    Get PDF
The research gaps in the connection between resilient leadership and innovation necessitate this paper, especially as the world is moving away from the global pandemic of COVID-19. This paper has successfully reviewed theory and innovation under resilient leadership in Chinese higher education. The paper explores various concepts under resilient leadership. Variables and indicators of resilient leadership were reviewed. It also focuses on related models and theories under resilient leadership. Three models of resilient leadership: the compensatory model, challenge model, and the protective factor model were examined. Constructivist self-determination theory serves as a guiding principle for this paper. This theory was derived from social learning theory, which integrates psychoanalytic theory, constructivist thinking, and cognitive development theory. The paper also delved into resilient leadership and various online educations in Chinese higher education. English language education policy in China : a CDA and ethnographic study

IPhD ThesisDespite the growing stream of literature about English language education in China, there has been relatively little discussion of primary English language education. Past research has focused almost exclusively on secondary and tertiary English education. This research seeks to address this gap by examining primary English education policy. More specifically, this research provides insights into the extent to which each instance of language policy and planning can be seen as a product of its specific context. This thesis is based on an ethnographic study conducted in local education bureaus and three primary schools in Yulin, a Northwestern Chinese city with 3 million people. Drawing on critical discourse analysis (CDA) of political discourse(s), ethnographic field notes, questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation, this study investigates the influence of macro and micro levels of policy actors in disseminating and implementing the language policy. It also evaluates the apparent match and mismatch between macro policy and micro levels of practice within the local language policy and planning context. As such, I offer a lens for studying primary English education policy in China. The combination of critical discourse analysis (CDA) and ethnography represents a methodological contribution of this research and is used as a way of seeing if there are gaps between policy and practice; and, if so, what kind(s)? Thus, the main contribution of this study to the literature on language education policy is a framework for analyzing the interaction between policy and practice. This framework combines CDA and ethnography. CDA is used to try and identify underlying ideology and power relations in politically determined educational discourse, whereas the ethnographic part of the study is used to examine and interpret the implementation of policy among local education officials and teachers. Additionally, this research extends the current literature on English education policy by identifying that a lack of communication between macro and micro policy actors is a significant reason behind poor English language education quality. On the surface, local officials and teachers follow the instructions in the political discourse, due to a somewhat rigid hierarchical structure of Chinese society. In some aspects, though, local officials and teachers might veer away from, abandon or even change policy consciously or unconsciously in their daily routines and classes. Importantly, the findings presented in this thesis try to bridge the research on language education policy and teaching and content and methods

The aim of the study was to examine the TPACK levels of Tai Chi teachers in higher education. 218 Tai Chi teachers in higher education institutions in Henan Province, China voluntarily responded to an online questionnaire. SPSS 24.0 software was used for data analysis. The findings showed significant differences in Tai Chi teachers’ TPACK levels and its components based on the different demographic variables. The implication of this study is for policymakers to draw up relevant policies that can enhance the weaker areas of TPACK components among Tai Chi teachers

Under the influence of globalization, the intensification of international competition is in the final analysis the competition of education and talents. Teachers are the main body of teaching activities. Teachers’ professionalization is an important symbol to measure a country’s educational level. At present, the professional development of teachers in China is facing enormous challenges. In terms of concept, system and the allocation and utilization of educational resources, there are great problems. In order to meet the needs of teachers’ professional development in the perspective of globalization, the new era should promote the upgrading of teachers’ professional level from the aspects of renewal of ideas, improvement of system guarantee system, diversified development and integration and distribution of resources

Smart community provides opportunities to develop the elder care system with information technologies for elderly people. Most existing studies on elder care system are from the macro level and there lacks practical development in this area, especially has ignored diversified elderly people’s health needs. This study tried to investigate the elderly people’s health needs by conducting interviews in two smart communities (Sanli community and Tieli community in Hefei city, Anhui province). We have interviewed 16 older adults and 16 of their grown-up children in the communities. With the help of Nvivo12, health needs about elderly people are coded into 57 free nodes and 8 tree nodes elderly people, which are further divided into four aspects based on the social support angle, information needs, instrument needs, substance needs, and emotion needs. Finally, we developed the health service system of smart communities from the subjects and functions of social support perspective. Through this study, we can better understand health needs of older adults and provide references for the development of health services in smart communitie

The History of Chinese Cybersecurity: Current Effects on Chinese Society Economy, and Foreign Relations

Chinese cybersecurity has become an infamous topic in the field of cybersecurity today, causing a great deal of controversy. The controversy stems from whether or not censorship is hindering Chinese economy, society, and relationships with other countries. The White Papers (中国政府白皮书), the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China (中华人民共和国宪法), and The Internet in China (中国互联网状况) all suggest that there is a free flow of Internet both within and without China that promotes peaceful socioeconomic development which the Chinese government seeks to promote. But is China sacrificing lucrative business prospects to secure their country? From whom is China securing its people, and is filtering the Internet truly the cure to insecurity? International Security Studies (ISS) has examined the issue of what is actually being secured, the nation state or its people. More recent schools of thought have asserted that Human Security, which is also concerned with the welfare of the people of the state, is relevant to China’s current security questions. China is reacting to its recent economic slowdown by reasserting its dominance over news outlets and increasing censorship of the Internet, which is in direct contradiction to its National Defense and Military Strategy policy. The policy dictates informationization and modernization through the use of the Internet and technology, but to control the free-flow of Internet is to limit economic and social development. This paper explores the above documents, other comparable countries’ cybersecurity policies, censorship policies throughout China’s recent history, news reports, International Relations Theory (IRT), and ISS to see if this is so

Purpose: Blended learning had become a popular educational approach that mixed the characteristics of face-to-face lectures and online learning in the digital age. This research aimed to examine the factors of task technology fit, confirmation, cognitive presence, teaching presence, social presence, and learner-instructors interaction to impact blended learning satisfaction of college students in Chengdu, China. The research model demonstrates relationships between key varaibles. Research design and methodology: This research applied the quantitative method and questionnaire as instruments to survey 500 students, who majored in art and design subjects. Before distributing the questionnaires, Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) and a pilot test of Cronbach’s Alpha were used to test validity and reliability. Data was analyzed by utilizing Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to validate the model’s goodness of fit and confirm the causal relationship among variables for hypothesis testing.. Results: The main findings revealed that confirmation, cognitive presence, social presence, and learner-instructors interaction significantly influenced satisfaction with blended learning, except task technology fit and teaching presence. Cognitive presence and learner-instructor interaction has strong and significant role to enhance students’ satisfaction with hybrid learning. Conclusions: The study has found that the research conceptual model could predict and explain how the factors impact blended learning satisfaction
