EVOLUCIÓN Y ANÁLISIS BIBLIOMÉTRICO DE LA REVISTA CUADERNOS DE TURISMO (1998-2019)
The objectives are to analyse the articles published in Cuadernos de Turismo and to assess the journal's evolution. The historical milestones, the frequency distribution of articles and authorships, the geographical and institutional origin of authorships, the subjects and territories researched, the scientific impact, and the main cited and citing publications are studied. Despite the concentration of authorships from Spain, the journal has progressively gained influence in Latin America. The subjects are globally consistent with the international tourism research. Among the causes of the journal’s growing impact, there is the adaption to the remarkable changes that have occurred in the environment of the academic publishing during the last two decades.

Travel Behavior in the United States Amidst COVID-19
Understanding what factors play a role in people\u27s decisions to travel during a pandemic is important to public health officials and stakeholders in the travel and tourism industry in the United States (US) and worldwide as we recover from COVID-19. In this study, we examine the factors that influence people\u27s decision to cancel/postpone recreational travel within the US amidst COVID-19. Our conceptual framework extends the Expected Utility Model to incorporate subjective norms and perceived behavioral control from the Theory of Planned Behavior. We used two waves of a survey of US residents, collected in June-July and October 2020. Our results indicate that risk perceptions and subjective norms play a significant role in the decision of canceling and postponing recreational travel. Results also suggest that perceived behavioral control is not relevant when traveling involves elevated risks and individuals concern about transmitting COVID-19 to others cancel trips in both waves
The Research Space: using the career paths of scholars to predict the evolution of the research output of individuals, institutions, and nations
In recent years scholars have built maps of science by connecting the
academic fields that cite each other, are cited together, or that cite a
similar literature. But since scholars cannot always publish in the fields they
cite, or that cite them, these science maps are only rough proxies for the
potential of a scholar, organization, or country, to enter a new academic
field. Here we use a large dataset of scholarly publications disambiguated at
the individual level to create a map of science-or research space-where links
connect pairs of fields based on the probability that an individual has
published in both of them. We find that the research space is a significantly
more accurate predictor of the fields that individuals and organizations will
enter in the future than citation based science maps. At the country level,
however, the research space and citations based science maps are equally
accurate. These findings show that data on career trajectories-the set of
fields that individuals have previously published in-provide more accurate
predictors of future research output for more focalized units-such as
individuals or organizations-than citation based science maps

Emerging Technologies in Hospitality and Tourism Education and Training: A Systematic Literature Review
Purpose: As technology continues to evolve and disrupt all aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry, it is important to explore the effectiveness of these technologies on the learner. Methodology The current study conducted a systematic literature review of 26 research articles focused on exploring the current and emerging technologies used in hospitality and tourism education and training between the years of 2015-2021. The majority of studies (n=20) focused on academic education, with the remainder on industry training. Findings: During this timeframe the predominant technology being used were simulations, virtual field trips, and general online training. Other technologies included clickers, video, wearable, social networks, virtual meeting, tablets, and games. The targeted studies implemented the technology in several ways; including in-person, remote, and as a replacement or hybrid option. Multiple research methods were used to assess the use of the various technologies used. Originality: There are tremendous changes occurring both in student expectations and instructional delivery in higher education classrooms and technology is playing a central role. Exploring the effectiveness of these technologies and determining gaps in research is critical in assisting academics to use the most effective technology in the classroom. This study is the first step in assessing current literature and determining gaps in research
Work Environment, Service Quality and Customer Retention in Guesthouses in Uganda; Case of Kampala District
This study sought to examine the relationship between work environment, service quality and customer retention in guesthouses. The study was cross sectional in that both quantitative and qualitative techniques were used. Factor analysis was carried out and five service quality dimensions were derived. Stratified sampling and later simple random sampling were employed so that good results could be got. The observation method was used to complement on the applied study tools. The results revealed that customers’ perception of the service quality in Kampala Guesthouses fell short of their expectations hence most of them were dissatisfied. The reasons for the above were failure by guesthouses to empower their staff in terms of quality delivery; unfavorable working environment characterized by long hours of work, low pay, job insecurity unfair treat, employment of untrained staff and relatives and a lot of intimidation by managers yet these are the very people who handle customers and provide the service. The study recommended critical empowerment of staff in terms of quality delivery and improvement of the working environment if they are to deliver quality service to customers. Critical areas should be staff training, remuneration, respect, motivation, renovation and repair of buildings, benchmarking, career development and job security. Keywords: Service quality, Work environment, Guesthouse, Customers, Tourism and hospitalit
Os efeitos da pandemia do Covid-19 no desempenho das revistas acadêmicas: o caso da Turquia
Since the beginning of 2020, “Covid-19” has affected the whole world in an unprecedented way in modern times. It is inevitable that this pandemic, which has negatively affected many fields, will also have an impact on academic journals. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the performance of academic journals. In our study, a “Data Envelopment Analysis” methodology with 3 inputs and 3 outputs was used to determine the relative “performance of the journals”. Within the scope of the study, 109 journals published in “Turkey” and scanned in “Web of Science” indexes were examined. Results show that eleven journals were efficient in 2019, while in 2020 this number decreased to seven. Four fields have been positively affected by the pandemic and journals publishing in these fields have increased their efficiencies. Eighteen fields were adversely affected by the pandemic and the efficiency of journal publishing in these fields decreased. Eleven fields and journals publishing in these fields maintained their efficiency both before and during the pandemic. As the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, our data is limited. In the coming years, more detailed and comprehensive studies can be carried out with more extensive data and a further number of journals from different countries
Structural equation model analysis
Oliveira, T., Araujo, B., & Tam, C. (2020). Dataset for understanding why people share their travel experiences on social media: Structural equation model analysis. Data in brief, 30, [105447]. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dib.2020.105447The data presented in this article relates to the individual intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to share travel experience in social media. The 381 records were gathered in Portugal using an online survey. A statistical analysis of the data was carried out using partial least squares (PLS). This dataset shows a relationship between identification, internalization, and compliance to perceived enjoyment, and also, between perceived enjoyment, altruistic motivations, personal fulfillment, and self-actualization as well as security and privacy reasons to actual travel experience sharing. For further findings and interpretation, please refer to the research article entitled “Why do people share their travel experiences on social media?” [1]. We suggest the use of this data to compare with data collected by other researchers to develop cross-country analyses based on the model proposed by Oliveira, Araujo, and Tam [1].publishersversionpublishersversionpublishersversionpublishe
