique, i.e., periodically switching ON and OFF communication and sensing capabilities, has been considered to significantly reduce the active time of sensor nodes and thus extend network lifetime. However, this technique causes challenges for data aggregation. In this paper, we present a distributed approach, named distributed delay efficient data aggregation scheduling (DEDAS-D) to solve the aggregation-scheduling problem in duty-cycled WSNs. The analysis indicates that our solution is a better approach to solve this problem. We conduct extensive simulations to corroborate our analysis and show that DEDAS-D outperforms other distributed schemes and achieves an asymptotic performance compared with centralized scheme in terms of data aggregation delay.N/
Energy Efficient Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks
Recent advances in wireless sensor networks have commanded many new protocols specifically designed for sensor networks where energy awareness is an important concern. This routing protocols might differ from depending on the application and the network architecture. To extend the lifetime of Wireless sensor network (WSN), an energy efficient scheme can be designed and developed via an algorithm to provide reasonable energy consumption and network for WSN. To maintain high scalability and better data aggregation, sensor nodes are often grouped into disjoint, non-overlapping subsets called clusters. Clusters create hierarchical WSNs which incorporate efficient utilization of limited resources of sensor nodes to reduce energy consumption, thus extend the lifetime of WSN. The objective of this paper is to present a state of the art survey and classification of energy efficient schemes for WSNs.
