    Effects of supply chain transparency, alignment, adaptability, and agility on blockchain adoption in supply chain among SMEs

    This study aims to investigate the extent to which the contributions of blockchain technology to supply chain parameters influence blockchain adoption among SMEs. Drawing on contingency theory, the study investigates the moderating effect of market turbulence. The data were collected from 204 SMEs in Malaysia\u27s manufacturing sector and analysed using the partial least squares technique. The results showed that the intention of SMEs’ managers to adopt blockchain is influenced by the contributions of blockchain to supply chain transparency and agility. Supply chain transparency, alignment, adaptability, and agility are interrelated. Market turbulence moderates positively the association between agility and intention to adopt blockchain. This study extends the literature by decomposing the concept of relative advantages and investigating the influences of blockchain benefits on blockchain adoption. The moderating effect of market turbulence indicates that the influence of blockchain on agility is more important for SMEs operating in a turbulent environment than the SMEs in a stable market. The findings help the policymakers and blockchain vendors in developing effective plans and strategies to speed up the adoption of blockchain among SMEs. Furthermore, the results give confidence to the managers and owners of SMEs that blockchain can be a valuable competitive advantage source

    Exploring A Strategic Links between Absorptive Capacity, Supply Chain Agility, It Capability and the Organizational Performance of Indonesian Manufacturing Firms

    The present research attempts to discover this supply chain management as an important issue of strategic management research. This study particularly examines two important IT capabilities which are expected to have influence on firm performance, these capabilities are 1) IT assimilation, the ability to synchronize and diffuse the applications of information technology under business structure, and 2) flexible IT infrastructure, a well-developed and carefully planned technological foundation which provides basis for present as well as future applications to be developed. Based on the dynamic capability’s perspective and the view of a hierarchy of capabilities, the prime objective of the currents study is investigating the direct relationship between absorptive capacity, supply chain agility, IT capability and organizational performance in the Indonesian manufacturing firms. In addition to that the mediating effect of absorptive capacity and supply chain agility is also examined. Employing the survey-based methodology, the SEM-PLS technique is used to test the hypothesized relationships. So, current study has used SEM-PLS as statistical tool to answer the research questions raised in this study and research objectives envisaged in the current study. The findings of the study have provided support to the theoretical foundation and proposed hypothesis of the current study. Current study will be helpful for policymakers and practitioners in understanding the issues related to supply chain agility, IT capability, absorptive capacity and the firm performance. In author knowledge this is among very few pioneering studies on this issue

    A Proposed Architecture for Big Data Driven Supply Chain Analytics

    Advancement in information and communication technology (ICT) has given rise to explosion of data in every field of operations. Working with the enormous volume of data (or Big Data, as it is popularly known as) for extraction of useful information to support decision making is one of the sources of competitive advantage for organizations today. Enterprises are leveraging the power of analytics in formulating business strategy in every facet of their operations to mitigate business risk. Volatile global market scenario has compelled the organizations to redefine their supply chain management (SCM). In this paper, we have delineated the relevance of Big Data and its importance in managing end to end supply chains for achieving business excellence. A Big Data-centric architecture for SCM has been proposed that exploits the current state of the art technology of data management, analytics and visualization. The security and privacy requirements of a Big Data system have also been highlighted and several mechanisms have been discussed to implement these features in a real world Big Data system deployment in the context of SCM.     Enhancing supply chain innovation and operational agility through knowledge acquisition from the social media: A microfoundational approach

    This paper presents an examination of the interlocks between knowledge acquisition from social media (KAfSM), organizational microfoundation structure and design (OMFSaD), supply chain innovation (SCI), and operational agility (OA). These interlocks were tested on data collected from 172 managers/directors/CEOs of 96 firms operating in nine manufacturing industry sectors in Malaysia. Our findings suggest that OMFSaD plays a key role when interlinked with KAfSM. Furthermore, OMFSaD is significantly associated with SCI and OA, and SCI significantly correlates with OA and partially mediates the relationship between OMFSaD and OA. Our study’s outcomes are consistent with our understanding of IT‐enabled organizational capabilities—thus contributing to dynamic capability theory—and suggest that KAfSM helps to revamp processes, routines, and business operations in frequently changing environments.     Can Smart Supply Chain Bring Agility and Resilience for Enhanced Sustainable Business Performance?

    Purpose Supply chains need to be made viable in this volatile and competitive market, which could be possible through digitalization. This study is an attempt to explore the role of Industry 4.0, smart supply chain, supply chain agility and supply chain resilience on sustainable business performance from the lens of natural resource-based view. Design/methodology/approach The study tests the proposed model using a covariance-based structural equation modelling and further investigates the ranking of each construct using the artificial neural networks approach in AMOS and SPSS respectively. A total of 234 respondents selected using purposive sampling aided in capturing the industry practices across supply chains in the UK. The full collinearity test was carried out to study the common method bias and the content validity was carried out using the item content validity index and scale content validity index. The convergent and discriminant validity of the constructs and mediation study was carried out in SPSS and AMOS V.23. Findings The results are overtly inferring the significant impact of Industry 4.0 practices on creating smart and ultimately sustainable supply chains. A partial relationship is established between Industry 4.0 and supply chain agility through a smart supply chain. This work empirically reinstates the combined significance of green practices, Industry 4.0, smart supply chain, supply chain agility and supply chain resilience on sustainable business value. The study also uses the ANN approach to determine the relative importance of each significant variable found in SEM analysis. ANN determines the ranking among the significant variables, i.e. supply chain resilience \u3e green practices \u3e Industry 4.0\u3e smart supply chain \u3e supply chain agility presented in descending order. Originality/value This study is a novel attempt to establish the role of digitalization in SCs for attaining sustainable business value, providing empirical support to the mediating role of supply chain agility, supply chain resilience and smart supply chain and manifests a significant integrated framework.     Providing a lean and agile supply chain model in project-based organizations

    Purpose: One of the differences between project-oriented and routine organizations is the difference in their supply chain. This leads to the use of distinct and new approaches to its management. In this article, according to the existing problems, a conceptual model of lean and agile supply chain in project-oriented organizations is presented by examining the lean functions and agility of supply chain discussion. Research methodology: This research is descriptive-analytical in terms of method and applied in terms of purpose. This study's statistical population includes all managers and supply chain experts of project-based organizations and the statistical sample includes 105 people who have been selected using a purposive sampling method. After presenting the conceptual model, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect information and to examine the intended model, the structural equation approach with PLS software was used. Results: The research findings indicate that the 114 identified items for the research model significantly explain their related components. The results of the model fit study showed that based on the convergent validity indices, Cronbach's alpha and Cronbach's alpha, and the subscription validity index and the exponential or redundancy validity index, the model is in the desired condition. Limitation: This research only described Knowledge Based Centre. Contribution: Organizations realised that relying on existing knowledge alone was not enough to compete in a competitive environment, and went beyond the boundaries of their organization to acquire knowledge. Organizations considered customers as a very useful and knowledgeable resource, and activities should be done to interact with customers in leading organizations.
