An information system, it's the key point of the success of companies [5] [6]. Where from the necessity of investing to develop information systems, these investments concern to infrastructures, application software's, set up systems, and existing processes. Companies have to follow policies to manage well their investment of information systems in an economic and optimal way, it is the subject of this paper. To validate our subject, our hypothesis, a study of ground was necessary. We opted for an empirical study on the information systems of the high-level Moroccan organizations in various sectors, by basing itself on scientific foundations. The study and the data analysis allowed us to propose new simplified models

The Economics of Information Technology in Public Sector Health Facilities in Developing Countries: The Case of South Africa

The public healthcare sector in developing countries face many challenges, including weak healthcare systems and under resourced facilities that deliver poor outcomes relative to total healthcare expenditure. Healthcare delivery, access to healthcare and cost containment has the potential for improvement through more efficient healthcare resource management. Global references demonstrate that information technology (IT) has the ability to assist in this regard through the automation of processes, thus reducing the inefficiencies of manually driven processes and lowering transaction costs. This study examines the impact of new systems implementations on service delivery, user adoption and organizational culture within the hospital setting in South Africa, as perceived by doctors, nurses and hospital administrators. The research provides some insight into the reasons for investing in system automation, the associated outcomes, and organiztional factors that impact the successful adoption of IT systems. In addition, it finds that sustainable success in these initiatives is as much a function of the technology as it is of the change management function that must accompany the system implementation.Hospital information systems; healthcare management; electronic health records; South Africa, mixed methods

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Information Systems and Technologies ManagementFor the past decades, organizations have been investing heavily in BPM projects in the hope of improving their competitive advantage in an increasingly complex environment. However, although it is believed that the higher the level of BPM maturity the greater the success of the organization, experience shows that this relationship is not always possible to prove. The purpose of this study is to help clarify the relationship between the level of BPM maturity and the success of an organization. This was done through the implementation of a case study-based research within a global company that has an operation in Portugal, focusing on the shared services organization. An analysis of the existing BPM maturity models and its level of coverage of BPM core areas was conducted as a way to select the most suitable BPM maturity model to conduct the assessment of the current BPM maturity level of the organization. It was also established a framework to characterize the success of an organization. These two inputs, along with information gathered to understand process improvements that were implemented and its impact in the organization, were the basis for conducting the research. Results show a successful organization, with a high maturity level according to the BPM OMG maturity model, that has been investing in continually improving its processes with a strong focus on digital transformation. The identified benefits from a high level of BPM maturity, namely the improved productivity, cost reduction, error & risk prevention, higher agility, employee upskilling and knowledge retention, were shown to have a positive influence in the majority of the dimensions used to characterize the success of the organization

Factors affecting the successful realisation of benefits from systems development projects: findings from three case studies

    Get PDF
The return that organisations derive from investments in information systems and technology continues to disappoint. While there is a very significant body of literature on the factors that should facilitate a successful outcome from systems development, there is growing concern that these prescriptions are not having their desired effect. In this paper, we argue that the success of a systems development project should be measured in terms of its ability to deliver meaningful benefits, rather than the timely delivery of a technical artefact, and therefore organisations should adopt an explicit and proactive benefits realisation approach when investing in IT. Consequently, we sought to explore those actionable factors that might facilitate the effective realisation of benefits from systems development initiatives. Three organisations were identified that claimed to adopt a proactive approach to benefits realisation, and detailed studies of their systems development practices were conducted. Our analysis found that whilst one organisation had been successful in its adoption of a benefits realisation perspective, the other two had not, and this allowed us to identify those factors that helped to explain this difference in outcomes. In short, this paper makes an important contribution by identifying how a sub-set of traditional systems success factors might be enhanced, to give them a more explicit benefits realisation orientation. Moreover, it presents a coherent set of principles that can be used for deriving other factors and practices

A STUDY ON QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE IN MANUFACTURING COMPANIES

    Get PDF
The significance of quality assurance and control is emphasized in this abstract in some of the different industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, and services. It draws attention to how diverse these fields are and how they can foster both client loyalty and company effectiveness. Adopting quality assurance and control is still essential for attaining sustainable growth and success as industries change. In a time of intense international rivalry and quick technical development, businesses who put a high priority on quality assurance and control have an advantage. Businesses may fulfil present market demands and adjust to evolving client wants by investing in strong quality management systems. Adopting quality control and assurance principles also promotes an organizational culture of transparency, accountability, and ongoing development

This chapter addresses some key issues related to pedagogical approaches and scenarios marginalised groups face in the pursuit of basic and higher education in African countries. Based on a case study carried out in Tanzania and South Africa, this chapter explores debates within the theory and practice of education and teaching environment, and elaborates what the notion pedagogy encompasses in the act of teaching and learning, inequality systems linked to opportunities offered by the new Information Technology, lack of quality teachers and infrastructure all focused to poor people entering the labour market. This chapter considers how pedagogical challenges can be diminished and overcome the growing knowledge and skills shortages. Finally, it offers recommendations towards turning both pedagogy and pedagogical challenges into a success story focused on investing in human capital for the poor in Africa

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) recent is widely However, there are companies which still vacillate to decide for investing the ERP systems. This vacillation comes from consideration that ERP system is the high investment cost and also there is an apprehensive of inadequate technical capability. Therefore, taking into account the ERP contribution or impact both of tangible and intangible value including cost and benefit to the evaluation is essential for the success of this project. This paper will reveal how the factor of cost and benefit in an economic analysis can be applied to ERP investment plan. The expected increase of market share due to the customer satisfaction is determined in expressions of information cycle time and quality between customers and suppliers by using fuzzy rule based system.Furthermore, the expected Net Present Value (NPV) is calculated by employing the Monte Carlo simulation method

The Annie E. Casey Foundation engaged InSight at Pacific Community Ventures to conduct the first comprehensive third-party evaluation of the SI Program, with research support from the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. The evaluation focused on the social impact of the SI Program and its impact measurement practices, and had the following objectives: ? Provide a comprehensive review of the social impact that has been achieved to date through the SI Program. ? Assess the systems and processes used by the SI Program to measure and report on its impact, identifying the SI Program's strengths in impact measurement and areas for improvement. ? Surface evidence-based findings and lessons that can assist the Foundation and other investors in rigorously examining and enhancing the social impact of their investments, in order to support the continued development of the impact investing field
