Process Improvement: assessing the influence of external intervention
This paper presents the findings from a large-scale empirical investigation into the impact of external intervention into business process improvement using a hybrid model of knowledge transfer (KT). Through the utilization of a survey instrument with 696 respondents, the research explores the insights into a phased approached to sustainable external intervention. Analysis of the empirical data indicated that organisations are receptive to external intervention, which can lead to improved levels of knowledge transfer, organisational culture, and business innovation. Furthermore, high impact intervention can contribute to long-term sustainability. The results also indicate that intervention has been more successful through intermitting intervention in terms of specific initiatives such as business process improvement, technology transfer, change management and new product development. The paper contributes to the impact of intervention from the perspective of facilitating the knowing-doing gap, bridging the gap within this research theme
Penerapan Strategi Pemasaran Relasional terhadap Pembentukan Nilai Jasa Perguruan Tinggi
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui, menganalisis dan mengkaji Strategi Pemasaran Relasional dan Nilai Jasa, serta Pengaruh Startegi Pemasaran Relasional terhadap Nilai Jasa pada Sekolah Tinggi Swasta di Priangan Timur. The next generation of the web: an organisational perspective
The web has revolutionised information sharing, management, interoperability and knowledge discovery. The union of the two prominent web frameworks, Web 2.0 and the Semantic Web is often referred to as Web 3.0. This paper explores the basics behind the two paradigms, assesses their influence over organisational change and considers their effectiveness in supporting innovative solutions. It then outlines the challenges of combining the two web paradigms to form Web 3.0 and critically evaluates the impact that Web 3.0 will have on the social organisation. The research carried out follows action research principles and adopts an investigative and reviewing approach to the emerging trends and patterns that develop from the web's changing use, examining the
underpinning enabling technologies that facilitate access, innovation and organisational change
A Framework for the Implementation of RFID Systems
There are an increasing number of organizations planning to implement Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems to enhance their competitiveness. Due to the novelty of the technology, many managerial challenges exist in determining and planning for the implementation of such systems. These challenges often lead to wasted efforts and resources, as well as to failed implementations. This paper presents a systematic and holistic RFID implementation framework which has been validated by both users and experts. The framework outlines the important tasks to be performed in each step of the implementation process. To enable practitioners to make informed go/no‐go decisions, essential considerations of implementation are also discussed in this paper. Furthermore, the critical success factors for the deployment of such systems are also elaborated
Semantic technologies: from niche to the mainstream of Web 3? A comprehensive framework for web Information modelling and semantic annotation
Context: Web information technologies developed and applied in the last decade
have considerably changed the way web applications operate and have
revolutionised information management and knowledge discovery. Social
technologies, user-generated classification schemes and formal semantics have a
far-reaching sphere of influence. They promote collective intelligence, support
interoperability, enhance sustainability and instigate innovation.
Contribution: The research carried out and consequent publications follow the
various paradigms of semantic technologies, assess each approach, evaluate its
efficiency, identify the challenges involved and propose a comprehensive framework for web information modelling and semantic annotation, which is the thesis’ original contribution to knowledge. The proposed framework assists web information
modelling, facilitates semantic annotation and information retrieval, enables system interoperability and enhances information quality.
Implications: Semantic technologies coupled with social media and end-user
involvement can instigate innovative influence with wide organisational implications that can benefit a considerable range of industries. The scalable and sustainable business models of social computing and the collective intelligence of organisational social media can be resourcefully paired with internal research and knowledge from interoperable information repositories, back-end databases and legacy systems.
Semantified information assets can free human resources so that they can be used to better serve business development, support innovation and increase productivity
A case analysis of securing organisations against information leakage through online social networking
The inadvertent leakage of sensitive information through Online Social Networking (OSN) represents a significant source of security risk to organisations. Leakage of sensitive information such as trade secrets, intellectual property and personal details of employees can result in a loss of competitive advantage, loss of reputation, and erosion of client trust. We present 4 case studies which examine drivers for employee leakage behaviour and corresponding security management strategies. Drawing on these case studies, we present a maturity framework for organisational OSN Leakage Mitigation Capability (OSN-LMC) and lessons learned from the case analysis
