Image Enhancement with Statistical Estimation
Contrast enhancement is an important area of research for the image analysis.
Over the decade, the researcher worked on this domain to develop an efficient
and adequate algorithm. The proposed method will enhance the contrast of image
using Binarization method with the help of Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE).
The paper aims to enhance the image contrast of bimodal and multi-modal images.
The proposed methodology use to collect mathematical information retrieves from
the image. In this paper, we are using binarization method that generates the
desired histogram by separating image nodes. It generates the enhanced image
using histogram specification with binarization method. The proposed method has
showed an improvement in the image contrast enhancement compare with the other
image.Comment: 9 pages,6 figures; ISSN:0975-5578 (Online); 0975-5934 (Print
MinMax Radon Barcodes for Medical Image Retrieval
Content-based medical image retrieval can support diagnostic decisions by
clinical experts. Examining similar images may provide clues to the expert to
remove uncertainties in his/her final diagnosis. Beyond conventional feature
descriptors, binary features in different ways have been recently proposed to
encode the image content. A recent proposal is "Radon barcodes" that employ
binarized Radon projections to tag/annotate medical images with content-based
binary vectors, called barcodes. In this paper, MinMax Radon barcodes are
introduced which are superior to "local thresholding" scheme suggested in the
literature. Using IRMA dataset with 14,410 x-ray images from 193 different
classes, the advantage of using MinMax Radon barcodes over \emph{thresholded}
Radon barcodes are demonstrated. The retrieval error for direct search drops by
more than 15\%. As well, SURF, as a well-established non-binary approach, and
BRISK, as a recent binary method are examined to compare their results with
MinMax Radon barcodes when retrieving images from IRMA dataset. The results
demonstrate that MinMax Radon barcodes are faster and more accurate when
applied on IRMA images.Comment: To appear in proceedings of the 12th International Symposium on

Degraded Document Image Binarization Using Segmentation Algorithm
Degraded document image binarization is very difficult process due to different types of degradation over the document. Multiple algorithms as well as methods are available to get clear image of degraded document image. Many researchers have worked in this field of image processing. Still there is scope to get more clear and upgraded document image. Image segmentation is very famous process in the image processing domain. Image segmentation can used to binarize degraded document image. Binarization is a process to generate binary image from gray scale image. Also it is tedious to differentiate foreground and background pixel due to degradation. In this paper, Image Segmentation using thresholding is proposed for degraded document image binarization. Image segmentation gives better result than canny edge approach.

Estimation of wall shear stress using 4D flow cardiovascular MRI and computational fluid dynamics
Electronic version of an article published as Journal of mechanics in medicine and biology, 0, 1750046 (2016), 16 pages. DOI:10.1142/S0219519417500464
© World Scientific Publishing CompanyIn the last few years, wall shear stress (WSS) has arisen as a new diagnostic indicator in patients with arterial disease. There is a substantial evidence that the WSS plays a significant role, together with hemodynamic indicators, in initiation and progression of the vascular diseases. Estimation of WSS values, therefore, may be of clinical significance and the methods employed for its measurement are crucial for clinical community. Recently, four-dimensional (4D) flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been widely used in a number of applications for visualization and quantification of blood flow, and although the sensitivity to blood flow measurement has increased, it is not yet able to provide an accurate three-dimensional (3D) WSS distribution. The aim of this work is to evaluate the aortic blood flow features and the associated WSS by the combination of 4D flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (4D CMR) and computational fluid dynamics technique. In particular, in this work, we used the 4D CMR to obtain the spatial domain and the boundary conditions needed to estimate the WSS within the entire thoracic aorta using computational fluid dynamics. Similar WSS distributions were found for cases simulated. A sensitivity analysis was done to check the accuracy of the method. 4D CMR begins to be a reliable tool to estimate the WSS within the entire thoracic aorta using computational fluid dynamics. The combination of both techniques may provide the ideal tool to help tackle these and other problems related to wall shear estimation.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
